@egreg

I can work very well with that. Moreover: your addition of the starred command makes the work very pleasant.
Top!

Morning all
09:57
Morning @JosephWright
@mickep How can I get simply a latest luatex binary in order to test it before it is merged to the TeXlive 2025?
@wipet What platform?
@wipet Seems one can get it from here build.contextgarden.net/#/changes
(and there seems to be built ones, but I haven't tried any of those)
10:20
@mickep I visited the build farm already but I were totally lost. I don't know the logic of this site and I didn't found the button "download" x86-64 linux binary based on glic.so.6.
10:51
@JosephWright platform: x86-64 linux.
11:09
@wipet I don't know either. I don't use it and I'm not involved. At some point I was downloading luametatex binaries from there, but I don't remember where the downloads were available.
11:23
@wipet Seems you can find download links here build.contextgarden.net/#/builders/50/builds/55. Not sure what version of libraries that were used.
@wipet build.contextgarden.net/dl/luatex seems easier...
@mickep Cool
@wipet I've only ever build from source on Linux - I was hoping you'd say macOS or Windows ;)
@JosephWright grr my tl build stopped (not in luatex I was building the full thing) :(
11:39
@DavidCarlisle :(
11:57
@wipet I normally ask that someone sent it to me by mail ;-)
12:25
@UlrikeFischer :)
12:47
How can I create a step-by-step presentation in LaTeX, where the text appears in the PDF file one paragraph at a time when pressing a specific button?
I tried beamer and \pause but I couldn't figure out why the presentation won't reach to keypresser in Texmaker.
@JaakkoSeppälä (I don't have texmaker, so this is just a general comment) Generally, the build in viewers in editors are good to check the layout and see a preview during editing. For the presentation itself, I would usually use a dedicated pdf viewer. They often have more options for full screen, slide transitions, hot keys etc...
13:08
@DavidCarlisle Good that someone tests these important symbols also for cygwin!
13:20
@mickep no I didn't dare cygwin, I'm building linux in wsl/ubuntu

1 hour later…
14:23
This is LuaTeX, Version 1.20.4 (TeX Live 2025/dev)
@mickep @wipet @JosephWright ^
14:36
@DavidCarlisle How's \Arrowvert going?

1 hour later…
16:00
@egreg give me 5 mins, just incorporating the binaries into a tl tree
@egreg Worried that your articles are now messed up? 😆
16:12
@egreg @mickep @wipet see my updated answer (@wipet if you didn't find a usable executable I could give you the one I just compiled via dropbox or something, I have just dropped it into a texlive 2024 tree for testing, It's a linux ubuntu build using windows/wsl2)
16:42
@DavidCarlisle Where exactly can I get your just compiled executable? Thank
@wipet let me put it somewhere...
@DavidCarlisle did Luigi already checked in the corrections for destination names?
16:58
@DavidCarlisle thank you, executable downloaded
17:15
@DavidCarlisle Oh, fighting to keep the tick... :)
Oh, a BachoTeX announcement!
@DavidCarlisle hm, doesn't look as if it is already in, so you can't test ;-(
17:39
@UlrikeFischer but now I have the build environment set up again, I can easily rebuild on any update, should be just git pull, make, should be...
@mickep coming from someone who's entering the egreg-world of "missing % " answers How is he to stay ahead if you start answering those?
@DavidCarlisle You got me there. I have felt dirty the whole day.
17:58
easybook updated at texlive.net
@DavidCarlisle :)
18:12
We need to up your game, the chat's easybook counter is way behind the number of releases. Soon this years version number alone will overtake the chat counter.
(your -> our)
18:55
@DavidCarlisle Have you also tried any other traditional fonts? pxfonts, txfonts?
@DavidCarlisle /there was also one or maybe two hyphen updates for me.
19:09
And a warm welcome to a new edition of AllTheDiff for easybook: In the documentation file easybook.tex line 1099 two Chinese symbols were removed.
@samcarter I'm doing my part ^^^
@UlrikeFischer That is not yet done.
@Skillmon :)
@Skillmon Very commendable! :D
@samcarter Yes, but sometimes it's more interesting to learn an approach which allows "the tikz touch" because of the various aspects of the arrow you can customize with it and make the style more distinguished. Luckily, this question just appeared, and while the solution isn't a package, I could save and understand this approach for personal use/customization whenever I need it. Until/if it's suddenly turned into a package, of course
19:28
@mickep no but I've installed it as my default lua(hb)tex in wsl so if it's broken something will show up
@Skillmon well yes I haven't updated texlive.net since before Christmas, so there were ~200 updates, but I thought people would mostly be waiting for easybook
3
@DavidCarlisle :D
@DavidCarlisle :)
@DavidCarlisle you actually skipped one easybook then. There was one on the first and one on the third of January.
