8:00 PM
@DavidCarlisle Do you know where I could find documentation for all of aligned's options?

@user76284 texdoc amsmath
@ChristianHupfer thanks, you too. ALthough I have allergies so...

Thanks! I appreciate it

@user76284 it's a \\ pleasure
gtg read some hobbit now, later pals

@Moriambar Don't miss the Arken stone ;-)
It's quite natural that Peter Jackson made three movies from a rather voluminous book like 'Lord of the Rings' but to squeeze out three almost even longer movies from a rather short book is a miracle ;-)

8:34 PM
@ChristianHupfer Well you could make 6 or more films from LoTR; Three for the Hobbit are quite a bit too much I think. Nevertheless I'm reading it for the first time in English and for the first time in its first edition!
@DavidCarlisle @barbarabeeton vvv (more than 100 ` \\ ``)

Q: How to write a code to find the Pythagorean Triples

minthao_2011I want to write a code to make a table contains Pythagorean Triples (see picture) automatically. That is mean from the formulas $a^2 + b^2 = c^2$ , we can get the Pythagorean Triples I used Mathematica, convert to TeX, I get the code of Mathematica is \left( \begin{array}{ccc} 3 & 4 & 5 \\...

@Moriambar Not in my answer, thanks to expl3. :-D

@egreg I trust you on that one, but the question had a seemingly infinite amount of backslashes
@egreg wait are you saying that expl3 would've solved the double backslash issue?

8:56 PM
sep 2013 is cleared
I will stop at aug, when ~250 will be processed.
The other months are *thicker*

@Moriambar No, that I could build a table without using \\

@egreg nice, really nice. I'm checking on that one later

@Moriambar --- Are you sure you have the first edition of The Hobbit? These are quite rare I think.

@IanThompson last year they reprinted it, with the same binding, drawing, etc. it's a 1:1 copy of the first edition.
anyway this had around 1.7e9 double backslashes vvv

Q: Set the axis range according to the data range, that is, no scales for axis

user22986I use the matlab2tikz package to creat surface in LaTex editor, but it display ugly unlike the Fig. created in the Matlab. Can anyone help me out? Is there a way of adjusting the x,y and z axis ranges with different ratios? Thanks in advance! Here is my MWE: \documentclass[border=5mm]{standalon...

@IanThompson (the real first edition is quite rare but I almost acquired it a couple of years ago)

9:13 PM
@Moriambar --- Right. You can buy one here! ebay.com/itm/…

@DavidCarlisle @barbarabeeton 2013 is cleared from 1st Aug to 31st Dec. In 2013 there are another 409 rows (more or less) in my query
@IanThompson I found an excellent deal at 33000€. I opted out, though.

@egreg nice answer. Unfortunately there are a bunch of commands that I do not understand. But being you a wizard and me a newbie, I think it's fair
@IanThompson I trust abebooks more than ebay, though. I would never buy such a precious article on ebay

@Moriambar There was some unused code. I also made it more efficient.

@egreg nice

9:30 PM
@Moriambar @barbarabeeton 2012 done

@DavidCarlisle -- i don't believe you. take a look at this one: tex.stackexchange.com/a/50408 -- that's from my own little checklist. you'll have to figure out why your search didn't find it. (leaving now; chariot awaits. but i will log on later to follow up.)

@barbarabeeton standard reason, I haven't found a way to search for tabs via sql (it should be char(9) but it seems to be normalised away) the elisp script would fix it but only if it gets applied

@DavidCarlisle ooh I can fix that
(perhaps)
@DavidCarlisle please don't fix the post for a couple of minutes
so that I can test the query

@Moriambar I tried to replace ' ' in the first replace to TAB or some such by using char(9) then liik for \TAB instead of \XXX but nothing I tried worked
@Moriambar sorry too late:-) (I could revert the edit)

@DavidCarlisle can't you rollback? please?

9:40 PM
@Moriambar done

@DavidCarlisle I meddled with the query, it still does not pop up. Are you sure it's only a tab?
(I got many more results though)

@Moriambar yes single backslash tab can occur instead of single backslash four spaces as tab (used to be) an alternative for four spaces to give the code indent (and the usual sx elisp found them all so there are no hidden charcters)
@Moriambar not that it matters but of course my rollback does not affect the query (until sunday)
@Moriambar do you have a link to your tab query?

@DavidCarlisle ok, so: I have the query adjusted and pops out 40 more results, but still have to find the post
@DavidCarlisle I used the same query and put an or in it
@DavidCarlisle right

@JosephWright still around?

@DavidCarlisle Just ...

9:52 PM
@DavidCarlisle ehr the new query pops out 1500 results for 2012 alone :D

Q: A problem with auto-pst-pdf and latest update of graphics-def

BernardSince last update of graphics-def (2017-06-12) I have error messages when using auto-pst-pdf and pstricks. These error messages involve the \stockwidth and stockheight lengths, which are defined by the memoir class, if I'm not mistaken, which I do not use. Typing s in the console nevertheless res...

I can look but I'm just about wiped out by \\ edits:-)

@DavidCarlisle Drat: just did one upload about 30 mins ago

@Moriambar please tell me that that isn't the real status :(

@DavidCarlisle I'll look at that first thing tomorrow

@JosephWright thanks

9:55 PM
@DavidCarlisle @barbarabeeton I think I'd better go to bed now, since I will be up in a few hours. Anyway I added the tab query, which adds some more posts. I will do another query (just not to disturb the work) asap, and will find how to pop up those nasty posts. I feel too tired to do a good job
@DavidCarlisle you have to assume it is. Around 1100 worst case. But I don't think it's that way at all

@JosephWright auto-pst-pdf loads two drivers: pdftex.def and dvips.def, and so the \ifx\stockwidth\@undefined from the second fails due to the \@ifundefined{stockwidth} from the first.

@UlrikeFischer Funny: I don't think we really changed much here
@UlrikeFischer I'm off to bed anyway: I'll look in the morning (over breakfast)

@UlrikeFischer @JosephWright yes just came back here to say the same, as Joseph says that hasn't really changed I thought. Should be easy enough to fix, eg use \@ifundefined in all the drivers

@JosephWright In miktex pdftex.def uses \ltx@IfUndefined{stockwidth} instead of \@ifundefined.

@UlrikeFischer ah that... grmbl
@UlrikeFischer the new def files try to avoid pulling in 1001 contributed packages from all over...

10:06 PM
@DavidCarlisle I am afraid there are bad news anyway. Around 2000 total from 2011 to 2013

@DavidCarlisle Well the main problem is that dvips.def uses \ifx\stockwidth\@undefined, \@ifundefined instead should work.

Sorry @DavidCarlisle @barbarabeeton I did not do my best on the previous query. Neverhteless neither this one nor the one before effectively checked the tab, I think, but the latter pops up the dreaded answer
I have to go to bed now, sorry again guys
ps: the new query is a surplus w.r.t. the previous "per year" one, ie both have to be unqueued

@Moriambar fun (thanks for fixing the query though)

@DavidCarlisle well I really have to sleep. Tomorrow I will try and refine it, since I believe they should be way less. We'll see

@Moriambar thanks I'm sure that's what I tried before but I must have messed up as I got no results every time, If I amend yours just to look for \ tab I get 1498 hits which is rather depressing data.stackexchange.com/tex/query/edit/684287
@barbarabeeton ^
@Moriambar but it includes this one which has \ space but no \ tab and I think no bug, so it seems the tex.sx is normalising char(9) to a space before running the query

10:38 PM
@PauloCereda @DavidCarlisle I think we have a new culinary winner to annoy the Italians: @CarLaTeX @Moriambar @egreg Pasta: Queen Nigella Lawson mixes Marmite with butter and parm for a super savory spaghetti dinner. Want something a little richer? Use it to boost your carbonara.

@DavidCarlisle yes no need to search for tabs. Need to sleep but unable

@AlanMunn excellent some cheery news at last after fixing \\ bugs all day

@DavidCarlisle :)

@Moriambar have one of @AlanMunn's marmite spaghetti dinners and you'll sleep like a log.

@AlanMunn I'm not a carbonara nazi. Just an insomniac. Pineapple pizza annoys me just fine, but thanks

10:40 PM
@DavidCarlisle Meanwhile I'm delving into the world of Windows 10 on a VM.

@DavidCarlisle what's marmite?

@Moriambar You really don't know what Marmite is then. :)

@AlanMunn nope

@Moriambar it's disgusting:-)

@DavidCarlisle Strangely, I'm keen on trusting you this time

10:42 PM
@Moriambar it's so bad their main advertising slogan is that half the population hate it (they claim the other half love it but I am not convinced)

@Moriambar Marmite is one of those things that if it's not imprinted on you during very early childhood you will likely hate it. And since only British people have such early imprinting, only they like it. Although there are similarly horrific (to others) versions in Australia and New Zealand.
@Moriambar I'm in the half that loves it, BTW.

@AlanMunn you're talking to a person who loves salmiakki
@DavidCarlisle lol

@Moriambar Doesn't everyone like that? :)

@AlanMunn you mean salmiakki (on mobile I can't see what you reply to) well at my office most do. We had to go through a detoxing period though aince we feared for our heath
Oh lord I'm missing keys

@Moriambar ^

10:46 PM
@DavidCarlisle I'm a hater by nature so…

@Moriambar Yes. Salmiakki. I like it. I know it from the Netherlands.

Never tried marmite
Not sure if we even get that here. Not easily, at least

@AlanMunn I heard about it, bought on a dare from finland, tasted it on a dare, loved it since

@Moriambar you take a perfectly fine piece of bread and spread on it a sticky black concentrated essence of some sort of yeast mould. lovely. perhaps.

Now I'll try to bang my head on the wall to see if I can at least get 5hrs of sleep
@DavidCarlisle yuck

10:48 PM
@Moriambar So who knows, you might actually like Marmite then. You should buy a jar when you're in London and investigate it properly.
@Moriambar And as with many things, don't believe a word that @DavidCarlisle says.

@AlanMunn I'll tell my colleague. I'm on a tight schedule
@AlanMunn he's a liquidator like me and @barbarabeeton. I have to trust him

@AlanMunn someone brought some marmite chocolates to work the other day, it was a kind of Russian roulette, they all looked the same but half had some innocuous fake truffle filling, and half had marmite in, and you had to take your chances... (I passed on the offer:-)

@AlanMunn Butter in the carbonara? Oh! ;-)

@DavidCarlisle That's pretty funny. Awful, but funny.
@egreg No, Marmite in the carbonara!

11:20 PM
@AlanMunn Ouch, you didn't get it. ;-)

@egreg Well I had a choice, and I chose wrong... :)
