I prepared a Gentoo Linux package for our users to install the latest Jabref from the source.
this was important after they released version 4.0 which was absolutely unusable
and many needed jabref for their work
the latest version from source was sometimes usable, but even after two years it is not good for productive usage. So I will continue to support the packages on Gentoo, but we have to mark them as experimental.
@JonasStein The question as it stands isn't really clear. I think that Stefan's suggestion is the only reasonable one to make it on topic, i.e. find out if there is some part of the PDF standard that provides search optimization data and ask how it could be implemented in LaTeX. But as it stands, you're asking for something that you don't even know if it will do what you want.
Crisis averted, seemed to be a really strange sideeffect of a badly placed label. No idea why that caused align to misalign eq numbers in beamer. Moving the label to the beginning of the row seems to solve the issue.
@mickep The OP spotted that the matrices were also misaligned not just the eq nums. Then the \label was the obvious candidate. Interesting that it does not happen in article class.
@DavidCarlisle Don't know. But it happens also in article when you add a \label behind the bmatrix: the bmatrix shifts a bit to the right. The difference to beamer is that there the number is shifted too -- but only if one use the beamer definition of \label.

@Vrouvrou you should probably ask the Scientific Workplace user that made the doc, to save this as portable LaTeX to begin with. All of the stuff inside the \special is not really known to LaTeX. Plus that tcilatex line should disappear (IIRK) when the doc is saved as portable LaTeX.
@Vrouvrou ask for a latex file. (scientific word is a non-free word processor system that uses tex internally but by default its files can only be used by the system. But it can export the document to standard latex markup so any latex user can use it. It is that version that you need
@Vrouvrou yes but that tex file is using \special that only work with the tdci dvi driver that you can not get for free, you want a version that works with pdflatex, which it can make.

@daleif -- i think that sometimes the tcilatex doesn't disappear. sad. it can cause some nasty problems for a publisher, but when i've forwarded diagnosis of a tractable problem to mackichan, they have been good about addressing it. however, definitely, 'portable latex" is essential.
@barbarabeeton essential yes, but even then I saw some terrible things output from that piece of software (I had no idea where the mess came from, but now I recognize it by the TCIDATA lines)
@yo' -- the nastiest thing i ever encountered was the code for "two-size" operators, which, when used in an index term, inserted a % into the .idx (and thus .ind) file, trashing everything. fortunately, that was easy to diagnose, and was "corrected" (or at least a harmless workaround installed) promptly.
@barbarabeeton I think I've seen that as well, luckily we don't have that many SWP users any more. Interestingly, with the last one, we are working on converting math from SWP, through lualatex to InDesign. It is not too bad.
@daleif -- i actually have no objection to %, properly used. but when it's in a definition, that control sequence should never be expanded when it goes into an index term.

@samcarter And would the corresponding phrase in German be somewhat negative? In English this is not really a neutral phrase at all, and I could add a comment to that effect, but don't want to make assumptions if it's just a translation error.
@AlanMunn I guess it was translated from something like "fälschlicherweise beschuldigt". This can carry two different connotations (or both at the same time). One is in defence "No, I did nothing wrong. The question I asked is not a duplicate", the other is to blame that whoever suggested the duplicate did something wrong in doing so. Without further context it is hard to tell which is the intended meaning.
@Vrouvrou Your new question will not be received very well, I'm afraid. If you have some basic TikZ code that you can show in a minimal document, that will go a long way to counter the comments that "just show me the code" type questions are not how the site is supposed to work.

Hello all! Is there a way to list all commands available in a latex document? I have some newcommands defined in a second file that I was given, and I would like to be able to look only at the names of the newcommands defined in it.
@samcarter I think that the German word falsch' is not perceived as strong an expression as the English word false'. It has more the meaning of incorrect' or so. Perhaps the OP meant to write something like incorrectly classified as a duplicate' or so.
The Venice tourism site lists a bunch of rules. Okay, no swimming in the canals, and littering is also not allowed (duh?). But there's something baffling to me here:

@samcarter In English it's pretty hard for 'accuse' and related words not to have a strong negative connotation. For example you it would be very weird to say "John was accused of being a good cook" but you could say (if you were certain members of this room...) "John was accused of having made a pineapple pizza". Combined with 'false' it makes for a pretty strong "blame for something wrong" meaning.
@marmot That might be true. 'false' isn't inherently negative, but it certainly is stronger than 'wrong' (in the relevant meaning) or 'incorrect'.
@yo' Of course as with almost every 'odd' sounding sentence, you just need enough context to make it sound completely natural. For example if the murderer poisoned the victim with a brilliantly made bearnaise sauce, he might easily be accused of being a good cook. :)
@AlanMunn there's a game (how do you call a board game with no board nor cards?) called "Palermo city" and its sibling called "Mrakošlap" where you can accuse any player of anything (literally anything), and good rhetorics can win you something; this could be useful there :)
@AlanMunn exactly. In the simpler version, three "gangsters" shoot one "citizen" each night, and the city as a whole votes and hangs one "accused" a day. The party that survives (gangsters/citizens) win. Yes, when you are accused, you can defend.
Usually you're accused because someone heard you moving in your place during the "night" (you shoot by pointing, there's a gamemaster to register your shooting and organize the game)
@AlanMunn various dictionaries and also google translates "bezichtigen" with "accuse". "bezichtigen" is a rather harmless version of accuse, more like "wrongly stated".
In the more complicated game, there's a lot of "characters", each player gets 4 or 5 depending on the number of players. And there you play on your own, though there still are "gangsters" who have to cooperate. But it's not uncommon for a gangster to vote to hang another gangster as less people means simpler cooperation :-)

@yo' Before you start your translation, maybe first check if there isn't already an English version out there. I encountered the Palermo game already in German and Italian (which is funny if most participants do not speak Italian - me included :).
@samcarter The Palermo game is widespread, but the modification I believe originates AFAIK at the MathPhys Faculty in Prague.

@samcarter the only problem is that there're quite some combinatorics/mechanics in the game that the gamemaster has to grasp. (Fortunately, only the gamemaster, for the players, understanding of them means just a slight benefit.)
@samcarter if I had some old logs of the games, I would show you, but I haven't played it for a while. The point is that there are mages who build tunnels for the bullets, but also mirrors that reflect bullets, and last but not least, there's a spitter, and if you are spit on, you're protected from being hit, but only once (and this is where the game mechanics get complicated)
@yo' Other examples: My car has a Ford engine (in it). vs. There is a Ford engine in my car. And lots of languages (Slavic I think?) express with a be + dative things that other language express with 'have'. But I don't think there are other more contentful verbs that work that way.
@AlanMunn The problem is that your car has its one engine. Here, we have a constructive proof that A exists, but that's it. And actually, the "As" are infinitely many (no surprise for us)
@samcarter but the imagination works; you sit in a circle, usually on the ground, eyes closed, and the GM says "Spitter 1 wakes up and points out who he spits on."
@samcarter exactly. And also, the GM mentions how many bullets were shot each night (helps count living gangsters and so on), so imagine there's one bullet shot, but 4 or 5 people killed :-)
