@Adám wasn't there a table that contained information about all APL/J/K implementations?

5:59 AM
@nathanrogers Not that I know of. ngn has one for K implementations, and APL Wiki has one for Running APL.

https://codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/211756/what-logic-gates-work-given-the-input working on this challenge, thinking something along the lines of
 'AND' 'NAND' 'OR' 'NOR' 'XOR' 'XNOR'/⍨{c=⍎⍕a,⍵,b}¨'∧⍲∨⍱≠='
and (a b c)←⎕
Not sure if there's clever golfing for the strings or clever golfing for other stuff

idk what I'm looking at but... cool?

@rak1507 it's for optimizing this within the constrains of Java
@rak1507 notice that the the 6 names are just 3, but with and without the 'N' prefix
also, though it doesn't work on TIO, dzaima/APL has these funky function "arrays"
@dzaima (or you could just use a regular train..)

12:23 PM
That's really cool

@dzaima Uh, XNOR break that. (I still don't understand why it isn't called NXOR.)

@Adám ah forgot :|

@dzaima Yup: ⋄ 'AND' 'NAND' 'OR' 'NOR' 'XOR' 'XNOR'⌿⍨1=1(∧,⍲,∨,⍱,≠,=)0

@Adám NAND OR XOR

well that's cool
can replace numbers with ⎕s probably

12:25 PM
@rak1507 exactly

@dzaima Why the 1=?

That's an example from the challenge

@Adám because the 1 in a hard-coded input

^
Another (obvious) thing is that nand = not and, etc, so you may only need to compute 3 functions?

@dzaima I don't get it.

12:27 PM
@rak1507 yep, can save a byte
@Adám in the actual solution there'd be a in place of the 1

I still don't get it.

Needs to find the valid logic gates so that A GATE B = C
in this case C = 1

@rak1507 Why not a single simple train: 'AND' 'NAND' 'OR' 'NOR' 'XOR' 'XNOR'⌿⍨∧,⍲,∨,⍱,≠,=
@rak1507 Ah, ok.

ay it's the new post

@rak1507 Slightly shorter: ('AndNandOrNorXorXnor'(1⎕C∊⊂⊣)⎕A)

12:34 PM
how does it separate the words?

By capitalisation

@Razetime Splits on membership of the uppercase alphabet.

@Adám you'd need to uppercase afterwards though

woah

Nahh, can probably get away with it

12:35 PM
so ⎕C afterwards

Oh, it is already upper cased

@dzaima Yes, but that costs only 1 byte in Extended.

this question has a problematic input format

Yes.

bend the rules a bit, I'm sure it's fine

12:38 PM
I agree. Taking each of the "digits" separately must be OK.
@rak1507 Actually, inserting the spaces makes it shorter overall if you use Extended. Try it online!

1:18 PM
If I get a DOMAIN ERROR when dividing a vector by a matrix using , does that mean that the system is under-specified, or shape mismatch, or ...?

@xpqz A shape mismatch would be LENGTH ERROR. It could be under-specified or near-singular.

1:40 PM
@Razetime You can't add a leading N, but maybe there's a good way to start with the negated versions and remove the first N?

@Marshall Did you mean to ping rak1507 and/or dzaima?

@Adám I meant @rak1507.

i've got 44 in dzaima/APL, taking input with s and returning a vector of charvecs (so excludes ⎕←)
@dzaima (also seems to work in Extended)

2:02 PM
@dzaima Okay, Java doesn't like to vectorize max and min I guess. Those results are about even with Dyalog but if you look at a longer index vector that doesn't jump around in cache like 4e5+↕1e4 (to force 4-byte ints) then Dyalog is nearly twice as fast.
@dzaima Did you try the Collections min() and max() methods?

@Marshall confusement

@Razetime To generate 'AND' 'NAND' 'OR' 'NOR' 'XOR' 'XNOR'. dzaima suggested using 'AND' 'OR' 'XOR' and adding N to the front, but XNOR doesn't follow the pattern. If you started with 'NAND' 'NOR' 'XNOR' instead you might get it to work, although the two Ns in NAND are troublesome.

2:18 PM
@Marshall no, didn't know those existed
(but they require a List instead of an array, and their impls doesn't suggest they could be performant)

@dzaima This answer converts an array to a list, but you're right that it's probably not fast. The next answer mentions summaryStatistics as something with better performance.

@Marshall 11800‿12503 yeah no
holy the Stream crap that goes through to evaluate…
ok thanks for letting me know to never use streams

2 hours later…
4:40 PM
@xnor why didn't you follow the pattern

Does RIDE have multi-line input for dfns on by default? Or was it something I turned ON by accident..? or has it always supported this?

Jul 30 at 18:57, by RGS
Maybe by first running some magical command to enable the experimental multiline input?

RGS
@dzaima thanks for the throwback! I didn't remember that convo, @dzaima
But back then I talked about jupyter books, right?

@RGS (not that i did either, i just searched chat for DYALOG_LINEEDITOR_MODE after i found it on help.dyalog.com)

RGS
@dzaima ah so you are saying that RIDE is starting with DYALOG_LINEEDITOR_MODE=1 probably?

@RGS something like that; gtg
