@SirArthur7 Re. Maurice, I suggest to downvote the bad stuff... it is "mean", but it is also quality control, if you want to be kind, then drop a comment explaining why (although it's rather wasted on them)
uhm, apparently since you posted that, the question has been closed as opinion-based... which at first glance I'm not entirely sure I agree with, but I haven't read the Q closely enough to have a useful opinion on that
the HNQ aspect doesn't help it... literally everybody and their mother wants to chime in with their "contributions"
Hi y'all. I have found a real gem. Can we delete it?
I remember this one. Ouch.

@SirArthur7 "But it is poorly written. [...]" Says the one who consistently writes low quality answers and doesn't give a flying flamingo about formatting.
@SirArthur7 You can continue to raise these flags, some may agree, some might not. I personally prefer the down-vote and move on tactic.
@orthocresol There was the intentional post when we started: Introducing: Spring Cleaning But that got out of hand quickly and is not a reliable resource anymore. (Maybe we should put a historical lock on that one.) I'm pretty sure someone explains this room in some answer to a somewhat related question... but finding that...
I was going to say: the annoying thing is that I feel like I wrote that meta post, but I can't find it...
Then I realised I could just search my posts. -_-

A: Should we close old questions?

orthocresolOur current approach towards old questions is now less oriented towards site mechanisms (voting to close, voting to reopen, etc.) and more oriented towards Spring Cleaning. Although the meta post is a little old, the principles remain the same. If you are looking at an old question (+ answer) t...

I just found this
I still have it in the copy buffer ;)

Well there's still two more months to go until March next year
It's definitely happening
There has been plenty of work done, we went from >3000 uses down to less than 1000, and we really sorted out the bad ones. There are more coming in, and the system doesn't catch everything, but essentially we're doing good. :D Maybe I sounded a bit too worried, because I havn't had the time to do anything here for quite a while now...
the same can be said of the people who contributed frequently to this room, I reckon...
and there hasn't really been an influx of people interested in doing this work, or maybe we just haven't publicised it for a long time, so nobody's really come along
@SirArthur7 I've closed this. This shouldn't have gotten that big. But sometimes, when a question becomes a hot network question it develops a life on it's own...
@orthocresol Yes, it was my nail. There was plenty of figurative commentary in the question, and some of it read like pseudo science. Its had a few cv, and there was a flag to remove it from hnq, so I just did that... it can be reversed ;)
Okay, now I'm caught up ^^

10 hours later…

@orthocresol That was really funny, lol ;)
@Martin-マーチン Oh no. I was actually getting a hang of it. I mean it was really a nice feeling to be able to help you out in whatever way possible.
But of course, when the need is fulfilled there's obviously no more need of continuing it. I actually felt that this chat existed for long and was aimed at constant removal and improving such questions.
But the linked answers made it clear to me. Congratulations to all of you who have made this possible time and again. Well as @orthocresol pointed out, there's still 2 more months left out...but it would be great if we could make this by WinterBash2020, it could be kind of a Christmas gift to the site ;)
@SirArthur7 There are still 898 questions that could use a hand, so feel free to get a workout ;)
Also there is more, and more of recurring things not as easy to track. If you browse you'll see that some bad habit never die ;)
@Martin-マーチン Could you just let me know about how to search for such posts? I mean are these 898 about the homework tag? I just wanted to know clearly on what basis did you run this query. So that I could really help you guys out. I mean I dont know but I do feel a bit obliged being able to do it.
19:31
The pinne message ----> is a good start.
@orthocresol that's long unpinned... but I can repost it
@orthocresol Yeah I actually gave away 1 hard-earned rep of my own to downvote his answer but i also left a polite comment to guide him
Current query: [homework] is:question closed:no score:4.. Question count: 58 40 25 done
@Martin-マーチン I was going to pin it back, but the system complained that "the voting has been cleared by a moderator"?? I am a moderator too, you know!!!!11!
Hahaha! I know the feeling. That's when you realise, community is a better mad ;)

:)
Speaking of the query though, I recently had one that I didn't really understood, and it was all over the place, and the link to google books didn't really put up what s*he was writing about.... What shall we do?
@Martin-マーチン Yes I actually was surprised to see that question becoming HNQ despite being largely opinion based. @orthocresol I wont completetly disagree with you, maybe the question isnt really a waste after all, the sci-fi comments as well as answers are very much thought provoking, but i felt if theres a custom flag for such situations it must be raised.
@Martin-マーチン That'll require some real cutting back to bring it into a form that it is helpful for others...
I just thought I'll start with the most obnoxious title... wrong choice -.-
Could we edit this one a bit and remove the homework tag? It involves good concepts and it could offer to be a standard question for future posts to be marked duplicate?!
19:53
Sure go ahead, that'll probably be fine just editing out the tag and having a look at the answers to see if they are up to standard. When you do nothing but the tag make sure to write in the summary something with 'remove deprecated homework tag'
Aye aye captain
You don't need to post these questions, you just go ahead and edit them, if anything is unclear, you can still come back here and ask.
Yeah you're right these could unnecessarily spam this chat, but if there's any issue I'd report.
