@JouleV Yes, then you will also (^^^) have the comma at the right position. ;-)

@marmot If you gain 882290 points, you won't have the correct comma anymore

@JouleV Yes. But there is no danger of that happening.

@marmot But there will, in the near future, for sure

3:53 AM
@JouleV Probably not. Will go hibernate now... ;-)

@marmot It will, like this
@marmot Have a good hibernation :))

3 hours later…
7:11 AM
Is anyone using the PGF/TikZ unofficial TeX Live repository already?

8:02 AM
@DavidCarlisle oh no

8:59 AM
@HenriMenke sorry, I'm using the git version and added it as an auxtree.

9:13 AM
@UlrikeFischer, @DavidCarlisle I know understand now hypdvips breaks links. I've almost got something working, but I need to start from the working code and cut down: debugging PostScript is pretty tricky
@DavidCarlisle, @UlrikeFischer Probably a checkin by the end of the day

@JosephWright aha. Do non-argument grabbing links really don't work with dvips? I have been pondering about the contentsline stuff and hooks in general and wonder how something like \hookatstart some content \hookatend could turn the content in a link.

@JosephWright do you have an interactive gs installed, lets you print the stack (stack command or dup =) used to find that invaluable....

@UlrikeFischer It all looks good to me thus-far
@UlrikeFischer I've not looked at TOC stuff, but really grabbing everything seems to be the only way
@UlrikeFischer You need to know the size of the link, at least as a starting point, even if you are using the breaking code. So you have to box something up ...
@DavidCarlisle Like I said, I've taken hypdivps, which works, and am slowly editing in a test document to get it down to the minimum and into expl3. I think now I understand how it works, I need only a few hours to do that

@JosephWright you've an hour and a half before the call: plenty of time:-)

9:28 AM
@UlrikeFischer I have a feeling we might want to make the driver type e.g. link, dest and possibly have a generic one. That then makes it a bit easier to include eg. /Subtype/Link without being repetitive

9:52 AM
15 Apr 2019
^^ ooh @JosephWright

@JosephWright do you need to know the width or the height/depth of the link (or both)?

@DavidCarlisle @JosephWright ^^

10:08 AM
@PauloCereda good to see you are keeping up to date with important British news.

@DavidCarlisle ooh

11:08 AM
@DavidCarlisle Btw, you're still a EU citizen!

11:19 AM
@CarLaTeX hopefully next year as well :-)

@DavidCarlisle I think there is the possibility :)

@DavidCarlisle ooh

12:06 PM
@FaheemMitha Hope you are fine. Got your message. I'll talk to you later,

12:51 PM
I tried to push footnotes at the end of document by enotez, pagenote and endnotes without success. I tried with following
\let\footnote\endnote
\let\footnote=\endnote

Could a 10k+ user please let me know if this answer was deleted by the author, or by a mod? It seems they may be deleting and undeleting in order to automatically clear flags.

@gparyani by owner

@DavidCarlisle Thanks.

1:10 PM
@PrabhjotSingh Ok.

1:33 PM
@PrabhjotSingh \usepackage{endnotes}\let\footnote\endnote usually works.

At the end of document, I should use \theendnotes?

@PrabhjotSingh Yes.

\c@subsubsection=\count82
\c@paragraph=\count83
\c@subparagraph=\count84
\c@figure=\count85

@egreg I sent you log file.
endnotes.sty is not missing,in fact. `locate 'endnotes.sty' `
`/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/lwarp/lwarp-endnotes.sty`

@PrabhjotSingh that is not endotes.sty that is endotes customisation for the lwarp tex to html convertor

@PrabhjotSingh You need to install texlive-latex-extra on Debian and its derivatives.

1:44 PM
@DavidCarlisle How can I get endnotes.sty?

@PrabhjotSingh apt-get install texlive-latex-extra

That worked. @FaheemMitha

Why is revtex so evil? It breaks afterpage. How is one supposed to trick its horrible float mechanics if one can't use afterpage?

@DavidCarlisle and @egreg for your help.

@Skillmon because I ran out of time and money and Art O. took it over:-)

1:48 PM
@PrabhjotSingh /jokingly apt-get remove texlive then install vanilla TeXLive
@DavidCarlisle you don't maintain afterpage anymore?

@FaheemMitha I was wondering which debian package it was in
@Skillmon I was talking about revtex

Jul 21 '17 at 14:00, by David Carlisle
@daleif anything good or bad that happens after you use \afterpage is not my fault:-)

@DavidCarlisle you did create this mess?

@DavidCarlisle dlocate works. Or dpkg -S. I take it you're not a regular Debian user.
Of course, you need to have dlocate installed.
@Skillmon Don't tell him to do that. He might actually do it.

@FaheemMitha when I had a linux box at home I was, but mostly we are fedora around here, and this machine is cygwin/windows

1:49 PM
@UlrikeFischer the problem is not really afterpage, the problem is that everything you pass to \afterpage is flushed to the end of the document.

@DavidCarlisle Ah.

@FaheemMitha I was hoping that "/jokingly" would be enough of a warning.

@Skillmon One would hope so.

@DavidCarlisle ooh Fedora

@Skillmon Vanilla is better?

1:57 PM
@PrabhjotSingh imho, it is easier to maintain and way more recent. The Debian version is usually years behind (don't know on which version it currently is -- I'm no Debian or Debian derived distro user).

@Skillmon I use Fedora 29. But that machine is gone for repair.

@Skillmon I think that depends a bit which update channel you are on for debian itself, the stable releases are of course older but the unstable ones can be ahead of vanilla as Norbert does both and the debian ones are not tied to the texlive annual release

@DavidCarlisle ok, didn't consider unstable...
@DavidCarlisle any idea how I can force a float at full width at the top of the following page in revtex4-2?

@Skillmon no:-) (I try to avoid looking at revtex)
\onepage\twopage[ a float] two column stuff ?

@DavidCarlisle so did I, but unfortunately there is a user on Overleaf who uses it. I placed the float manually quite reasonable, but the user changed the position and messed up tremendously. Let's just say, I'm not happy right now, thanks to revtex.
@DavidCarlisle ??

2:07 PM
One more thing. xelatex gives double quotes but pdflatex doesn't. Why?
Off to home now.

@DavidCarlisle Oh, it uses atbegshi, I can hook into that.

1 hour later…
3:31 PM
@Skillmon The ones in stable can end up being quite old. Like 2 years old. But most of the time TeX Live is not hard to backport. Except for pesky things like biber.
And people do use testing, which is generally reasonably current except during the freeze.
Personally I plan to continue using those packages as long as they are being produced.
Which isn't exactly a given. It's not clear who would pick it up if Norbert dropped it.

@FaheemMitha you could do that or... install vanilla. :)

@PauloCereda Yes, I'm aware that's an option.
I like using Debian packages. They do all the work for me.
Does vanilla usually get installed as root or user?

@FaheemMitha you can pick up your poison. :) I usually go system-wide.

@PauloCereda I see. Yes, Debian packages just feel... safer.

@Skillmon: today in the morning I went jogging and saw a bunny!

3:43 PM
@FaheemMitha all of my packages wouldn't be included...
@PauloCereda was it tasty?

@Skillmon oh no

@Skillmon Hmm? Why not?

@Skillmon that was very carlislean of you. :)

@PauloCereda Did it see you too?

@FaheemMitha apparently yes. :)

3:44 PM
@FaheemMitha because I published the first one in end of September 2017.
@FaheemMitha My first ever packages are older, but those aren't published to CTAN and hence not included in TeXLive or MikTeX

@Skillmon Presumably they will be published in TeX Live eventually.
The Debian package really isn't wildly out of date, like lots of people seem to think. Norbert sometimes packages the development version too. Probably not a great idea, and I'm not sure why he does it. Perhaps he gets bored.

@FaheemMitha nope. Those are templates for the institute I wrote my bachelor's thesis at. There are already enough bad templates around, no need to publish mine for the entirety of TeXLive
@FaheemMitha though I might eventually publish packages containing code of these... But first I have to get things sorted with hacking longtable, and that requires me to actually tackle that, which I evade since a full year or so.

@DavidCarlisle Yeah .. I've figured it out. Thanks!

@PauloCereda you know that I like the taste of rabbits and ducks.

@Skillmon :)

3:49 PM
@Skillmon I hear they are tasty.

@FaheemMitha they are. Rabbit with pepper cream sauce is great.

@Skillmon Sounds yummy. Not sure what pepper cream sauce is, though.

@FaheemMitha it's delicious, isn't it obvious?

@Skillmon ooh Rabbitmitcayennesaucethingy

@Skillmon Not haven't tasted it, it isn't obvious.

3:51 PM
@FaheemMitha it's just a sauce made from cream and loads of pepper.

@Skillmon Yes, I see.

@FaheemMitha but if I say "Rabbit with pepper cream sauce is great", then it's obvious that pepper cream sauce is delicious.

@Skillmon Ok.

@FaheemMitha and the pepper isn't ground pepper but the whole corns.

@Skillmon Sounds tricky. How about people with bronchial issues etc.?

3:55 PM
@FaheemMitha in Germany we're healthy :) just kidding. Never thought of it. But the pepper is cooked in the cream, just a bit spicy, and you don't have to eat the corns, the sauce taste great without them.

@Skillmon I see.

@FaheemMitha I know many people who leave them out. Personally I always eat them, I just really like the taste.

@Skillmon I tolerate pepper poorly myself. Which is why I mentioned it. It makes me cough.
Not really sure what to make of this...

@FaheemMitha even if cooked and in the meal? That's very unfortunate, pepper is like in 130% of the German dishes (except for sweet dishes).

@Skillmon I forget, but probably yes.

4:04 PM
@FaheemMitha epoch of the lunatics...

@Skillmon And why is pepper so popular? I mean, it's ok, but I don't particularly feel that it's something that is missing from my life.
Then again, I feel the same way about alcohol...

@FaheemMitha I understand if one doesn't drink alcohol (though I like the taste of beer), but pepper tastes great, and almost every dish tastes better with pepper, imho :) Can't really tell why it is so popular, it just is and I never questioned it. Gives your meal a more round taste. Adding bitter compounds to your meal, being slightly hot... Just a good mixture of attributes.

4:23 PM
@Skillmon -- You're referring to "ordinary" black or white (or maybe pink) peppercorns, not "hot" peppers. There's a big difference! I can't cope with the hot variety -- they give me "pizza effect". And once when I tried to make chili con carne using pasilla chili that I had recently acquired on a road trip from the east to west coast, it rusted the inside of a cast iron dutch oven i was cooking it in. Beware!

@Skillmon Maybe I'll try it sometime. Perhaps if/when I visit Germany.
And I don't think I've met a great variety of peppercorns in my life. Mostly just the ordinary black variety.

@barbarabeeton yes, pepper corn, not chilli pepper.
@barbarabeeton sorry if I was ambiguous.

@Skillmon -- The type of pepper was obvious to me, but my family was German. I don't think I even met a chili pepper (or even Hungarian paprika, which is mildly spicy and very good) until I was in college.

@barbarabeeton Beeton doesn't sound too German, though :)

@Skillmon -- That's my husband, whose ancestors were Swedish and Scots. Does "Neuhaus" sound more likely?

4:35 PM
@barbarabeeton yes, sounds more like my neighbours (not direct neighbours, but a bit down the hill there was a family with this name in my childhoods neighbourhood).

5:04 PM
@barbarabeeton: trivia: do you know how red pepper is called in Brazil?

@PauloCereda -- Well, there's "pimiento", but I'm not sure.

@barbarabeeton That's Spanish, I guess. :) Pepper is pimenta, but red pepper is popularly called as dedo-de-moça (literally lady's finger)

@PauloCereda -- Oh, my! That's a rather heated description!

@barbarabeeton :)

yo'
5:24 PM
@barbarabeeton :)

NOTRE DAME ON FIRE
/sob

@PauloCereda OMG

6:10 PM
Something wacky is coming soon!

@barbarabeeton my husband asks me to tell you "Ein Mönchengladbacher Fußballer heißt Neuhaus!"

6:39 PM
@UlrikeFischer -- Aha! Very interesting! (Grandpa Neuhaus came from somewhere near Leipzig.) What about Schlag? Or Ruehl? (Those were my mother's father and mother, respectively.) Grossmom Schlag's family lived in a suburb of Frankfurt, and I believe there may still be some distant relatives in that area. (One of my nephews is working on the genealogy.)

@barbarabeeton ^^^^ @UlrikeFischer

@marmot -- Interesting. Thanks. When Grandpa Neuhaus emigrated to the U.S., his brother emigrated east. He became a rather well-known piano teacher, and some eminent Russian pianists were taught by his son, "G. Neigaus" (there's no "h" in Russian), also a piano teacher.

@barbarabeeton I see. No chocolate, then? ;-)
Neuhaus is a notable Belgian chocolatier which manufactures and sells luxury chocolates, chocolate truffles, biscuits and ice cream. The company was founded in 1857 by Jean Neuhaus, a Swiss immigrant, who opened the first store in the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert in central Brussels. In 1912, his grandson, Jean Neuhaus II, invented the chocolate praline, a decadent chocolate cream ganache center inside a chocolate shell, the original filled chocolate.Today, Neuhaus has over 1,500 selling points in 50 countries. All Neuhaus products are still made in Vlezenbeek, near Brussels, and are exported...

OOH CHOCOLATE

@PauloCereda More than 10 secs. Are you getting old? ;-)

6:53 PM
A user created the tag . Do you think we need this in addition to the tag? Basically it's just a library and we do not create one tag per tikz library either…

@marmot -- No, no chocolate. They're Belgian. Good chocolate, although I like Callebaut better.

@TeXnician Well, there is tikz-graphdrawing and so on, so there are examples of a tag for a tikz library.

@marmot There is even which mentions that it should be used for the graphdrawing library as well ;)

@marmot I was looking for my CAPS

@barbarabeeton I don't know, I have spent too much time in Switzerland to be able to appreciate Belgium's chocolates, and too much time in upper Bavaria to be able to value their beers. ;-)

6:56 PM
@marmot Well, actually there are quite a few examples for tikz libraries even without the tikz prefix ( for example). But actually I don't think this tag does add anything to the combination of the tags tcolrobox and posters.

@TeXnician This might well be, i.e. I do not disagree with you, just want to say that the argument "There are also no tags for single tikz libraries" may not convince everyone....

@marmot That's a good point :)

ooh tags

@PauloCereda Montag, Dienstag etc. Today is Montag.

@marmot ooh das ist sehr komplicated

7:04 PM
@PauloCereda kompliziert

Montag isn't my tag in French? :)

@PauloCereda I do not like Mondays, so the French can have it. ;-)

@marmot ooh Boomtown rats
Hold on, reference incoming...
@AlanMunn ^^ :)

@PauloCereda They can also have the video.

@marmot oh

7:40 PM
@PauloCereda Especially not today: Tax Day. :(
@PauloCereda And thanks to new laws I have to pay more, but it takes me much less time to do them. But it's not a fair trade.

8:02 PM
@AlanMunn oh
@AlanMunn oh
