@James Well, that just means there's still a chance for you to change your vote if you haven't voted correctly. ;-) (hint hint)
Besides, only about 12 hours to go...

3 hours later…
10:05
8 hours to go, if you've not voted yet you're running out of time :)

3 hours later…
13:04
7 hours to go, I think.
@HDE226868 I think that you are non-left.
@MichaelKjörling ?
@HDE226868 non-left = opposite of left = right
Ahhhhh. . .
It'll be interesting to see the outcome. All I know for sure is how I voted.

2 hours later…
14:54
...c'mon time!
....5 hours
15:23
...4 hours
@SerbanTanasa Ask a CM to change the server time.
should be able to do it easily by sql injection.

3 hours later…
18:35
... dum doom doom
drum rolls
19:03
57 minutes.
19:14
45 minutes.
Okay, looks like that embedding doesn't work.
That one's better.
@HDE226868 You could timeout this room for 40 minutes to get a countdown. ;-)
@Loong That would be an excellent example to set for the new mod. :-)
"Abuse your mod powers for special occasions!"
:-D
And we don't even see the countdown.
Clock stops at epoch 1487707200. Make your own counter.

Last year I had class until ten minutes before the election ended, and then it took me ten minutes to get back to my locker and then walk to the bus, so I didn't have to deal with any of the tension.
19:30
I was solving a tough data science problem
So what's with the diamond invasion in the room all of a sudden? :-)
Don't tell me @HDE226868 tipped people off in TL or something...
Not knowingly. . .
@HDE226868 I won the Workplace election while sitting in the airport after a job interview. Two successes in one day!
@HDE226868 Is that "if I did, then I couldn't mention it"? ;-)
@MonicaCellio And both related to the workplace, no less!
@MonicaCellio You got the job, I assume?
19:41
@MichaelKjörling I usually watch rooms via transcript. There was activity. :-)
@MichaelKjörling No, I actually haven't been in the TL today.
@HDE226868 Uh oh.
@MichaelKjörling yes, it was a thematic day. (Yes, I got the job.)
@MichaelKjörling we are here for the denouement
17 minutes... approximately.
And a dog who simply cannot understand what I am all worked up about.
19:44
@SerbanTanasa Epoch fail?
@HDE226868 True, false, fail not found.
@HDE226868 With the link, well, as long as it still works in 2037...
it's gonna work for the next 16 minutes
:0
I'm spending too much time near developers
I think it's starting to rub off on me
cast as int64
there, fixed
Nine minutes...
Only 37.5% of the candidates are in this room or the main room right now.
Less than five minutes.
@HDE226868 Spock voice on Given the number of candidates in the present election, your indicated level of precision in that measurement appears excessive. Spock voice off
19:56
So does the modding happen instantly for the winner, or do they have to set it up in the back end?
A golden light engulfs you
there is a heavenly choir
@AndyD273 At the very least you have to accept the moderator agreement manually, which the newly elected moderator can do at some point after the election ends. So there is some manual work involved at least for whoever comes out on top.
it's the boss behind you asking what are you doing instead of that report
Then someone shoves the mod agreement in your face.
150 seconds...
19:58
90
Less than one minute.
LAST CHANCE TO VOTE
2
DOING! (For anyone who wondered, that was the sound of the lithobraking of @SerbanTanasa's golden light.)
Well, that was fun.
Can I go home now? :-)
> 2,777 voters were eligible, 1,573 visited the site during the election, 823 visited the election page, and 472 voted
20:01
> Winner is JDługosz.
. . . who is not here right now.
@HDE226868 Must be present to win?
Ditto @HDE226868. Well, that was fun.
Though I will sincerely say that Worldbuilding SE could have done worse.
Wow, I was sure it was going to be either @MichaelKjörling or @James. Thanks to everybody who stood in a tough race!

Q: 2017 Community Moderator Election Results

Jon EricsonWorldbuilding's second moderator election has come to a close, the votes have been tallied, and the new moderator is: They'll be joining the existing crew shortly — please thank them for volunteering, and share your assistance and advice with them as they learn the ropes! For details on how t...

20:06
Congrats @JDługosz! You were one of my three votes :-)
And yay, another mod with an unpronounceable name.
@Randal'Thor I think that's a prerequisite by now.
Congrats!
The names seem to break OpenSTV.
@Loong Already been there.
20:09
@HDE226868 I said the same, but that didn't make it in time...
@Loong That link works fine, but the one Jon put in the results announcement doesn't ...
I see @JDługosz now has a diamond attached to his name.
@MichaelKjörling and I have just fixed his chat account.
@Loong I guess I'll just have to hold out on TL for another while. Kind of a bummer, I had it all planned and everything, and now this... :)
Anyway; sincerely, thanks to all who stood for a position, and thanks to all who voted.
