I got tired of not having each-right & each-left, so now there's finally and in my APL

@dzaima Why not ` and ´ ?
@dzaima Or maybe double left and right "fancy" quotation marks. More like each, but leaning left and right…
@dzaima So that's ⍥∞ ¯1 and ⍥¯1 ∞ right?

@Adám probably. reminds me to implement ⍥A (and ⍤A, but i don't like dealing with the rank things that brings up)
@Adám ticks feel too similar, same with quotes, i feel there should be a reasonably big difference between the two

@dzaima « and »? I just don't think and look right for "each".

@Adám hmm, those could work. i agree that the quads look a bit strange, but the couple previous times i asked what could be good characters, nothing good came up

@dzaima Hold on, and / Fonts may render funny, but the Unicode reference shape is good.

9:48 PM
@Adám huh, i thought i looked everywhere enough to be sure ᐵ wasn't a character

@dzaima You mean the reverse, left-pointing.

yeah

Only the right-pointing is in the APL range.
The other two are in Canadian Syllabics.

definitely messes with monospace, but every font issue can be resolved by making a new font

and could work as one-to-many and many-to-one indicators, but slightly confusable with and
@dzaima and look more APL operatory.
@dzaima f⪽ and f⪾ are easy to remember as (f¨)∘⊂ and ⊂⍛(f¨)

9:54 PM
@Adám I don't think anything beats operatory-lookingness than a diaeresis

@dzaima True, and much more so when these are really just fancified eaches.
@dzaima and ?
@dzaima and

@dzaima Wait, what? How?

@Adám copy-pasted the symbol over and and replaced the < with >

@dzaima Sure, but what are you using to edit the font, and is it really that easy for you? Read: can we ask you to assist if we need APL385/333 amended in the future?

10:05 PM
@Adám I still half-remember how to use FontForge from that time I joined APL385 with DejaVu and made fancy underscore characters to Canvas. i know nothing about how to make fonts, but i can use copy-paste when needed :p
oh the font i edited was an old version of my APL385+DejaVu mono, where everything was still horrible ಠ_ಠ

@dzaima Maybe you want to make some fixes to the fonts, like adding the assigned-but-missing chars like ѐ and ђ (they are mostly just combinations of existing glyphs) and adding missing glyphs like you just did and those used by NARS like and ?

@Adám DejaVu seems to have taken care of those (though obviously with mismatches like the e's not being the same), but copying around other things seems plausible. here's the APL385+DejaVu font (without these changes i've just made)

10:22 PM
@dzaima Oh, you didn't rename the font internally, so I don't think I can have both installed, can I?
@dzaima One that always bothers me is that a is very ugly. Just copy it from á. e isn't very nice either. Copy from é. Etc. etc.

@Adám oh, seems I only had renamed old version. I could rename it, but for the time being i've been using this to play around
@Adám i mean i'm no font artist, but APL385 doesn't have serifs pretty much anywhere and making a an exception feels strange

@dzaima But surely a shouldn't have two looks, depending on whether it has diacritics.

@Adám right, but the question is which way to convert them. i guess it doesn't look too jarring and doesn't make much of a difference, but it still feels strange

10:37 PM
@dzaima I don't care much about the serif, but the upper curve of the naked a is just wrong.

@Adám hmm, i can't really see any noticeable difference between the two until about 300% zoom (when by some reason it gets very apparent), but imo even then the extra height looks better
@Adám is supposed to be a reversed ?

10:53 PM
@dzaima I think so.

hm, wiki says it's not an function/operator and apparently is NaN, so probably being different from a reversed is good

@dzaima Yeah, maybe the slash should be short and 45°, not like

which is pretty much what it already is (except the ends aren't rounded like in )

@dzaima Now I'm getting sucked into FontForge.

@Adám yeah, it's fun to try to use after you've figured out how to open & save a file :p

11:02 PM
@dzaima I still find the UI very annoying. How do I hide all the undefined? How do I go to a codepoint?

@Adám go to codepoint = ctrl+shift+>, but after that i don't know much. hence the "try to use"

@dzaima That lets me type the name. I just want to go to U+220B
