@DJMcMayhem The logs of v1 are sadly lost. I don't have the DO snapshot anymore, and I didn't download them either (multiple Gigabytes, slow internet connection). Are you interested in the Nexus logs? They only cover the last three months plus/minus a few days.

@Dennis sure

@DJMcMayhem OK, since Dec 1 until today, V has been used 7867 times.
Only counts Nexus, not v2.

How many people have run a program from v2, at all? Curious.

@DJMcMayhem That makes it the sixth most used language btw.

12:17 AM
Cool!

What's the first most used language?

Jelly?

Yes.

I'm guessing the top six are jelly, osabie, retina, ... Uh...

osabie?
Oh, 05ab1e

12:18 AM
@Pavel 7878 in the same time frame.
Here's the top 20:
  41672 jelly
  30389 05ab1e
  14540 python2
  14440 bash
   9771 retina
   7872 v
   7561 c-gcc
   6986 python3
   6808 cjam
   5827 brachylog2
   5461 brain-flak
   4793 matl
   3944 j
   3801 perl6
   3728 perl
   3530 pyth
   3251 haskell
   3089 brainfuck
   2971 powershell
   2226 java-openjdk

I run bash TIO whenever I want to look at something's man page.

I use it to test stuff before actually changing things on the server.

Also, can you add Words to TIO? I checked /usr/share/dict/ and it's empty.

Done.

Thanks
I just cated linux.words and it froze the tab ;-;
I just did it again. Why did I do that again?

12:47 AM
It froze the tab? On which device/browser?

1:09 AM
@Dennis Words?

/usr/share/dict/words is a dictionary that's present by default on most desktop distros.

@Dennis so how to add it?

dnf install words or dnf install /usr/share/dict/words.

@Dennis I'll add this

Thanks!

1:30 AM
@Dennis Chrome on Windows 10
It's also a really bad laptop with a ton of crap put on it by my school, so it probably just couldn't handle that much output.

What exactly do you mean by freeze? The wheel stops for a split second here, but that's about it.

The page stops doing anything. I can't scroll, interact with fields, click the back button, refresh the page, etc.
Closing the tab works.

O_O

2 hours later…
3:43 AM
@Dennis Syms?

And add compiler options while you're at it.

@CalculatorFeline I'd need an example program to test if it's working. Preferably Hello World.
@Pavel Sure, because that totally takes the same amount of time as adding a language. :P

Hello World? That's just {Hello world!}>.

@CalculatorFeline Is it Syms or syms?

The file is syms.py. (Who capitalizes their program names?)

3:52 AM
.NET developers, but that's not what I meant.
Should I capitalize the language's name on TIO and auto-generated permalinks or not?
I'm asking since the <h1> title on GitHub says syms. But you seem to use Syms everywhere else, so I'll go with that for now.

The language itself is called Syms. (Who capitalizes their repository names?)

@CalculatorFeline i do

.NET developers.

Good to know.

And the <h1> title in your README.md is unrelated to your repo name. :P

4:01 AM
bloody .NET developers

;)

What do they think they're doing, ripping off my beautiful Java with this C# thing

I suspect this is because of NTFS's case-insensitivity. Mixed cases are a pain on ext4.

I've always wondered what happens if a make two files called a and A on WSL, but never at any point when I have access to WSL.

World Surf League?

4:10 AM
Windows Subsystem for Linux

@Dennis Feature request: If the program is stopped manually, can existing output be displayed? This would make debugging infinite loops in Syms easier (and probably a few other languages)

I'll look into it.

8 hours later…
12:14 PM
@Pavel I think I've linked you this many times, but here wo go. This will answer all misconceptions or questions about WSL: youtube.com/watch?v=36Ykla27FIo

3 hours later…
3:38 PM
@Dennis question: are you able to tell me how many time Cheddar has been run on TIO?

Only how many times it was run from Nexus. I can't gather the data for your client.

1 hour later…
4:57 PM
@Dennis Please pull Syms.

@CalculatorFeline Done.

@Downgoat Since December, 156 Cheddar snippets were run from Nexus. Another 604 were run from your client, but I don't have any reliable data when it comes to the languages.

5:42 PM
Hm, thanks

1 hour later…
7:11 PM
Compiler flags should be available in the next 12 hours. I'll have to add them one by one for the languages though, so now would be a good time to mention that language X needs them.

7:26 PM
@Dennis Could you please pull Japt when you get a chance?

@ETHproductions Done.

Thanks :-)

8:19 PM
@Dennis Java 8 and 9, C/C++, PHP, VBN, C#, F#
@Dennis Kotlin, Groovy, Scala (Not sure about those, but they are JVM langs)

@Dennis Vala

What's the difference between compiler flags and CLAs?
Are CLAs put when executing the compiled file?

@Downgoat command --compilerflags filename --CLAs

Anonymous
@Downgoat A compiler flag is passed to the compiler. A CLA is passed to the executable.

Anonymous
So for compiling a C file, you'd have gcc [compiler flags] -o a a.c && ./a [CLAs]

8:30 PM
@Pavel those are interpreter flags for Perl and PHP and such
This is a list of notable programming languages, grouped by type. (Because there is no overarching classification scheme for programming languages, in many cases a language will be listed under multiple headings). == Array language == Array programming (also known as vector or multidimensional) languages generalize operations on scalars to apply transparently to vectors, matrices, and higher-dimensional arrays. == Assembly languages == Assembly languages directly correspond to a machine language (see below) so machine code instructions appear in a form understandable by humans. Assemb...
