@yo' I've certainly had it measured. I don't remember if they were weighing them. I've also had them try to take it off me, but when I started asking if they'd be responsible for my laptop, they gave up. (We were on the tarmac at this point.) That had nothing to do with size or weight, though. Only where you were in the queue to board.
@cfr Fubá is great, thanks! Naughty, lazy and cuddly -- quite the package! He's 20 but behaves like a kitten! Ciça has passed away a couple of years ago. She was 17.
@PauloCereda Impressive! The Dante mailing list discusses since a week how difficult it is to get it in Germany - maybe we all should move to such a civilised country like yours :)
@PauloCereda I just tackled a very difficult geometrical problem: how to pack ducks in a suitcase without taking up too much space :) I wonder if any mathematicians already solved this problem theoretically

Bonn weather report: The current heat wave (around 34 Celsius) is supposed to break in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. From then on a week of moderate temperatures (23/24 Celsius) is predicted. The weather will be variable, the occasional shower possible. Some soothsayers see the greatest likelihood on Saturday, others on Sunday. No sweaters needed - if you are not from Brazil. We‘ll keep you informed about the latest developments. The start of play on the third day of the Ashes Test is delayed because of rain at Headingley.
@mickep If you booked a Flex Ticket, you can use this with any IC/EC train (that is not with ICE, but with any other DB or regional train) on the same day anyways
@JasperHabicht Thanks. Yes, but I probably did not book a flex ticket. But if they cancel the train I just assume I can use it. Otherwise they would have re-paid at least, I guess.
@mickep You can also nicely ask the DB staff on an ICE train whether they accept to transport you and just pretend that you don't understand anything. Then, they maybe also just let you choose the ICE train =)
@TeXnician I did yesterday, from Hamburg to Copenhagen (maybe joint project with DSB). Over 1 hour delay. Very warm. Packed. But well, I have Urlaub, so... :)
@JasperHabicht I did not find any better ICE connection, so I have booked some seat on a route where I have to change train two times. We'll see if we meet at TUG :)

@JasperHabicht You misspelled it: not “no, wifi” but rather “no wifi”, especially in regional trains ;)
@mickep Your original EC actually is going to depart regularly on all TUG days (6:45 from Hamburg Hbf). It just does not go to Bonn Hbf but Bonn-Beuel. You can take a bus from there.
@mickep So, I seems this is due to construction works in/around Cologne Main Station and more or less all trains that go to Bonn via Cologne are not calling at Cologne (Köln) Hbf and Bonn Hbf, but at Cologne Tradefair/Deutz (Köln Messe/Deutz) and Bonn-Beuel instead.
@mickep If you got City-Plus on your ticket, you should be able to just use the local tram/bus in Bonn for free (on this day as extension to your train ride, so to say)
@mickep The same is valid in the city of departure then, so if you need to use ÖPNV (tram/subway/bus) to get to the station, you can use the train ticket if it has this
@mickep Normally, regardless whether you booked Flex or Spar, if the distance of your travel by train is more than 100 km, it is automatically booked to your ticket
@mickep Then tell the bus driver that you go to "Hauptbahnhof". That is Tarif 1b and costs imho 3.20€. The alternative is to get an app which supports eezy-ticket (eezy.nrw/de/hilfe/so-funktioniert-eezy-nrw). There you check in when you board and check out when you quick and it calculates the price by distance. Typically cheaper (but needs online connection and you naturally must register first).
@barbarabeeton Oh don't worry, I like them, but I would never pet a wild one. We have a few living in our house (behind some wooden casing on the rear end of the house -- earlier this year we even found a baby one which apparently fell and tried to rescue it, but it was already too late for it).
