@Werner pdftex it is from the guts of pdftex if you try to make two pdf internal anchors with the same name
@DavidCarlisle I just updated everything on my Linux, using steps shown here askubuntu.com/questions/163682/… and still get the same error. looking at versions of tex4ht and latex after running the above steps in the web page, nothing changes in Latex on my Linux box.
add \listfiles to your preamble, run with pdflatex then compare with

  pdftex.def    2011/05/27 v0.06d Graphics/color for pdfTeX
@Nasser I note I'm running a November 2012 hyperref
@DavidCarlisle thanks. I get this:

size10.clo 2007/10/19 v1.4h Standard LaTeX file (size option)

graphics.cfg 2010/04/23 v1.9 graphics configuration of TeX Live
pdftex.def 2011/05/27 v0.06d Graphics/color for pdfTeX
@Nasser so you want a newer hyperref
@DavidCarlisle, Ok, but how? can I download the .sty file manually from CTAN? Where did you say I should put it? Should I overwrite these from whatever is in CTAN now?

>locate hyperref.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/generic/oberdiek/hobsub-hyperref.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/hyperref/hyperref.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/hyperref/nohyperref.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/interfaces/interfaces-hyperref.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/oberdiek/zref-hyperref.sty
I think I'll add a line to my Makefile BEFORE calling pdflatex to always delete .aux files. May be this is easier. And just wait for TL 2013. Thanks.
I ordered the DVD from tug when I joined about week ago.

Anyone: I'm trying to run biber and it fails to find one of my bib files:
INFO - Looking for bibtex format file 'johnson.bib' for section 0
FAILURE
Yet this file and the other .bib file are in the same directory.
@Nasser well as a test you can just dump al the new hyperref files in the same directory as your document then tex will use them. or TL2013 is nearly ready as you say:-)
@AlanMunn Did you use \addbibresource?
@DavidCarlisle, oh, I did not know that, i.e. it will look at current folder by default. Yes, that is good idea,. will try that.
Yes. I tried it either in the same \addbibresource command as the other .bib file, and also as a separate command, and also by itself.
@AlanMunn \addbibresource{johnson.bib}?
21:22
@egreg Yes.
@AlanMunn Strange.
@DavidCarlisle, Ok, I still get the error. I downloaded http://tug.org/applications/hyperref/ and put all the files in the same folder:

>ls -l *.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 12774 Nov 7 2012 backref.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 3437 Jan 28 2010 bmhydoc.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 231792 Nov 7 2012 hyperref.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 86550 Jan 28 2010 minitoc-hyper.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 12847 Nov 7 2012 nameref.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 2242 Nov 7 2012 nohyperref.sty
-rwxrwxrwx 1 me me 33660 Jan 28 2010 ntheorem-hyper.sty
and still get the same error.
may be I need to rehash thing
can be closed TL (see OP comment) (unfortunately there isn't a close category specifically for claiming there is a problem with longtable) tex.stackexchange.com/questions/117784/…
@Nasser won't help (current directory is always used without the hashed path)
I did

diff hyperref.sty /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/hyperref/hyperref.sty

and I see so many differences
@DavidCarlisle Uh! A longtable question that doesn't resolve in finding a bug! Too bad you didn't provide an \endfirstfoot command, though.
21:26
cat on local hyperref.sty says:

\NeedsTeXFormat{LaTeX2e}[1995/12/01]
\ProvidesPackage{hyperref}
[2012/11/06 v6.83m %
@egreg No need, Heiko provided one in an answer on site the other day
On the one in /usr/share says

NeedsTeXFormat{LaTeX2e}[1995/12/01]
\ProvidesPackage{hyperref}
[2012/05/13 v6.82q %
@egreg I don't have a clue how to debug this. There doesn't seem to be much about errors in the biber manual.
@DavidCarlisle Maybe he can write a z-longtable package
9
A: Caption at foot of long tables ('longtable' package)

Heiko OberdiekYou can try the following example. That adds \endfirstfoot. \documentclass{article} \usepackage[a6paper,showframe]{geometry} \usepackage{longtable} \makeatletter \newbox\LT@firstfoot \def\endfirstfoot{\LT@end@hd@ft\LT@firstfoot} \newdimen\LT@footdiff \def\LT@start{% \let\LT@start\endgraf \e...

21:28
@AlanMunn Can you build a MWE?
% !TEX TS-program = pdflatexmk

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[backend=biber,style=authoryear]{biblatex}
\addbibresource{johnson.bib}
\begin{document}
\cite{halle:1993b}
\end{document}
But it's particular to this .bib file, which is large. (3.4 MB)
If I use my other .bib file it works.
@AlanMunn Try with biber --debug filename
Ok. I have to go right now. I'll check when I come back. Thanks.
21:53
@AlanMunn a txt file with 3.4 MB -- How many entries do you have?
@MarcoDaniel one physics paper listing everyone at CERN probably
@DavidCarlisle lol
22:21
@tohecz Hi, Tom! How's it going with the flood?
@egreg Czechia got over the highest point
I go to my sis' place tomorrow to see the "results"
@tohecz Let's hope for the best.
btw, your solution very much resembles mine :)
@tohecz Really. I just made the subscript optional.
and I hit the "Answer" button at the same time as the red banner appeared
@egreg it's optional for me, too ;)
22:26
@tohecz Oh, yes! Great minds think alike, somebody would say. ;-)
2
@egreg yep /toast
btw, I wait for someone to come with a TikZ solution /shrug
I just wait when he says: but I can't do \jjoin^2_{i\in I} :D
btw, I made it without any \def, have you noticed? :D
@egreg yours seem to be wrong:
@tohecz And you got the green tick. I made mine more generic, so one can build different operators with the same behavior.
\documentclass{article}
\makeatletter
\newcommand{\jjoin}[1]{\@ifnextchar_{\@jjoin{#1}}{\@jjoin{#1}_{}}}
\def\@jjoin#1_#2{
  \mathchoice{\@jjoin@display{#1}{#2}}
             {\bigvee\nolimits^{#1}_{#2}}
             {\bigvee\nolimits^{#1}_{#2}}
             {\bigvee\nolimits^{#1}_{#2}}
}
\def\@jjoin@display#1#2{
  \mathop{\bigvee\limits_{#2}\!{\vphantom{\bigvee}}^{#1}}
}
\makeatother

\begin{document}
\[
\jjoin{(J)}_{i,j,k\in I} X_i
\qquad
\jjoin{(J)} X_i
\qquad
\textstyle\jjoin{(J)}_{i\in I} X_i
@MarcoDaniel ~6000
@tohecz In what sense?
22:33
@AlanMunn Do you provide a bib-file for all books in your university library? ;-)
@AlanMunn Holy cow!
@egreg This produces the following very unhelpful log:
@egreg the (J) goes too far to the right
biber -debug levelling-Chicago
INFO - This is Biber 1.5
INFO - Logfile is 'levelling-Chicago.blg'
INFO - DEBUG mode: all messages are logged to 'levelling-Chicago.blg'

Abort trap: 6
22:35
@tohecz I didn't think to that. I'll rethink.
@tohecz @egreg hmph I had to vote for both of you seeing as you both posted working answers before I'd fixed mine :) (well :( really
@DavidCarlisle sorry for that
@tohecz no need to be sorry, I just hate voting for @egreg:-)
@MarcoDaniel No, but it does contain full indexes of a lot of the major journals in the field. It actually was created by a friend of mine who I think had some money to pay a student to enter all the data (not by hand, of course.)
@egreg I really enjoyed the vowel -> @ naming convention for this operator ;)
22:41
@tohecz Now it's fixed.
@AlanMunn the poor student -- Hey honey how was your day -- honey @misc ;-)
@MarcoDaniel LOL
@DavidCarlisle Aahhh, found it in pdftex.web in procedure warn_dest_dup. Thanks.
With document structures being so different, I'm tempted to do a personal investigation into eliminating these problems of "duplicate destination names" and perhaps provide a canonical question/answer on that...
@AlanMunn: This .bib file, did it work before?
anyways, I'll have a tough day tomorrow, so good night
22:46
@tohecz night.
@tohecz Good night, Tom. :)
@PauloCereda Yes, definitely. And it works fine with bibtex and natbib.
Actually, I don't know for sure that I've used it before with biber. But it definitely works with bibtex.
So my minimal document works with backend=bibtex but not backend=biber.
So biber clearly doesn't like it.
@AlanMunn I suspect memory overflow with biber.
@PauloCereda Ah, that could be. When I googled trap 6 I got stuff that was about errors in a variety of languages. It also might be related to Mountain Lion.
@AlanMunn I'm going into the source code, gimme a minute. :)
22:54
@PauloCereda Because my own .bib file, which has ~3000 entries works fine.
