@user21820 Thanks for your comment. I wonder why you are interested in mentioning and linking my crank (in your opinion) opinions in the room which has no relation to them. If you remember, you have moved some of my posts in your logic room into the trash due to the fact that they were not appropriate for your room.
I guess you mean because this idea has been suggested by me and I am a crank person with crank ideas, I will not be suitable to manage this project. But please don't worry! As I said in my post, there would be a committee to make final decision. Also, because I have little knowl

Amin: I confess that I don't quite understand the purpose of this room as it fits into the broader goal of MSEU. It seems that you want to push most of the decisions onto the committee (a good idea, IMO), but since the committee does not seem to exist yet, the room can't be a place for official business [yet?]. Is it fair to say that this is a public brainstorming session?
I want to provide ideas but it seems there is so little in the way of existing structure for me to grasp hold of, that it's hard to know what to say.

I will say this: the phrase "give graduated students Bachelor and PhD degrees" is... alarming. I'm pretty sure I know what you mean here— you want to give people certificates that they can put on resumés or CVs, but you and I cannot give Bachelor's degrees; there are actually very rigorous standards for doing so and this could very quickly get into legal trouble.
Or even if legality is taken off the table, we don't want to mislead a more naïve student into thinking we're giving them an accredited degree when we are not.
Something that might be worth thinking about is how we would "hold courses". The MSE chat room format is pretty poorly suited for teaching math, honestly, for at least two reasons that come to mind immediately: permanence (and thus implicitly, expectations for the students to 'perform') and one-dimensionality (at least we can use LaTeX but we don't want to expect competence with TikZ just to do something as trivial as discussing congruence theorems for triangles.)
I would very much like to hear ideas about managing the academic calendar. There is no particularly good reason to use the same calendar as a traditional university, although I don't immediately see any good reason to do something radically different. In any case, if the tutors have some flexibility with how long courses can last, or if courses last for different lengths of time, keeping tabs on progress etc. seems tricky.
I think your second point from the OP is oddly prescriptive. This philosophy looks very much like an Inquiry-Based Learning approach, or a Flipped Classroom model. Which is great, but it seems strange to be talking about this in the same breath as such massive, institution-defining concepts as the third and fourth points.
(But as long as we're talking models: may I throw my Mastery-Based Learning hat into the ring?)
Also, a thornier issue, somewhat more ideological: if MSEU claims to be "for all" then it must in particular be for disabled students. Clearly on an institutional level this is 'easy' to deal with, but providing these students with the benefits of the informal sessions that you suggest at the end of the second point, would also be our responsibility.
Independent of the disability concerns, serious attention needs to be paid to this informal aspect of the university. This is because it provides what I see as the only real advantage MSEU would offer over independent learning strategies— such as, say, watching Khan academy videos for two hours a day and asking questions on MSE proper).

It appears I found something to say, regardless :P

Also, the fact that you have not yet responded reminds me of another point about accessibility: the demographics of the tutors, specifically in which time zones they live. That will of course naturally determine when they are available, which in turn will have a strong influence on where their students will live.
Anyway, you may notice that these mostly aren't suggestions: I guess I'm just throwing ideas out there that I see as a little more specific than what you have in OP to try to facilitate the discussion.

@EricStucky Thanks for your constructive suggestions. First, I do not want to impose my thoughts on others. I think we are here to find people who are interested in this project, and then we will select a committee to make final decisions (But everyone can say his/her suggestions). When I see someone says his/her opinion, I also comment on his/her opinion. I think this is not bad since we need such conversations to reach the best way (My suggestions have no priority with respect to others).
Second, By saying "give graduated students Bachelor and PhD degrees" I do not mean "to give people ce

@MartinSleziak As I said before in my OP, this room has been created for people who are interested in this project.
You mentioned a few times that you would like to get your post on meta reopened. If this room is not suitable for suggesting improvements to the post - which could in turn lead to reopening - which room should be used for that.
In fact, the meta post might be not salvageable, but if you plan to make a new post on meta about MSE university, at least you could listen to users who may have suggestions how to make the post better.
However, I assume that you will remove my messages too - I have mentioned that I do not find this project on math.SE platform feasible and based on the most recent interaction it seems that you simply remove the messages you disagree with.

@SimplyBeautifulArt the key issue is that there is a big difference between answering a question that others may benefit from and doing a one on one tutoring session which only benefits one person. To make a university idea work, it really needs to focus on curriculum development in a way that scales well
people are most willing to share knowledge when it can have a large impact for the time they put in

3:11 PM
that's why the searchability is such a big thing for SE. The system is trying to maximize the number of people who can be helped by an answer by trying to keep things more organized than a forum or some other Q/A sites that tend to be more free-form

Well, @aminliverpool When you delete 50 messages to trash, you're being rather tyrannical in your administration of the chat. So I will not return here, since you want to silence anyone/everyone who disagrees with you. You'll end up with a chatroom, membership at one, that one being you.

4:07 PM
@amWhy in fairness, a lot of those messages are his own messages as well from a conversation that was more about him than the idea in the chat. Personally, I wouldn't have removed them as I think it's relevant overall, but I can see it being a distraction from the broader goal, particularly if he doesn't care if he's the one to administer the idea, but rather just a proponent of it. I didn't take the time to look through all 50 of the messages though
it certainly isn't a good sign, but it might not be outright tyrannical, even if it is probably ill-advised from the sake of appearances
there's unfortunately a lack of good tools for seeing what was moved

@AJ Perhaps "tyrannical" was too strong of an attribute. But this user has been incessant in his/her accusations that his/her voice and ideas are being silenced, or closed; so I found it quite interesting that in this chat, conversations/comments that include other users, along with this chat owner, are being trashed; i.e., s/he is acting in the manner which s/he condemns.

4:44 PM
@amWhy yes, indeed. I only spoke up about it because I'm still hoping that I can convince them to realize that isn't what is happening. I do still think they could be a great contributor, but they seem rather hellbent on pulling a donquixote, and that's what's going to happen with them if they don't realize they aren't actually in a minority and start looking for ways to make it fit better with the community as a whole

Hi
I got a bit stupid question :| ,
If i define a sequence $x_n=\frac{1}{n-1}$ it is convergent to 0 right?

and that would be a shame

But then how is every convergent sequence bounded.

@Mann This room has rather specific purpose. It would be better to ask either in the main chat room or in Calculus and Analysis room (or some other similar place).

@aminliverpool hm, I see your attitude. It appears I had false hopes that this room could be useful, but it appears not. Anyways, I already have Math.SE, my chats, and my thirty or so Kik groups to manage. If you are uncooperative with others, I see no reason for anyone to even attempt supporting you. Good luck finding 'tutors'.
@aminliverpool and for the record, those who've frowned upon your comments are the 99% who care. The 99% to which you speak of don't.
