@JG Well, the first paragraph says that media9 requires Flash 10, which isn't available for Reader in Linux. However, that's not a limitation in Windows I guess, where the newest versions of Reader should be able to play videos from media9.
@JG Yes, it will do. My point is that people ask for a method which will work on (a) all platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac) and (b) with all viewers (Reader, Evince, ...).
@JosephWright How about just how to play it in the .pdf? Do you know that part? Just how to use it? I can get it to compile but it does not at all work in the .pdf
@JosephWright Great job on the UK TUG videos! Shame we couldn't see the speakers as well. That would've been fun, but I suspect not practical to implement.
I've just started using git for tracking changes in a LaTeX paper I'm writing, and for collaboration with co-authors.
However, I cannot find easily private git repositories with reasonable plans for scientific collaboration (I'm not asking about discounts, just about a different workflow, so no...
@everybody who's wondering what's going on the with "Low answer quality score [-1]" flags (10k users), here's the bug report on meta.so: meta.stackoverflow.com/q/155471/162565
Load beamer with the notheorems option and declare all theorem types "by hand" without introducing a common numbering scheme.
\documentclass[notheorems]{beamer}
\setbeamertemplate{theorem}[ams style]
\setbeamertemplate{theorems}[numbered]

@egreg Well the answer on the meta post said something about ! operator, which would be negation. So it's probably flagging exceptionally good posts. Feel honoured!
On TeX.SX we only need that kind of flagging, of course.
@JG The following 'works for me' with Reader 10.1.4 on Mac and Windows 7
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{media9}
\begin{document}
\includemedia[
width=0.6\linewidth,height=0.45\linewidth,
activate=pageopen,
flashvars={
modestbranding=1 % no YT logo in control bar
&autohide=1 % controlbar autohide
&showinfo=0 % no title and other info before start
&rel=0 % no related videos after end
},
url % Flash loaded from URL
]{}{youtube.com/v/Mdc3o7wOwNA?rel=0}
\end{document}
I get a load of security warnings on Windows, which I have to OK
Package: media9 2012/10/04 v0.15 acrobat-9/X compatible media
@JosephWright You had AMAZING advice!! I changed the player and I got it to work! Also, I realized the code had a typo in it, and I fixed it by using the media9.pdf. That .pdf was actually kind of readable!! I was impresed. Alex is an amazing writer :)
@DavidCarlisle: It wasn't me that down-voted the \hspace{-50pt} answer, I swear!! But, wasn't there a very similar answer a short time ago -- I recall it as I whined about you having such simple solutions, something that would never occur to me :-)
Also, before you ask, I am not the one removing users so as to get you to loose rep..
@PeterGrill :-) I don;t really mind being downvoted that much (it doesn't even make any difference once you are past rep cap anyway) but it vaguely irritates to get downvoted when you don't know why:-)
