@egreg BTW, "how to find the lenght of a symbol?" seems a good question to me. I'll post it if there's not already a similar one...
@CarLaTeX It depends on the font, of course. I did \sbox0{$\wedge$}\showthe\wd0 \sbox0{$\mspace{1mu}$} and found 6.66669pt and 0.55554pt. Dividing gives 12.
@CarLaTeX With similar code you find that \bigcirc is 18mu wide, so your guess of 15mu is correct.
@egreg Yes, of course, it depends on the font. However I think it could be useful to show how you found it. I'll ask it on the site...

@EnricoMariaDeAngelis Thank you for editing!

@PauloCereda just to make a break from my usual scheme of sticking to tikz:
@PeterGrill don't confuse me with these tikz technicalities otherwise I'll post a picture mode answer instead:-) (I suggest you accept the other answer in anycase) — David Carlisle 21 hours ago
@DavidCarlisle ooh :)

@JosephWright: rep cap today, I see. :)
@CarLaTeX: In case you are wondering why I deleted my last comment, it’s because I suddenly realized that you are using mu (of course… :-)

Q: Console vim(x): Can I map the scroll wheel to undo--redo?

yo'It's sort-of a follow to a recent XKCD. I want to know whether it's possible to map the scroll wheel to undo and redo, possibly n undos/redos per scroll? I'm using mate-terminal in MATE 1.6.x, bash, vimx 7.4, full info: $ vimx --version VIM - Vi IMproved 7.4 (2013 Aug 10, compiled Oct 13 2014 ...

Gotta love @UlrikeFischer's talk title: „Es geht nicht!“ – wie man mit Fehler umgehen sollte. Tipps zu Fehleranalyse, Fehlerkorrektur, Hilfe finden. :)
@PauloCereda solution: never introduce a bug. Simple.

@PauloCereda I just posted another answer.
@Da Indeed, that wasn't the question. But maybe the user is asking an XY question? Who knows.
@Johannes_B I don't think so, I think Op understands the first error and is just asking why you then get a missing begin document error when \begin{document} is clearly there.
@DavidCarlisle ooh

Wow: look at the file date in the comment!
@JosephWright That file could have grand kids by now :-)
@JosephWright Do we have an tag?
@egreg :)
@JosephWright By the way, I received nothing from Rainer
@egreg I guessed that: did you send him an ssh key?
@egreg Note that I don't really know Rainer: @FrankMittelbach or @DavidCarlisle better bets in that regard
18:08
@JosephWright No. I'll look again at your mail
@egreg Access to Comedy is SSH key only, no passphrases
@egreg I need an ssh key (RSA, at least 2048 bits).
@JosephWright “He'll let you know…”
18:30
@JosephWright impressive
@egreg @JosephWright what are you two talking about?
@JosephWright iit took me a while to set up my environment (and thanks to Karl's help) for Savannah.
@JosephWright it's certainly not much older than @DavidCarlisle :)
18:52
@JosephWright I think the tag is particularly appropriate
@DavidCarlisle Indeed
@FrankMittelbach News or otherwise from Rainer
@JosephWright so what kind of news do you need?
There are two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors.
19:08
work with mathquill?
?
@gokuvenz Huh?
@FrankMittelbach I don't need anything: it's @egreg!
speak spanish
Someone works with mathquill

Hello everyone,

I am using biblatex with apa style and I have two references with the same authors in the same order, and both are published in the same year.

How can I remove the extra label letter suffixing the year (e.g. 2017a & 2017b)? knowing that setting uniquename and uniquelist to false doesn't help.
@JosephWright ok, then @egreg please tell me what's needed/missing ... email or here
@gokuvenz you are just making statements, if you are asking for help with that application then this is the wrong place, i think I have heard of it but never used it, and i expect that will be true of most people here.
@FrankMittelbach mostly @egreg needs to send Rainer an ssh key (if he wants access to the repository)
19:13
thanks men
@DavidCarlisle thought that is clear to everybody .. no?
@FrankMittelbach apparently not:-)
19:41
@DiaaAbidou How would you then know which is which?
19:58
I don't know why it didn't simply across my mind :)
Sorry for this question.

1 hour later…
21:12
@FrankMittelbach It is to me, but I received no mail from Rainer. And no minutes from the last meeting.
@egreg No?
@JosephWright That's what I said earlier.
@egreg I thought you meant nothing direct: my understanding was he'd added you to the team list ...
@JosephWright No, he didn't. I received some messages because Frank added my address to the recipient list. After that thread, nothing at all.
@egreg Ah
@egreg That's a pain, then
@FrankMittelbach ^^^
21:28
@DavidCarlisle Sorry for stealing your tick. :P
@egreg See forwards
@JosephWright Thanks
@egreg did you? I didn't notice, I've been involved in important political meetings, not here
@DavidCarlisle Oooh
21:56
@DavidCarlisle That's a budget!
22:56
@egreg I see you found a latex document coding style suitable for your advanced years.
@DavidCarlisle Nostalgia
@egreg you should have uncommented the \documentstyle line as well for the full effect
23:42
@egreg then something went wrong ... I'm sure he said he had added you

Hey I'm building a tex to speech interpreter. Just came across a few functions I don't have names yet for. Any math people know how \partial and \ln should be pronounced?
\exp from what I gather should read as "Exponential function: "
