@JosephWright bonjour
@DavidCarlisle Ça va?
@DavidCarlisle See Matrix :)
@JosephWright I suppose I should set that up to do notifications as if I don't have a tab open I don't get told of super secret end to end encryped messages that people here can't see
@DavidCarlisle :)
@DavidCarlisle It's OK - at the moment I think Skype is still winning :)
09:33
dots :(
@DavidCarlisle I know :(
@JosephWright the test case that got fixed must have missed one if... code path looking now...
@JosephWright oh hang on that file works here... (works with f-expansion, let me hide that again)
@DavidCarlisle :)
@MarcelKrüger Any news on the Matrix-server-on-latex-project-org plan?
@MarcelKrüger In other news, thanks for sorting the website update mech
@JosephWright \protected
09:49
@DavidCarlisle Indeed
@JosephWright I'll see if I can fix without doubling the number of wacky \meaning tests, otherwise I should get this f-expansion version working
@DavidCarlisle I'd drop the \meaning stuff - it's more wasted effort
10:45
@JosephWright Can you add github.com/pablgonz/enumext to l3prefix?
10:58
@JosephWright @UlrikeFischer ^
@yo' @PauloCereda ^^ you are so far behind again:-)

@cfr Just a heads up on that fancyref thing. I thought about it again and decided not to add it to the package. Not because it's not interesting, but it is niche, and I also realized it is easy to do for an interested user without need for access to any internals. A proof of concept, if you'd like to play: gist.github.com/gusbrs/14bf8da2cc43a29ad4ea1dd1c9d58f66
@daleif ^^
@cfr @Rmano Btw, I did find a clean solution for that nesting business. What was bothering me about it is no more. :-) Thanks for pushing me a little that time.

@cfr Hi, if you're still struggling with actions maybe this link can help you nektosact.com

@PabloGonzálezL thanks! though I finally got the actions to work :-). although probably I'm cheating ....
right now, I suspect the packages build only on my machine and github ....
I also can't get the ctan target to build without first building doc.
@Skillmon do you use arch-nspawn at all?
@DavidCarlisle I have never insulted anyone, let alone offended.
cfr
cfr
17:12
@PabloGonzálezL definitely very useful looking, though. ultimately, I'd like to get them working on woodpecker ....
17:31
@Sebastiano I would disagree with that assesment
@cfr nope, chroot if I need it, but that's seldom.
cfr
cfr
@Skillmon me, too. well, until yesterday.
[maybe I've used arch-chroot to install? don't remember.]
how exactly does l3build do isolation when search is false? I'm assuming it uses some distribution-agnostic method ....
17:56
@cfr it sets TEXINPUTS to a path not ending in : so the standard places are not searched unless you set the search variable to true
    os_setenv .. " TEXINPUTS=." .. localtexmf()
      .. (checksearch and os_pathsep or "")
@cfr ^
18:09
@cfr most likely. chroot is what's used in most tutorials, afaik.

18:21
@DavidCarlisle thanks. the TEX variable syntax always confuses me. I can never remember what the various modifiers do.
@Skillmon I think they probably use arch-chroot if they're even moderately recent. I just don't remember when that came along.
@Sebastiano I'd third @DavidCarlisle and @UlrikeFischer, I'm afraid.
19:07
@yo' Would you like to post your statistics about the tabularray speed from chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/66393444#66393444 as an answer to tex.stackexchange.com/q/730023/36296 ?
(I don't want to deter people from using tabularray, so I didn't mention the main disadvantage of tabularray in the comment to the question: not being able to use colortblr and thus enjoy the design of the doc :) )

2 hours later…
21:17
@PabloGonzálezL you have a question:-)
@DavidCarlisle Oh, some latexers pick up quickly.
21:39
will @PabloGonzálezL be able to beat @egreg to an badge?
22:11
I want to process the contents of the figure environment. Anybody have a reference as to why the spaces are gobbled in this example?
\documentclass{article}

\ExplSyntaxOn

\cs_set_eq:NN \oldfigure \figure
\cs_set_eq:NN \endoldfigure \endfigure
\tl_new:N \l_env_body_text
\RenewDocumentEnvironment{figure}{ O{htbp} +b }{
  \tl_set:Nn \l_env_body_text { #2 }
  \begin{oldfigure}[#1]
    \tl_use:N \l_env_body_text
  \end{oldfigure}
}

\ExplSyntaxOff

\begin{document}

\begin{figure}[htb]
  This is a figure.
  \caption[ab c]{A BC}
\end{figure}

\end{document}
22:23
If there's isn't something on the site explaining this clearly, I can ask there.
@Werner you are missing the last argument of \ReNewDocumentEnvironment and so eat the \ExplSyntaxOff away.
@UlrikeFischer ...no freakin' way.
What a dingus I am I am.
Thanks!
23:01
@UlrikeFischer @DavidCarlisle Oh-ho, I think I might have found a possible answer for that endnotes riddle of the other day (from tex.stackexchange.com/q/729681/105447). It seems you can print your notes before the first one:
\documentclass{article}

\usepackage{endnotes}

\begin{document}

\theendnotes

\section{Section 1}

\endnote{1}\par
\endnote{2}\par
\endnote{3}

\end{document}
This actually works. I had never considered using it like that. Maybe that's what Jürgen had in mind. Don't know...
