@RGS The ISO spec says the same.

@EliasMårtenson well, that settles it :)

@Adám The link in the install section of dracula theme (draculatheme.com/dyalog-apl-windows-ide) gives an error 404

@MasterQuiz Hey there, that's not working yet indeed.
What you can do is download the github repository and then "run" the .reg file.
It will ask you to modify the Windows registry and if you accept, it will install the colour scheme in your Windows IDE.
That's because the Windows IDE stores colour configuration in the registry.

@RGS I've Installed the theme, but I thought that it may be an error, so I've wrote.

RGS
Ah alright :) I just wanted to let you know you could install it either way :)

4:31 PM
@RGS Is there a way to modify the line color when selected? By default it's white, I'd like to keep it black

RGS
Yes there is, give me a second to figure out the config.
I don't know it by heart
I also prefer it that way :)
Under Options → Colours → Syntax try checking the two bottom checkboxes: prnt.sc/1142roe
Lmk if that worked for you.

@RGS Yes, it worked, much better now. Thanks

RGS
Anytime :)
I'm no Adám, but there's plenty of people that can help you, namely myself :D

↑ That sentence makes no sense. I meant "I'm no Adám, but I'm here to help" + "There's always people here that can help you"

@rak1507 Some of the idioms are only optimising specific cases. ,/ is only for vectors of vectors/scalars, and so ⍪⌿ etc. would be misleading.
@RGS Not so. You can disable "Only current input line".

RGS
@Adám AHHHHH game changer

@MasterQuiz Yeah, that'll only work if/when they accept my contribution. Though there's really no reason to give installation instructions if I'm in a position to include the theme with the product rather than supplying it as a 3rd party add-on.

@user15553252 Hi Otto Diesenbacher-Reinmüller. If you want to participate here, just email access@apl.chat

@Adám I love this color scheme! The green on black is probably still my favorite but this is a very clean color scheme that has a modern feel to it (something that is lacking in the current default schemes provided). I think you're right and we should add this to 18.1

10:22 PM
@JoshD Thank you. Here's my attempt at RIDE:

RGS
@Adám Can't you/won't you colour monadic and dyadic ops differently?
And those, differently from functions?

@RGS I thought about it, but the spec doesn't really fit APL very well. Also, RIDE doesn't distinguish between hybrids and monadic operators.
One thing I've deviated from the spec with, is colouring braces/parens/brackets like functions (cyan) instead of foreground (white).

I think that makes sense

I think that fits APL better, as those are often more like built-ins than simply punctuation.

RGS
Yeah, you could also deviate from the spec to colour ops differently but if RIDE support for that is lacking, then sure

10:29 PM
RIDE can do something (the IDE can't), but I'm not sure if it is more harm than good.

oh no I just spotted the label in the tradfn, I thought no one used → anymore

Labels are sometimes used to jump out of deeply nested control structures.

RGS
Alright, just wondering
Well, I'm going for now ○/

Another annoying thing in RIDE is that it doesn't distinguish between system functions and system variables, so if I want unlocalised ⎕IO to stand out (orange) then even safe stuff like ⎕NR becomes orange :-(

why would you differentiate quads by type but not functions/operators/arrays?

10:35 PM
The type isn't the point here, it is local vs global.
I have local user-defined names in white, and global user-defined names in orange. I'd like the same for local vs global quad names.

+ is global but is local

Sure, but that never matters.
There's no need to localise ⎕NR, but if you use ⎕IO (probably as ⎕IO←) then it is nice to be reminded to localise it.

Nice, I hope we can get the Dracula site to accept this, I don't see why they wouldn't.

@JoshD Why even bother submitting it, if we can get it bundled with the product?

One difference I see is the in the Windows IDE is that ⍺ and ⍵ in a DFN are white but in the RIDE version they have a light blueish color

10:44 PM
Yes, RIDE has a very different approach to dfns. Whatever colour I choose there, determines braces, , , :, :: :-(
It is really intent on forcing the implementers usage, namely a distinct colour for each level of dfn nesting.
Of course, that isn't very useful if you don't tend to nest dfns a lot.

@Adám I was mainly thinking it would be better for more APL visibility: people on the dracula theme website might be interested if they saw it and then went to learn more about APL. But that exposure might be insignificant

@Adám I still think it makes sense to color braces and its variables the same color, regardless of nesting

@dzaima Variables, maybe, although I think and are distinct enough. I'd like a different colour for : to make it stand out. It is really a flow control, so it should be pink.

Yes it is good to make ":" stand out

I'd love a scheme that was sensitive to my naming convention, and coloured both primitives and quad-names by type as well.
