@cfr I meant more in terms of the standard practice we've adopted, e.g.siunitx and fontspec both have keys with no spaces. I should probably make some notes on this.
@PauloCereda that URL is 404 not found so it's not surprising it doesn't work, but why is it trying to load it:-) Gerd said he couldn't see any errors in their logs related to my upload, but that's what the chrome console said, and the upload was rejected on multiple occurrences
@JosephWright yes but I got mine there via ctan-o-mat
@egreg, @david, Good morning dear friends. Can I ask an help? tex.stackexchange.com/questions/411948/…. Can you give a comprehensive answer to the user in my answer?
The wikibook has gotten some changes by several contributors. Is anybody aware if there was some action leading to this? There are so many edits, i cannot review them all, especially since one page is edited again and again and again.
However, putting a tikzpicture inside an itemize, which is inside a tcolorbox, which is in a beamer frame seems quite challenging. tex.stackexchange.com/a/412394/101651
@CarLaTeX I used it as it was a mandated format for the workshop I was attending, but since the workshop was an EU session on "Open Document Formats" I spent most of my talk complaining that I had been forced to use PowerPoint:-)
@CarLaTeX well given that almost every speaker did the same, except for one speaker who got a round of applause for saying she refused to use powerpoint and used html slides, I guess they did, yes:-)
@CarLaTeX @DavidCarlisle So I think there is no need to switch to powerpoint. (A friend of mine used to say that "The first day when Microsoft is making something that does not suck is when it starts producing vacuum cleaners." ;-)
@egreg One of the best comments on Microsoft was given two days ago by the physics Nobel Laureate Barry C. Barish, who complained that Bill Gates does still not understand that spacetime is one word, and hence puts wiggles under it. (Ironically, on this site the wiggles are under "Barish", not under spacetime ;-)
@HaraldHanche-Olsen -- still in rehab, but i will go home tomorrow. no pool here, but i do get practice in stair climbing. after i go home, i will go to the local jcc to exercise in their gym and pool. (that's the only pool that keeps the temperature warm enough that i don't stop breathing when i clamber in. both the ymca and the brown pool keep the water about 4-5 degrees cooler. too cold for wimps like me.)
@HaraldHanche-Olsen -- oh, and i've got my "get out of jail free" card and can go back to office on monday, where i'll be able to use a real keyboard! laptop and touchpad are not my most favorite weapons.
@HaraldHanche-Olsen -- quite true. even though i've got a nice view out my window here; better, actually, than the view out the windows at home. but i'll have to watch out for icy sidewalks again -- possibly more snow/ice predicted on tuesday. winter isn't over yet. and the groundhog doesn't check for his shadow until next friday.
@barbarabeeton I have a nice set of spikes I can add to my boots. They're imbedded in a piece of rubber that fits over the sole. Can't you get such things in your neck of the woods?
@HaraldHanche-Olsen -- yes, they (or something like that) are available. i actually do have two different sets of "yaktrax", one with metal coils, and the other with carbide cubes. i'll have trouble putting them on, though -- either one wreaks havoc on nice hardwood floors, and i'm still forbidden to bend over 90 degrees or more, so would have to go barefoot and carry shoes until i get outside. a slight predicament.
mr. @marmot -- your question about casting shadows would really be more timely on february 2. at least in the u.s.
@barbarabeeton I know. And I really wanted to make sure that my friends cast a shadow. Otherwise we might have a long period of cloudy weather just because of a LaTeX error.
@JosephWright Unfortunately, I didn't read those before writing my packages & classes using expl3 keys. And I don't use either. (Occasionally fontspec to answer a question, but that's it.) I did read the l3keys and expl3 keys documentation, but neither mentioned this. I also read the guidelines for naming expl3 macros etc., but that didn't really cover the user interface.
@barbarabeeton I prefer my laptop keyboard. For one thing, it is US, so things are in the 'right' places. I find the pipe especially awkward on UK keyboards. The only trouble is writing about money, so good thing I'm not an economist.
@barbarabeeton I'm glad you're recovering from whatever you were suffering from ;).
@cfr -- on my office keyboard, there are two keys that can be used to delete -- one to the left, and one to the right. it also has a reliable mouse, rather than a touchpad. one of the problems is partly my own fault -- the laptop does not have a current operating system installed, but since the last time i registered a device with the company one of the results was loss of a valid gmail account, and with it loss of access to the app store, i can't upgrade by myself, so i'm gunshy.
@cfr -- two days before christmas, i had an argument with an icy sidewalk, and the ice won. i got a new left hip for christmas. thanks for your good wishes.
@egreg -- walking securely with a cane, and, on level inside surfaces, even without. can navigate stairs with a good handrail. will go home tomorrow and back to office on monday. i'll be very careful if it gets snowy or icy outside. a couple more months of that ...
@barbarabeeton A few years ago I had a battle with an icy sidewalk too: it won, of course. But it only resulted in an aching wrist for a couple of weeks.
@egreg -- but i don't speak italian ... and i've never been to italy. (the last time i had a chance, the weather was too warm, so we went north and ended up in helsinki (which i love!).
