@barbarabeeton In my limited experience, university bureaucrats are unpleasant, arrogant, and dishonest creatures who will never admit a mistake. Excuse the butting in.

@UlrikeFischer I'm working on it: may take a little while. I want to build some 'almost plain TeX' examples (LaTeX but no color package, etc.)
@JosephWright sounds like a sensible plan. This color stuff needs a good grounding. I'm trying to replace the few bitset uses I have by some simple temporary fallback ...
11:36
@UlrikeFischer I'm taking an example using pdfcolfoot in pdfTeX, 'removing' the packages but keeping it working, then want to see if I can pull the same off with XeTeX using the new stack. I've got to go out shortly, so it might take a couple of days
@UlrikeFischer Also a good plan: I guess we sort colour stacks then look hard at a bitset replacement
@samcarter_preparing_for_xmas Sorry for the holdup with beamer: I've tracked down the issue
@samcarter_preparing_for_xmas Issue with l3build and directories containing a -: I'll have to track that down

@DavidCarlisle Did you sent an invitation for the green stone club yet? I didn't see one.
19:05
@UlrikeFischer no do you want one? I was hoping to look at that this weekend but haven't had much time, possibly this evening.
@DavidCarlisle well you asked and I said yes ;-) (but I have no idea if I can help here ...)
@UlrikeFischer done:-)
19:39
@DavidCarlisle ;-).

@StefanKottwitz @JosephWright Thank you so much to the moderators for understanding the flags that I put....and all the best.
Good evening to all users....I hope you are all doing well.

@yo' @CarLaTeX Interesting. I didn't realize they were integrated. Do they give any information about missing fields? (I vaguely looked into using both a long time ago, but it seemed that there are constant export issues for use with bibtex, but maybe these have been fixed.)
20:41
@AlanMunn I don't know, I don't use them, I only knew there was this opinion

@AlanMunn well, not sure really. I only use them for testing tbh...

@UlrikeFischer Thus far: I've cut pdfcol and pdfcolfoot down to 15 lines :) (@DavidCarlisle)
@JosephWright but do they work? :-)
@JosephWright how many catcode test lines did you remove?

@Sebastiano For me, 9 downvotes to an explanation why I deleted a bad quality 4 times flagged answer that was recommending editing a journal class file for customizing, were enough to signal that users want to keep bad/misleading answers. Sorry if I dismissed flags regarding bad quality answers when they were answers formally.
Hello all.
@Sebastiano I usually add an explanation and thanks when I work on flags.
@Sebastiano I take the upvotes on that meta answer though as a motivation, even if bad advice is not deleted, to ensure that it's clearly commented on by someone with a recommendation if meaningful.
