For chinese readers: New book Introduction to LaTeX by Leo Liu

@texenthusiast 79.00 something. What is that in Latin currency?

Nice front cover

79 Japanese yen = 0.606225354 Euros
Google told me that. :P
Foreword by @DavidCarlisle. In Japanese. :)
Or Chinese.

@Qrrbrbirlbel ¥ Japanese yen as Paulo said

@PauloCereda Google tells me that 79 Yuan equal about 13 US dollar (10 Euros) ...

12:08 AM
@Qrrbrbirlbel Ah you are probably right. :) My Google result is very weird.

@Qrrbrbirlbel It's Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan
So Paulo was right

@texenthusiast I don't think they pay in Japanese Yen in China ...
The currency symbol looks more like .

@Qrrbrbirlbel there is a connection CJK

@texenthusiast @Qrrbrbirlbel: my brain is about to glitch. :)

@PauloCereda Just do a reset :)

12:14 AM
My brain ...

@PauloCereda to you

@texenthusiast awwww

1:02 AM
@Qrrbrbirlbel A nice animation...

4:38 AM
why texdoc.net pgfplots and ctan pgfplots are very different ? How frequently texdoc.net is updated otherwise it defeats the purpose of having multiple hostings

2 hours later…
7:01 AM
Is anyone capable of deciphering the added request from the OP to my answer:
0
A: Input Single Value, store 5 different value

Wernerarrayjobx can help with such things. Perhaps this is what you're after: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{arrayjobx}% http://ctan.org/pkg/arrayjobx \newarray\arttext\readarray{arttext}{A1 & A2 & A3 & A4 & A5 & A6} \newarray\artshortname\readarray{artshortname}{B1 & B2 & B3 & B4 & B5 & B6} \n...

I have no idea and do not understand the request.

@Werner no I don't understand the original question or the comments.

@DavidCarlisle Thanks... I'll attempt a second clarification before posting duck pictures as part of the answer.

@Werner and don't put extra @ in command names:-)

@DavidCarlisle Yes, thanks for that...
...I had thought that it was needed from the linked post in my answer.
However, I realized that's what pdftexcmds does - port stuff to Lua...
...so I removed the package, and forgot to remove the @s.

@Werner I'd already voted for it, so I thought I'd better make it work:-)

7:10 AM
@DavidCarlisle :)
Yay, @DavidCarlisle is voting people... I think this community is rubbing off on him.

@Werner actually I think I'm disproportionately voting for you, perhaps I should vote less:-)

@DavidCarlisle ...oh dear. I'll keep a check on the serial voting grab from the SE rep-grabbers!

2 hours later…
8:49 AM
Finally! we get some cricket spam instead of all that football.

9:17 AM
@DavidCarlisle :-)

9:42 AM
@JosephWright It's not the first spam by that user, IIRC

10:13 AM
@egreg I am awaiting the next person who wants to visit Shanghai ... maybe they can all go together.

11:12 AM
@DavidCarlisle LOL
@JosephWright: I'm quite in a hurry, but I'll try to format Khaled's interview today.

Q: Why does my microwave kill the Wi-Fi?

OhlinEvery time I start the microwave in the kitchen, our home Wi-Fi stops working and all devices lose connection with our router! The kitchen and the Wi-Fi router are in opposite ends of the apartment but devices are being used a little here and there. We've been annoyed by the instability of the Wi...

11:39 AM
@PauloCereda And this comment:

@Qrrbrbirlbel Oh my, microwaves are evil.

Those microwaves, always on a rampage.

@PauloCereda OK

12:20 PM
@JosephWright After I finish the formatting, could you take a quick look before I submit it to barbara? :)

@PauloCereda This evening, hopefully

@JosephWright No hurry. :)

Q: Printing stamp albums

Andrea MoriIs there any TeX package well suited for producing stamp albums? Some examples of stamp album pages can be seen here, here, here or here. In particular, captions can go anywhere around the frames and might be common to 2 or more frames.

I mean, there's only two kinds of stamps: English stamps in sets at the beginning of the album, and foreign stamps all mixed at the other end. Any gibbon could tell you that.

1:33 PM
@AlanMunn F&S? :)

@PauloCereda Yep. Do you understand the gibbon comment? stanleygibbons.com/stanleygibbons/view/content/sg_homepage

@AlanMunn ooh I was unaware of that!

@PauloCereda It's one of those little F&S gems that not even everyone in the original audiences probably got.

@AlanMunn You are a real connoisseur. :)

Q: typesetting in the style of Turing's famous "ON COMPUTABLE NUMBERS"

RobMaybe an unusual question but I love the typographical style of this text. http://classes.soe.ucsc.edu/cmps210/Winter11/Papers/turing-1936.pdf I am an art student writing a research paper. I would love to be able to present it in the style of Turing's famous text. Is there a \documentclass{} t...

Ah one of my favourite papers. :)Paulo Cereda 24 secs ago
:)
I just wonder the impact of the entcheidungsproblem on an art student. :)

@PauloCereda It shows formal mathematics is doomed, so justifying the career choice of Art.

1:46 PM
@DavidCarlisle Oh.
Damn experimental trend. :) Research has never been so boring. :)

1 hour later…
3:17 PM
@PauloCereda Come again? :P

@percusse I need to believe that theoretical stuff is hot, otherwise I'll kill myself out of boredom. :)

@PauloCereda I'm expecting your TikZ answers soon.
I think I have Nerds Gone Wild on one of my external drives :P — percusse 5 mins ago

@percusse I'm waiting for you to be my advisor. :)
@percusse LOL

I'll try to connect on the train again so bye for now.

@percusse Bye sir. :(

3:45 PM
@JosephWright: you got mail. :)

4:15 PM
Three concurring answers: @DavidCarlisle, @Werner and I. Guess who gets the green tick?

@egreg Place your bets! :)

4:50 PM
@egreg Yah, I don't know what's up with that. Mine was first, so it almost feels like you called out "Hey, look over there!" and snuck in ahead of me... :-|

@Werner Watch David pwn everybody with picture mode. :)

@PauloCereda @DavidCarlisle is getting into tikz thing as well, for some strange reason.

@Werner David is the only person I know that can learn a whole framework by simply adding \tracingall. That's how he knows TikZ. :)
5

@PauloCereda That deserves a LoL.
@egreg: I see you are also flexing your tikz muscles... or at least attempting through an adequate copy-and-paste. :)

@Werner Yes, for a hidden \mathchoice. ;-)

5:12 PM
But Gonzalo's answer is really better

5:24 PM
@PauloCereda are there other ways?

@DavidCarlisle Reading the manual? :)

@PauloCereda wow, novel idea!
@Werner s/gold/silver:
Jan 2 at 16:46, by David Carlisle
@FaheemMitha The new years resolution is to get a tikz gold badge by answering tikz question with tex primitives, picture mode, or if really pushed pstricks, doing quite well so far this year.

@DavidCarlisle I got that idea by using \tracingall. :)

5:55 PM
@Papiro Please have a look on this question, see my edits and please do it next time by your own when reviewing a first post ...

Q: Some undefined references from same BibTeX file

user145728My research did not produced any results for this problem and an example file does not produce the same error. I do not understand why some references are not defined while others are without hiccups. I'm using Kile, JabRef under Ubuntu and the thesis package. My work is divided by chapters a...

6:22 PM
Hello, can I use any font installed on my windows with texlive?
I must write my thesis in times new roman
thanks

6:35 PM
@Kurt Hi my friend. No, thanks, I will not do that. Acording with my dear friend @percusse, "that's is a fake welcome and rubs some people the wrong way. It's acctually much like Microsoft Help..." :-)

@percusse Actually I've had an idea how to do it datatool.

@NicolaTalbot You mean hacking your own package? :P
@Papiro Hey leave me out of this, internet is full of angry people. I take no responsibility
:P

@percusse "It seems like you are writing a letter! Do you want some help with that?" :)

@saadtaame \usepackage{newtxmath,newtxmath}

@percuse :-)

6:44 PM
@PauloCereda a paperclip tragedy by Microsoft Help Act 1

I wonder what calamity one could summon when including \usepackage{mileycyrus} in a document. :)
@percusse :)

@Kurt and I do not want to bore my guru @DavidCarlisle "just removing thanks and posting a boilerplate welcome :)" hehehe

Is Jerry Maguirre a good film? It has tom cruise in it so I don't know
shouldn't be....
@NicolaTalbot You mean you want to implement a table join?
I did one for pgfplots and it was fast enough for Harish for a few thousand entries I guess....
6
Q: Write a column selectively to the appropriate row using pgfplotstable?

Harish KumarDescription: I have a .csv file named namespgf.csv Reg.No.,Name 5501,Kathirvelu A 5502,Gugan K 5503,Kalaitchelvi S 5504,Suresh S 5505,Mahesh K and another .csv file named markspgf.csv number,marks 5501,67 5502,25 5503,62 5505,95 Pl. note that the register number 5504 is not there in markspg...

but still not so efficient I can imagine
and there are datatool solutions on that one

@percusse I wasn't going to implement it into datatool. I was just going to answer the question with a custom handler for \dtlsort. It would, however, be far more efficient to store the tables in a SQL database and get SQL to do the sorting and joining.

@NicolaTalbot that was also Christian's opinion.

7:05 PM
@percusse I've answered it.

7:21 PM
@NicolaTalbot Voted with pleasure

@percusse :-) I've decided that I do the \dtlgetrowforvalue and \dtlgetentryfromcurrentrow combination so often in answers that I'm going to add a shortcut command in the next version of datatool. It'll save me some typing.

1 hour later…
8:35 PM
There's something wrong with the attitude shown here:
1
Q: How do I print out more than 200 citations in \begin{thebibliography} ... \end{thebibliography}

tmwittenI have more than 200 citations in a simple \begin{thebibliography}{99} \bibitem{stuff}Citation ...... \bibitem{ etc .... 200 times \end{thebibliography} when I compile it, it won't give me all of the citations. Any ideas? I can't put the citations into BibTeX format. I am constrained by time.

9:29 PM
@Papiro In that part of discussion one said (I think it was your dear friend @percuse) that people want to tell you something. perhaps you should better read better between the lines? It does nobody help only commenting "Welcome to TeX.SE". Now please reread and rethink what was said.

9:53 PM
@Kurt I am not a good reader "between the lines". Thank you for your advice but I will not reread and rethink nothing. Have a good time.

10:12 PM
@percusse I've added a table join example in the datatool user guide and uploaded v2.17 to CTAN.

1 hour later…
11:40 PM
Is anyone good a deciphering Matlab code into Python code? I have an idea but not sure if it is correct or will work.
