10:40 AM
@Adám looks like the download link arrived, still not sure for the "£75" though
oh wait
> the £75 is no longer applicable but was never removed from the internal notification
lol

@EriktheOutgolfer Cute. Have fun.
Guess who that bug will be logged against…

you right?
:p
also let's try to fix slow download link (i.e. password to download) arrivals

@EriktheOutgolfer Yup. Currently all CustomerRelationsManager bugs are on me.
@EriktheOutgolfer That is due to manual confirmation.

@Adám sorry then! but you got to fix yet another bug!!! :p
(or whoever does the fixing)
@Adám so...can we please include that in the automated email instead of a confusing and meaningless "£75"? ;-)

@EriktheOutgolfer Yeah, now that we've hired Michael…

10:45 AM
and no it wasn't in any "spam folder"

@EriktheOutgolfer I'm not sure I understand the timeline here. (For good reasons, I rarely apply for licenses.) Besides for your special correspondence with Karen, how many emails did you receive, and when (relative to your form submission)?

one email after half an hour or so, and another after I shut my laptop down (~20:45 GMT with DST)
but let me check
wow
actually they were sent at the same time but arrival was probably belated
probably let's blame that to my mail provider then!

OK.

I'll update karen so that there's less of a possibility you "get logged" :p

Occasionally I have very late arriving emails (and various other communication forms too).
@EriktheOutgolfer Ah, doesn't matter.
But the £75 should be fixed.

10:57 AM
@Adám yeah I'll not get you out of that situation :-)
better fix it quickly...anyways, time to download!

@EriktheOutgolfer Have fun with it. Let me know if you need any help. What OS are you on?

ubuntu, so will probably have to compile from sources (not the dyalog apl source) if there's no .deb

@EriktheOutgolfer Compile what?

like, with commands such as make
btw yesterday I downloaded the docs and organized them in folders, in a docs folder

@EriktheOutgolfer Oh no, what a waste. Your install will come with all relevant docs!

11:01 AM
bleh the download is slow
@Adám oh so that's why it's slow?
alright, I'll delete the folder then
but didn't really have anything to do at that time anyways :p

Also, you probably won't need any other documentation than help.dyalog.com.

alright there's a .deb in it

@EriktheOutgolfer I'd sure hope so. Dyalog APL is a closed source commercial product.

as I said above, I wasn't referring to apl's sources
was referring to the "sources"

The download should be ready to go as-is.

11:04 AM
oh no
I opened the .deb and clicked "install" but nothing happened...?

Uh…

except that doesn't what I did do what is described there?

@EriktheOutgolfer I don't know. Are you sure it wasn't installed silently?

yes, I can't run dyalog
and no repo changes afaict
oh wait
I actually needed dpkg lol
is there any gui to this?

@EriktheOutgolfer I was about to say, you should go get RIDE.

11:11 AM
gotta download them all before the 14-day period ends and I can't login to mydyalog anymore

@EriktheOutgolfer RIDE is available from github too.

also this isn't very descriptive of what I download
> RIDE 4.0 for Linux (deb)
RIDE 4.0 for Linux (rpm)
RIDE 4.0 for Linux (deb)
RIDE 4.0 for Linux (rpm)
apparently the top two ones are the 64-bit and the below ones are the 32-bit?
and also is there a reason behind needing a dss subscription after 14 days other than profit?

@EriktheOutgolfer DSS is a lot more than just continuous availability; instant and guaranteed support, various services, on-site help if needed, etc. However, imho, it doesn't really make sense that the free personal license isn't perpetual, as you're free to re-apply for another 14 days at any time – indefinitely. It just keeps Karen busy approving licenses.

alright
probably a bit misleading towards marketing profits maybe? :-p

@EriktheOutgolfer I've sent an email complaining about this.

11:20 AM
thanks

11:53 AM
@EriktheOutgolfer Please forward that email to support@

12:09 PM
do I have to?
done

@EriktheOutgolfer Thanks. Problem is that I'm not actually working today, so someone else will take care of it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm fine, the only thing that I want is bug-free stuff (wait that exists does it?)

2 hours later…
