Interesting coincidence: two questions, each by a new user, posted within minutes of each other, both prompted by To Pray as a Jew. Our first two questions ever to mention that book. I wonder if someone is teaching a class with that as the text and suggested MY for follow-up questions.

The author of the second question, following the link in her profile, is an interesting woman named Shira who, among many other things, blogs and learns Daf Yomi. This section of her website looks like a potentially very useful resource.

This post of hers would seem to disprove my class hypothesis.

@DoubleAA OK, I agree that the first one may refer to Tanach or may refer to the Pentateuch. Other than that, why are you more certain about the meaning of "Bible" in these questions than you are in this one?

@DoubleAA The question at hand says asks why stuff other than the Pentateuch is in the Bible, which assumes that it is. That's equivalent to those inferences. I'm having trouble understanding your general statement. Are you suggesting that, in this case, OP might have meant something totally off-the-wall by "Holy Bible"?

@IsaacMoses Totally off the wall to your lexicon. Could be something like an Oral Law/rabbis question couched in these terms. Maybe something about printing haftorot/translations/commentary in the stone chumash. We have the ability to put things on hold and edit precisely so that we ensure the op gets what they want. closing isn't rejecting, as you know.

@DoubleAA I assume you mean se'if 3, in which case, I stand chastised. However, does se'if 4 qualify se'if 3? If so, I guess I'm in compliance. Also, I think se'if 4 would be another proof that Chazal had a sense of humor, in addition to R' Rakeffet's frequent citation of "Talmidei chachamim increase peace in the world" (Ber. 64a) as a proof thereof.

@DoubleAA I think (or at least hope) we can agree that any interpretation of natural language requires picking a context-dependent threshold for ambiguity and ignoring all possible interpretations whose likelihood fall below that threshold. Also that said threshold for SE questions is higher than one would apply in, say, conversation. I think we disagree about exactly how high to set that threshold and also about what likelihoods apply to various specific interpretations. ...

Bring in a minor?

In particular, here, I think that Oral Law and non-Pentateuch content in a Chumash (and all other interpretations) are sufficiently less likely than Tanach to be the correct interpretation of "Holy Bible" in this context that they are below the threshold.
