12:02 AM
@egreg -- This afternoon we attended a most delightful concert, showcasing the "new music" of the early 1600s, in the "stylus fantasticus". Two violins, a viola da gamba (alternating with a violone which was taller than the musician playing it), and a theorbo. Quite a modern theorbo -- it had a hinge just above the pegs for tuning the fretted strings, allowing it to be more easily packed for traveling. I suspect you might have enjoyed the event.

6:55 AM
@barbarabeeton I thought it had already gone: I was expecting to submit for the next one ;)

1 hour later…
8:04 AM
@barbarabeeton I suspect it too! :-)

8:30 AM
@barbarabeeton I'm quite pleased it's going in: I'm already working on the next article, so there will be a good spread
@u
@UlrikeFischer While I wait on review for the case stuff, I am reminded I suggested \color_model_register:... - I'll see if I can come up with something this week

@JosephWright I hadn't really the time to look at it, I'm tagging headings and try to decide if it breaks less classes if one redefine \chapter or \@chapter or ....

@UlrikeFischer In the end we are going to have to bite the bullet and redefine the document commands I suspect
@UlrikeFischer All understood: I'll hopefully have a fully-working proposal for you to try out :)

@JosephWright currently I think that this is better, also because it gives classes a template how to define their own commands.

@UlrikeFischer Yes, totally agree
@UlrikeFischer We'll have the same with e.g. \caption, where the situation is perhaps clearer (its' vital to alter the document command), so I think we should be consistent and realistic: these are not trivial changes

8:46 AM
@JosephWright it also has the benefit that one can start to use the new keyval argument. I only didn't do it yet as it would require latex-dev, but more importantly because I didn't know how to name the key family ;-).

2 hours later…
11:02 AM
DAVID TENNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@PauloCereda I KNOWWWWWWWWW

@JosephWright My fav doctor! :)

11:50 AM
@PauloCereda The ducks are dressed up appropriately raw.githubusercontent.com/samcarter/tikzducks/main/duckpond/…

@samcarter ooh

yo'
@PauloCereda oh I thought it's a name for the new Britith PM...

@yo' oopsie :)

12:11 PM
@PauloCereda Doctor who?

@mickep (wh)ooh

1 hour later…
1:25 PM
@PauloCereda for PM? Good plan.

@DavidCarlisle You just got another one, didn't you? :P

@mickep Given their average duration, one needs to start the search for the next one ASAP

@samcarter Oh, David could be the next.

We went to a restaurant we've not been to before (was very good actually) I did not choose this item even though I felt the combined pressure of @CarLaTeX and @PauloCereda urging me to do so

@mickep First ruling: everybody gets a crispy duck dinner on Sunday?

1:33 PM

@samcarter the candidate is ready ^^

@UlrikeFischer yeah! A good outlook for the future :)

@samcarter first image not clear enough, not just any duck, duck pizza

@DavidCarlisle oh no :)

@JosephWright -- We'll be happy to see your next, but it won't go into this issue. That's closed now.

2:52 PM
@barbarabeeton Ideal for me :)

1 hour later…

Aug 1 at 18:03, by David Carlisle
@UlrikeFischer question: " ... miktex...", answer: "update in user and admin mode"
@UlrikeFischer ^

@DavidCarlisle :)
@DavidCarlisle We are getting the merges in ... :)

@JosephWright yep, saw it :)

@Skillmon Should make your life a bit easier

@DavidCarlisle ;-)

4:28 PM
@JosephWright still 6 open PR...

@DavidCarlisle Only one is expected to go in for the next release I think

4:56 PM
@DavidCarlisle oh no! However, the pizzas in the photo seem good

@CarLaTeX I had chicken ham and leek pie, which was very good, sadly not duck or pizza though

@DavidCarlisle "ooh, yes" because no duck was harmed?
3

5:12 PM
@Skillmon the duck I fear was already marinating in hoisin sauce whether or not I ordered pizza
@JosephWright yes although we should probably close or relabel the others, strikes again

5:27 PM
@DavidCarlisle True

6:21 PM
@DavidCarlisle oh no

@DavidCarlisle You're not mean

@CarLaTeX I know

7:16 PM
@DavidCarlisle I've closed one, merged one

Would you guys say getting an active colon in key=val input is more likely than getting one of category letter?

@Skillmon yes, unless you are in expl3 land

@DavidCarlisle exactly, and I guess expl3 land is rather unlikely for key=val input...

@Skillmon nous aimons les côlon actifs

@DavidCarlisle ooh no! I don't speak Parisian.

7:23 PM
@Skillmon Defo
@Skillmon On my list of to dos: get actives properly sorted so we don't have this issue at document level
I am serious: with things like UTF-8 everywhere, we are sorting exactly that sort of thing

@JosephWright active punctuation by spring '23 ?

@DavidCarlisle Sounds not-unreasonable to me
@DavidCarlisle Probably another one that needs discussion with Javier

@JosephWright without $ it's probably relatively safe $ has more issues...

@DavidCarlisle Yes, agreed: one for the team list? With Javier explicitly CC'd?

7:41 PM
@JosephWright Oh no, so much re-optimisation of code optimised for the most likely category code :P But defo good plan :)

@JosephWright yes

@DavidCarlisle ACTION: Joseph?

@JosephWright yes so you get the blame if it all goes wrong (I'm reading secret documents:-)

8:38 PM
@DavidCarlisle Dodos love secrets.

8:58 PM
@mickep wait, who's a dodo now? And don't they love melons?

@Skillmon All contexters are dodos.

@mickep and you have three melons?

9:16 PM
@Skillmon No melons here. :(

@mickep bought one today, so 1:0 for me :P

@Skillmon Oh, this is not fair. :)

@mickep well, 8 other people live in the house who might eat from that melon, so 1/9:0 for me.

@Skillmon Oh, how fair.

@mickep even worse: worst case it's a draw and I don't get any from that melon.
