@Downgoat Fyi, the new backend URL is tio.run/cgi-bin/run. The old backend.tryitonline.net/run will cease to exit soon.
01:04
ah ok, thanks, updated
The same applies for languages.js.
Oh, and donate should be tio.run/nexus/#community.
ah ok, fixed
Thanks!
01:43
@Dennis could you pull Stacked please?
Done.
whoops, forgot to add something to the commit, sorry. please pull again?
Done again.
@Dennis Oh, I need to update the test runner
@Dennis Are you going to do away with the entire domain?
01:48
Yes, that's the plan.
@Dennis needs to be removed from the setup repo too then, when it happened. Including the readme
I can do this, when you give me a sign ;)
OK, will do. :)
02:47
@WheatWizard Maybe it'll get more users once it's on TIO... I'll happily add it if you want to.
@Dennis Ok, I said I would ask you to add it when someone else used it, and well, it looks like that requirement has just been fulfilled
@WheatWizard Do you happen to have a Hello World program?
@Dennis Not at the moment. Do you want me to make one?
If it's not too much trouble. We use those for automated tests.
What type of punctuation?
02:52
Hello, World! if possible.
Ok first I have to see if I ever implemented ASCII mode
8 messages moved from The Nineteenth Byte
Hope you don't mind me moving this here. Easier to keep track of things.
@Dennis No problem. I have a solution but it is quite long and I could certainly golf it down. You don't care about length for these things right?
Not at all.
03:03
It working. :) Give me a sec to deploy.
@WheatWizard tio.run/nexus/…
:)
That's pretty short permalink when compared to the code.
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how any of this is related to my web service.
@Dennis You just put the input as command line arguments. Link
03:19
@WheatWizard Yes, I figured out that this works. Mistah said Ah, command line arguments and you replied It does not do that for my local copy, so I assumed STDIN should work as well.
Ok I see, I was not responding to that particular statement
03:32
@Dennis I just added the ability to read input from a file with the -f command. Its a little bare bones right now but if it helps feel free to pull.
@WheatWizard I try to stay as close as possible to the original interpreter, so I'd rather not if it's possible to get input from the args. If you want to read input from a file, you can always add -f .input.tio as command-line arguments.
Did I do something wrong? or is it just too soon
tio.run/nexus/wise#@29lZxP3/7/pf900vcy8gtISvZLMfAA and tio.run/nexus/wise#@29lZxP3/7/pf920/3qZeQWlJXolmfkA work, but the way you entered it, the filename begins with a space.
ah, gotcha
Now the real question: does this add to my byte count...?
Yes, which is why you should just take input from CLAs. ;)
03:43
@Dennis How does Brain-Flak take input?
I still haven't added STDIN reading for RProgN2.
I'd have to check.
I probably should do that.
I think I also wrote the input for Brain-Flak and I'm pretty sure it works in a similar method
Yes, you're right. It has been that way since v1.
03:46
Now I am quite confused
The Brain-Flak interpreter on TIO shouldn't do what it's doing. But it's too late to change it now.
Ok got it
I probably tried with STDIN, skimmed over the code to find an input method, and picked the first one I saw. My bad.
Oh by the way, amusingly but ultimately irrelevantly, I did write a hello world before today, I just forgot about it.
And that one's a teensy bit shorter. ;)
03:53
indeed

3 hours later…
06:57
@Dennis can you add Visual Prolog and Ceylon?

2 hours later…
08:33
@ГригорийПерельман This one? infoworld.com/article/2624027/java/…
Visual Prolog
"The use of the Personal Edition is restricted to learning the Visual Prolog on a private basis or for teaching Prolog on Universities and other educational establishments. All other uses require that you obtain a license to the Visual Prolog Commercial Edition.

You are permitted to:

use the Personal Edition at home for learning Visual Prolog.
use the Personal Edition at educational institutions for teaching and learning Visual Prolog.
make as many copies of the Visual Prolog Personal Edition as you wish; give unmodified copies of the Visual Prolog Personal Edition installation program to
Installing it on a site that provides a service is not listed in acceptable use
While it's certainly not commercial, it is not educational (for TIO itself, not for its users) either

2 hours later…
10:36
@AndrewSavinykh What prevents you from asking for a free license (just as with Dyalog)? TIO would promote Visual Prolog without allowing commercial use.

5 hours later…
16:02
@AndrewSavinykh Yes
Sorry, I didn't notice the license for Visual Prolog.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
6 hours ago, by Adám
@AndrewSavinykh What prevents you from asking for a free license (just as with Dyalog)? TIO would promote Visual Prolog without allowing commercial use.
17:09
@Adám Yeah, but people actually use Dyalog on TIO. I don't think enough people would use Visual Prolog for it to be worth going through all the hassle of getting a license.

1 hour later…
Okx
Okx
18:22
Is there a TIO API?
Okx
Okx
19:00
@Dennis Also, can you pull fireball?
@Okx Yes and no. A REST api is planned but you can call tio.run/cgi-bin/run even today. There is not documentation at this point (again, planned), you'll have to look at the source code and ask question here until you figure out how it works. There was a conversation on this topic earier in this chat that gives some details, I'll try to find it for you
@Okx A couple of messages down from here: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/36046071#36046071

@Okx, below are some links to look at:
This is how request is fromed in javascript:
https://github.com/TryItOnline/main-server/blob/master/tio.run/index.html#L892

This is how it's formed in c#
https://github.com/TryItOnline/TioTests/blob/master/src/TestRunner.cs#L105

This is how it's formed in Python
https://github.com/TryItOnline/main-server/blob/master/bin/self-test

And this is how it's parsed by the server:

when you are using java...
I know that it is not exactly very easy to understand at present, sorry about that.
@Okx not in the cards right now ;)

3 hours later…
23:41
@Okx Done.
Sorry for the delay.
