@XanderHenderson @quid @DanielFischer: Please note the behaviour of this moderator in not locking the question despite being made aware of the cheating attempt.
Note also the previous question was part of it.

Q: Spotting crankery

EugeneUnderwood Dudley published a book called mathematical cranks that talks about faux proofs throughout history. While it seems to be mostly for entertainment than anything else, I feel it has become more relevant in modern mathematics. Especially with the advent of arXiv, you can obtain research pa...

Crank: An eccentric person, especially one who is unduly zealous. An unbalanced person who is overzealous in the advocacy of a private cause.
In the case of mathematics, "unduly zealous" means "adamant about mathematically useless or wrong nonsense".
And TheFreeThesaurus provides a variety of synonyms: crackpot, fruitcake, nut case, screwball. Maybe I should start using "fruitcake".

@user21820 by now the question is modified. Also OP maintains it was not a cheating attempt but a coincidence. I am not sure it's worth locking it now. I have nothing against locking them, I am just not sure it serves a purpose or is by now in line with the policy. I'd just delete them.
Or maybe give some time to improve them.
The claimed scenario by OP is not completely implausible.

That said, I will admit I do not fully comprehend the action of my fellow mod.

@quid Yup I can believe that.

I can believe that too

@DivyankaS.Chaudhari Why, can I ask, do you suddenly comment on that?

I didn't read it, ehhh, sorry. Didn't read room info as well. Was trying to be funny. Extremely regretted.

@DivyankaS.Chaudhari Oh okay no worry. I was for a moment really just wondering what it was about. You're welcome to other 'fun chat-rooms'!

This post is ready for deletion. The same asker just asked this PSQ which needs to be closed.
Oops, the latter of the two questions was just deleted by the OP.

@Did @amWhy @CarlMummert: A magical joker downvoted my answer, and unsurprisingly the same joker was the author of a senseless question, which I don't understand why it was reopened.

@user21820 Unfortunately, I'm sad to say it no longer surprises me that so many such users try to retaliate against anyone who sees through their posts.

@amWhy Well at least this one isn't a crank. But it's kind of annoying that there are so many people that think they know everything when they can't understand even basic logic.

4:54 PM
@amWhy Oh I've not heard of that analogy. Anyway I must say I never suspected it was retaliation. I though it was just a case of logic-ignorance.

@user21820 That may be, too.

Yeah, it's a duplicate. I just learned that the system is smart enough to not let you insta-close a duplicate if you edited the tags of the question.

@CarlMummert Ahh, yes... I've run into that same phenomenon. Thanks for finding the dupe.

How does a user just shy of 3K post a PSQ, and not recognize this isn't okay?

@quid To go back to my default state, I don't really care to adjudicate whether or not someone is cheating---it doesn't matter to me. The issue is that the question is part of an ongoing competition, and should therefore be locked and invisibilized until such time as the competition is over.
