7:43 AM
I hope this font stuff gets fixed soon!

yo'
8:01 AM
@Johannes_B Who are you? A poet? :)
The blue (indeed cold) somehow doesn't work with our warm and welcoming red-brown TeX, resting on top of the page looking down to the questions with pride like an old man sitting in front of the fireplace looking at his playing grandsons. — Johannes_B 14 hours ago
@JosephWright So do 18 people at least...

9:01 AM
Hi guys.
Oh dear. What have the SE people been doing?
@DavidCarlisle Why? It doesn't seem that bad to me. Give the people what they want, I say.

9:15 AM
@FaheemMitha it's like saying if someone wants a box, give them a car with wheel clamps so it doesn't move.

@DavidCarlisle Is that a good analogy? [H] is a functional alternative, isn't it?
I just means, put it here, and I mean here.

@FaheemMitha but the only point in the figure environment is to allow it to move.

@DavidCarlisle It is? Don't you need it to put other stuff with the figure?

@FaheemMitha \includegraphics can go anywhere, you just wrap it in figure to allow it to move, then add \caption so that you can refer to wherever it moved to.

@DavidCarlisle Oh. So the figure environment's only raison de etre is to allow it to float?

9:25 AM
@FaheemMitha that's why it's called a floating environment:-)

@DavidCarlisle Yes, that would make sense. :-)

9:51 AM
hello, i want to write a bvp and i want to enumerate the equation and the boundary conditions how can i do ?

@Vrouvrou what is a bvp?

@Vrouvrou I can guess what you mean by bvp (although many won't) but I can't even begin to guess what layout you want. ask a proper question with a proper complete example on site and say what you want the output to be

yo'
@Manuel ^^

@yo' but it gives you extra space for scribbling notes in red:-)

yo'
@DavidCarlisle useful. I think I'll get a permanent marker so that I can do it on the screen :D
(btw, has anybody invented whiteboard screens? that sounds like a perfect idea for talks. I know there exist the interactive screens, but they work as touchscreens and not whiteboards)

9:59 AM
@yo' I see you've been to the @PauloCereda school of digital editing, with the fancy graphics there.

@DavidCarlisle oy
:)

yo'
@DavidCarlisle what do you mean? Putting the two screenshots next to each other and then writing 8 symbols using the mouse? :)

@yo' The latter, especially

yo'
@DavidCarlisle looks more like your school than @Paulo's, tho.

@yo' no, I'm in a different league with my professional MS paint effects.

10:02 AM
@DavidCarlisle : $$\begin{cases}
-\Delta_{p}(u)=\lambda_1 |x|^{p\theta}|u|^{p-2} u+f(x,u)-h ~~\text{in}~\Omega,\\
u\in W^{1,p}_0(\Omega).
\end{cases}$$
i want to enumerate the two equations

yo'
@Vrouvrou it doesn't really makes sense. Why would you use the bracket then at all?

@Vrouvrou There is a question and answer site associated with this chat site you know, and that example seems to be missing \documentclass

@egreg: apparently Palmeiras contracted Katy Perry:

yo'
@Vrouvrou use just align and align them by = and \in. You can as well use subequations, then they'll get numbers (5.7a) and (5.7b). That should be it.

10:06 AM
:)

@yo' i don't understant

@DavidCarlisle Shouldn't you be using TikZ?

@PaulGessler: Katy Perry will play in São Paulo in September. I wil go iff that shark will go as well. :P

13 hours ago, by David Carlisle
@Gregd'Eon who needs tikz when you have picture mode?

@Vrouvrou I don't think the fact that your equation is a boundary value problem is relevant here. And overuse of acronyms is an unfortunately prevalent net disease.
@DavidCarlisle Everyone?

10:09 AM
@FaheemMitha wrong answer

yo'
@Vrouvrou you either have an equation and that gets a number. Or you have a system and then each equation gets a number. But for the system, the bracket on the left is superfluous.

@DavidCarlisle I like TikZ. Though the syntax can be a bit weird. And the manual is like a million words. And it runs really slow.

yo'
@FaheemMitha It's not a learning manual, it's a reference manual.

@yo' Maybe, still a million words. Or whatever it is.
Not complaining, mind. Just observing.

yo'
@FaheemMitha I agree

10:12 AM
@yo' This.

yo'
@PauloCereda :)

More documentation is always better than less. And it's a pretty good manual.

@PauloCereda does it have a manual? I thought you had to learn by using tracing

Pretty pictures, too.
@DavidCarlisle As you once remarked, people don't read documentation.

@DavidCarlisle Apparently it does, but it's for the weak who can't properly use tracing. :)

10:13 AM
I thought you were supposed to intuit the command by divine inspiration. Or copying the examples of others.

@yo' i have to write the bracket, how can i give a number to each equation under the bracket

yo'
@Vrouvrou there are some tricks for it and I think it's been asked before. But it would really be better to write a proper question on the site.

10:45 AM
@PauloCereda ooooooh hopefully the shark will attend! Wait—the other possibility—are you one of the dancing sharks‽ You could apply to be one! Be on the stage with Katy Perry!

@PaulGessler ooooh

11:01 AM
@DavidCarlisle Fiddling with expl3 tests and TL'15 to see what has changed. The format update will have some effects!

@PauloCereda I'm happy I'll not be near the place on 25 September. ;-)

@egreg C'mon, at least you like the shark. :)

@DavidCarlisle Something has consumed an extra box

11:13 AM
@JosephWright oh the comment above

@DavidCarlisle Am tracking it down slowly

@JosephWright just got back to my desk so only saw the last comment initially;-)

@JosephWright I'm betting it was @egreg: Some say he eats boxes and glue for breakfast. All we know is, he's called egreg!
5

@PauloCereda tell him it's a football match and invite him over
@PaulGessler unfortunately that phrase is no more:-)

@PaulGessler You forgot penalties.

11:16 AM
@DavidCarlisle I know :-( I followed it when all that was happening, but haven't really since the contract end date. Have they found anybody to carry it on?
Anyway, even if they have, I know it won't be the same.

@PaulGessler not clear whether it will. I suspect they are discussing with the other two if they want to carry on, or whether they'll attempt a complete restart

@DavidCarlisle I think it might be because we load etex and that's no longer required

@egreg That sounds suspiciously Brazilian. :)

@JosephWright oh you mean the box allocation changed, rather than a box went from the output?

@DavidCarlisle Yes, should have been clearer
@DavidCarlisle I'm hoping to make some more l3build updates but first need to know what is working with TL'15

11:24 AM
@JosephWright I set the test suite off here so I would have found out in the end:-)

11:45 AM
@DavidCarlisle Found a LuaTeX change (not about the boxes): mail coming up

@JosephWright didn't spot a box allocation change but I get
./build/test/m3hooks001.luatex.diff
./build/test/m3hooks001.pdftex.diff
./build/test/m3hooks001.xetex.diff
./build/test/m3hooks002.luatex.diff
./build/test/m3hooks002.pdftex.diff
./build/test/m3hooks002.xetex.diff
./test/m3regex001.luatex.diff
./test/m3regex001.xetex.diff
./test/m3str-convert002.luatex.diff
./test/m3str002.luatex.diff
@JosephWright is that the list you get?

@DavidCarlisle Haven't checked everything: the hooks ones are to be expected, certainly
\tracingoutput=1 %
\showboxdepth=\maxdimen
\showboxbreadth=\maxdimen
1-world
\bye
breaks m3coffins001 with LuaTeX

@JosephWright the new whatsit?

@DavidCarlisle No, the log is showing a ...\discretionary that should not be there

@DavidCarlisle When is a table not a table? When it's a list!

11:55 AM
Yay lotsa M&M's!

@JosephWright after the - pdftex shows same?
@FaheemMitha whenever I see tabularx with a preamble of lX I scream use a list sometimes it works....
@FaheemMitha but mostly I meant the comments about [H]

@DavidCarlisle LuaTeX 0.79.0 doesn't

@DavidCarlisle ok

@JosephWright so that means they fixed something? Presumably breaking after explicit - that was raised here

@DavidCarlisle Yes

12:03 PM
@Vrouvrou why didn't you post a proper example when making the question on site?

@DavidCarlisle We will need to decide what to do able the TL'14 -> TL'15 switch: when do we alter the test files. I think last year the feeling was to hold off until it officially ships.

@JosephWright yes probably, or we could make an svn branch for the pretest:-) I think I'll send some mail about xetex, I wonder if Frank or Chris want to do a bit of changefile hacking...

@DavidCarlisle I've got a few changes to make to l3build: I'll stick to TL'14 for them (so we know where the tests pass)
@DavidCarlisle The LaTeX2e situation is different from the LaTeX3 one as the former is only about engine changes but in the latter the format changes also show up

Stupid question: if I install TL'15 pretest, will it seamlessly transition/update into the official released TL'15 with tlmgr, or will I separately install the release version?

@PaulGessler Seamless: tlmgr doesn't actually know it's pretest so all that is needed is perhaps to change your default repository after they release

12:17 PM
@PaulGessler usually if I recall correctly you just need to change the repository it is using then it starts picking up the full release

@DavidCarlisle @JosephWright cool, that's what I thought from reading the page but it wasn't totally clear. Thanks!

@PaulGessler let it be noted that sometimes @JosephWright and I agree

@DavidCarlisle :-)
@DavidCarlisle Much of the time, I'd say

@PauloCereda Do you eat penalties for breakfast too?

@egreg No, we kick them. :) Poorly.

12:34 PM
@JosephWright I don't understand your message, or was that before you realised pdftex made same \discretionary?

@DavidCarlisle Yes
@DavidCarlisle I followed up saying I'd missed something :-)

@JosephWright not got here yet:-)

@PauloCereda :)

@JosephWright yep got that, the [svn-mirror] close message has arrived as well now. As you see I sent a message re xetex

12:46 PM
@DavidCarlisle :-)

@yo' I rolled back your edit for now, we can put status-completed back on the post once it's implemented for both main and meta. There are still things changing, so I don't want to mark it complete until it's completely fixed.

@yo' No poet, penguin.
This ugly blue just bugs me out. And these ugly braces. To be honest, i never really noticed them before, but now ...

1:02 PM
Is it just me, or are the new site CSS changes not at all an improvement?

@AlanMunn in my opinion most of them are not improvements. :-)

@AlanMunn not just you:-)

Ducks should be properly aligned. :)Paulo Cereda 23 hours ago

@PaulGessler I use an 11in Mac Air most of the time, so an expansion of screen space per item is always a bad thing. This problem is becoming worse and worse all over the web. It's as if all the developers have 45in monitors and design for that.

@AlanMunn "Responsive layouts" is the name of such bullshit feature. :)

1:07 PM
@PauloCereda The worst version of this by far is Google docs/drive which has become essentially unusable.

@AlanMunn only one 45in monitor? so limiting:

@AlanMunn Indeed.

@AlanMunn ^^^ real stack exchange developers desk for home working...

@DavidCarlisle Yeah, as I wrote that I realized how stupid it sounded...

1:08 PM
David Fullerton on January 16, 2015

There was a time where it seemed like we barely even needed to talk about this: Joel had won the argument, the Internet agreed that private offices were the future, and only incompetent management (or a tight budget) was still putting developers in cubicle farms. A glorious future lay before us.

The original Fog Creek Bionic Office, way back in ye olde 2003. We didn’t have iPhones, but at least the offices had doors.

Unfortunately, that’s not quite how it turned out. Open plans have been surprisingly hard to kill, despite research showing that they’re unpopular, decrease employee satisfact …

1:27 PM
Are we down?

@PauloCereda no

@DavidCarlisle Phew, so my internet connection is the one to blame. :)

@PauloCereda you have a router that can reach chat but not the main site?

@DavidCarlisle I think it was only some temporary problem. :)

@PauloCereda probably @egreg has same, to account for his pitifully small rep today

1:31 PM
@DavidCarlisle LOL

Time used for installing the packages: 18:41
running mktexlsr /usr/local/texlive/2015/texmf-dist ...
mktexlsr: Updating /usr/local/texlive/2015/texmf-dist/ls-R...
mktexlsr: Done.
Installing TL 2015 ^^^

@PauloCereda I added that suggestion about error bars to my blog
@egreg MacTeX?

@PauloCereda The Powers saw we were investigating on them so they closed us for a bit.
@JosephWright No, I opted for a Unix install.

@JosephWright ooh
@egreg ah :)

@egreg Ah
@egreg Did you see the XeTeX issues mentioned on the mailing list?

1:37 PM
@JosephWright The \beginL problem?

@egreg no texlive list encoding/pattern problem

@egreg What @DavidCarlisle said: something is bust

@DavidCarlisle Yes, xelatex.fmt doesn't build

1:59 PM
@JosephWright @DavidCarlisle The problem is that the shown characters are different from what's on the line
@JosephWright U+0E04 seems not to be seen

@egreg Yes, but the fact remains the build is bust

@JosephWright I see nothing strange about U+0E20 in unicode-letters.def
@JosephWright And this seems specific to Mac OS X

2:15 PM
@egreg Yes

@JosephWright It seems that the post by Jonathan Kew pinpoints the issue.
Meanwhile, Kurtis has fixed the code blocks (with a more generous interline) and also the tag size in the main page. :)
@JosephWright Here's the minimal test:
\font\test="Ayuthaya"
\test

ภ
\bye
With XeTeX it returns "No pages of output"
@JosephWright This confirms Jonathan's suspect

2:38 PM
@DavidCarlisle I'd like three monitors. But I don't think my desk has the space. Or my room, for that matter.

2:51 PM
@DavidCarlisle Did you look at your rep for yesterday? :P

@egreg The XeTeX situation generally looks a bit awkward with the TeX--XeT => TeX-XeT business

2 days ago, by David Carlisle
@JosephWright good! I'm about to vanish for a two day course (starts in 20 minutes:-) so might not be around so much during the day.

@DavidCarlisle Excuses.

@egreg I wonder if other sx sites were as argumentative about the changes:-)

Oh goody, the new profile pages have appeared

And here is an interesting snap shot:
user image

@JosephWright cool, been waiting for that to start showing up. I think I'll actually like those changes. :-)

@HarishKumar apparently student is my next badge as well
@egreg what is the chance of your "next badge" prediction being correct? ^^^^

@DavidCarlisle I was exactly thinking to that! :)
@HarishKumar I didn't see your picture before looking at my profile page. :)
@HarishKumar Should I look harder for the "make a question" button? I find it nowhere.

3:30 PM
@egreg It's probably the new site css, they probably made it white on white or something. I can't find it either.

@egreg Next feature request, when site design takes place, is to make the Ask a question button to occupy full screen for you. ;-)
@DavidCarlisle For you as well :-)

@DavidCarlisle :-)

@HarishKumar or modify the gamification of the site such that the rep cap is increased to 400 on days when a well-received question is asked. :-)

@PaulGessler That trick won't work on egreg as he will score 400 with out any difficulties, if he wants to. He is a reputation earning bot. I think we should make it 1000 at least. :-)

4:36 PM
@HarishKumar Maybe for 1500.

Did people see that GitHub and Twitter have been 'blessed' with dedicated slots in the profile page?

@JosephWright which profile page?

@FaheemMitha The new profile system: if you edit it there's a box to add your Twitter and/or GitHub accounts, if you have such things

@JosephWright Oh. Where you add stuff about yourself. Got it.

@FaheemMitha Yes, but presumably also where other people can see it :-)

4:43 PM
@JosephWright of course. Why else would you add stuff about yourself?

@FaheemMitha Anyway, I've added my GitHub account: I'm sure @DavidCarlisle will be rushing to do his too!

@JosephWright Well, my profile page is blank, and I have no immediate plans to change that.

@FaheemMitha :-)

@JosephWright I guess that bit about David is a joke. He doesn't seem the GitHub type.

@FaheemMitha Of course
@FaheemMitha He's been forced there from Google Code!

4:48 PM
Though it is hard to avoid getting a GitHub account these days.
I have one, though I don't use Git.

@FaheemMitha As I've said, this is driving a move to Git whatever people thing about other approaches

@JosephWright What is? GitHub?

@FaheemMitha Yes, but also other sites (BitBucket would be an obvious one)

@JosephWright BB was originally a Mercurial site. They went over to the Dark Side.

@FaheemMitha I used to use BitBucket: I moved my stuff to GitHub when they (BB) shifted to Git as the first-choice DVCS: writing on the wall

4:54 PM
Here we go again...

@PaulGessler ditto

@PauloCereda quacko! :-)

@JosephWright I tend to ignore writing on the wall.

@PaulGessler woof! :)

I leave for four days and site design looks like it's gone to hell and back. My goodness.

4:59 PM
@SeanAllred I don't think it's quite all the way back yet, lol.

@Dom Saw this in the starred list -- looks good :) Could use some microtype protrusion, though :)
> The Q&A site ducks.stackexchange.com doesn't seem to exist… yet.
@PaulGessler It would appear so
Lots of cool stuff coming out, regardless

@SeanAllred <3

I can't really tell -- is this related to the CSS changes? meta.tex.stackexchange.com/a/6078/17423
I don't know enough of web design to say, so I'm not sure that's the right place to raise the issue.

5:20 PM
Does anybody have numbers on relative changes of fonts in Q/As? How big is the difference since the update yesterday?

@JosephWright done:-)

This edit, is the addendum clear enough? tex.stackexchange.com/revisions/8653/3

@FaheemMitha all my open source projects are on github

@DavidCarlisle seriously?

5:27 PM
@DavidCarlisle Ok, I guess you'll be adding in your github account in there, then.

3 mins ago, by David Carlisle
@JosephWright done:-)
@FaheemMitha mostly they were on gogglecode (svn) but google is shutting that down

@DavidCarlisle So I heard. So you switched everything to git? That's... brave of you.

@FaheemMitha I could have looked around to find another svn host but there was a one-click export to github and that's the way the world is moving....

@DavidCarlisle Not all of it.

@FaheemMitha not all of it is moving at the same speed, true:-)

5:33 PM
@DavidCarlisle Not all of it is moving towards Git. :-)

Q: Site design updates are live!

Kurtis BeaversI'm a designer for Stack Exchange, and I wanted to give everyone a heads that minor site design updates have just launched. Most of the changes will not be visible; these tweaks go along with recent updates that were made to Stack Overflow: We are moving the site's CSS to a newly refactored LE...

16 issues for them to fix! LOL

yo'
@PauloCereda yeah, and some of them are more reports in one

@yo' indeed.

6:46 PM
Sit in front of the TV, watching PSG vs. Barça. :)
Highlights here.
Bah boring game. :)
I want to give bounties on meta!

@PauloCereda you should have watched cricket

@DavidCarlisle I don't have any BBC channel in here. :(

!!/cricket

I have CNN. Ugh.
@PaulGessler Oh Psmith is in cambridge. I'm in satyagraha now. :)

@PauloCereda C ricket N ews N etwork?

6:53 PM
@DavidCarlisle I wish. :)

@PauloCereda ok. :) I figured it was worth a shot since you said you were at a TV, which I presumed meant at home.

@PaulGessler Someday I will have a big TV in my office too. :)
@David: on a more serious question: is cricket broadcasted on TV?
Porto 2 x 0 Bayern München.

@PauloCereda yes and big match on the internet now: bbc.co.uk/sport/live/cricket/32042918

@DavidCarlisle I want BBC. :(

@PauloCereda I heard it stands for Blokes Broadcasting Cricket

6:59 PM
@PaulGessler ooh <3
Messi hit the post!
oooooh close

@PaulGessler I've seen this, yeah :D

You are almost the father of Latex Mr. Carlisle. I am so honoured to receive this very illustrative and educational answer from you. — user35555 Feb 8 at 18:55
@PaulGessler ^^
GOOOOAAAAAL
Neymar! PSG 0 vs. 1 Barça.

@PaulGessler I didn't remember the code even when I downloaded it, although I recognise the coding style, so I guess I must have done it...

7:06 PM
Tiago Silva left the field, injured.

yo'
@PauloCereda who? what?

@yo' The defender from PSG. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda from what? :)

@yo' Paris Saint-Germain. :)
Some team from South Africa, I guess. :P
Porto 2 vs. 1 Bayern München.

yo'
@PauloCereda and that is? Ah it's football!

7:15 PM
@yo' Das Football. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda Das Fußball

@yo' ooh

Hey everyone!

@Nickolas Hi!

yo'
@UlrikeFischer Hello there!

7:30 PM
@UlrikeFischer: Hi!
End of first half.

The new profile page is life.
                                                              Silence

yo'
@StefanKottwitz Indeed.

@yo' That word is another kind of silence. :-)

7:46 PM
Fernando de Noronha is also on Google Street View: g.co/noronha

yo'
@PauloCereda We scared her.

@yo' Oh no!

35 - for 2 wickets (15.0 overs) :(

@DavidCarlisle England are leading by 139 runs. Isn't this good?

@PauloCereda no:)

7:58 PM
@DavidCarlisle I definitely don't get this. :)

@DavidCarlisle You are popular :-)

@PauloCereda It's not like football where both sides score at same time, it's like snooker or badminton etc where you take it in turns to score, england were first in so they are first to score, that means you expect to lead but you need to lead by more than you expect the other team to get....

@DavidCarlisle ooh

@JosephWright not on xetex list:-)

yo'
@DavidCarlisle I lol'd

8:09 PM
@JosephWright I guess I've pushed as hard as I can on tex-xet, unless I'm going to study the web sources and suggest a patch that implements a brilliant plan, I guess backing down is the next course of action....

@DavidCarlisle Change pdfTeX?

GOOOAAAAAAAL!

@JosephWright no, it's not just incompatibility it's loss of functionality so I don't see inflicting same on pdftex really helps

PSG 0 vs. 2 Barça. Suárez.

@PauloCereda Did he bite somebody?

8:11 PM
@egreg His mouth was apparently closed. :)
No Italians were harmed in the making of this goal. :)

@PauloCereda Yes, the goalie of PSG, I guess.
@PauloCereda PSG has more Brazilians than Barcelona.

@DavidCarlisle No, also relies on DVI changes so really is out

@egreg Ah indeed, Sirigu. He is Italian. :)
@egreg David, Tiago and Lucas, I guess. Barça has Neymar, Dani Alves... is Adriano still there?

@PauloCereda I can't follow Brazilian players around the world, there are too many.

@egreg Neither can I. :)
Wait, PSG has Marquinhos and Maxwell as well! Wow!
And Thiago Motta, if we considered he's Italian and Brazilian. :)

8:15 PM
@JosephWright yes I was going to add you'd have to run ivddvi before using any dvi driver

@DavidCarlisle By the way, today I discouraged a user who had advertised one of your packages: pslatex.

GOOOAL!
@egreg: guess who? :)

@egreg quite right

@PauloCereda Messi?

@egreg Suárez. Nice goal!

8:24 PM
@PauloCereda 35 for 2 isn't good, 52 - for 3 is worse :(

@PauloCereda Think to poor Thiago Silva.

@DavidCarlisle Oh no!
@egreg Actually, David Luiz. Thiago left the field in the first half, injured.
PSG 1 vs. 3 Barça.
@egreg: very nice game so far. :)

@PauloCereda I was referring to that.

@egreg oh sorry. :)

Q: Link to article using a 'download' or 'view online' symbol?

aaragonI would like to have a way for people to download an article from my document, and I thought of adding an hyperlink to the title of the article as follows: But I guess it could be done in a better way, so I thought I could do the same and add a 'download' button or something at the end of the ...

Remember this one? :-)
@JosephWright It is a bit sad to notice, that the question was deleted here and our comments lost. :-(
Can we somehow undelete and merge with UX.SX?

8:53 PM
@Johannes_B good idea. Unfortunately it was deleted by the OP himself after it was closed (not by auto-deletion or other means). I'm unsure if @JosephWright can bring it back in that case.

@PaulGessler Was it closed off-topic?

@Johannes_B yes.

@PaulGessler The OP might not know how migrating works. To be honest, i don't really do.

@Johannes_B me either. SE black magic. :-D

yo'
@Johannes_B do we want to bring him here to the chat?

8:57 PM
@yo' To do what?

yo'
@Johannes_B to ask him if he can get the link to the Q?

yo'
ah ok
@Johannes_B well, it doesn't seem relevant to tex.sx. He asked it on two different sites and got closed on both, one of them by migration

@yo' On Academia because we led him there. Here, the Q was clearly OT as far as i can remember.

yo'
@Johannes_B @Paul: Migration has couple simple rules: (1) When you migrate a question, it's also closed as off-topic. (2) When a site receives a migrated question and closes it (not sure if all reasons do this), this question is re-opened on the original site (so-called rejected migration). (3) You can't migrate old questions and you shouldn't migrate into beta sites.
It's always better to flag for moderation attention and request migration than to delete the Q and ask it elsewhere.

@yo' Seconded.
@yo' Can mods migrate to every site? Or just the five or so quick List items?

yo'
@Johannes_B every site, I think including beta sites. You just can't include them in the list available to all 3k+ users

@yo' Ah, ok. Thanks
@yo' btw, guess what i found in the TeX section of our library?

yo'
@Johannes_B TeXbook naruby?

@Johannes_B A user?

@yo' Actually, yes. :-) But i also saw this:
The vi manual

@Johannes_B oh

@StefanKottwitz We also have a book about excel in the LaTeX section.

@Johannes_B They collect old things there? ;-)
@Johannes_B Students sometimes hide precious books in another section so nobody else can take it away

@StefanKottwitz Quite. One book is about LaTeX from 1993 and a lot of it got obsolete thanks to @DavidCarlisle and @FrankMittelbach :-)

yo'
@Johannes_B they're always the guilty.

@Johannes_B A rubber duck? :)

@Johannes_B If they can squeeze in past all the Brazilian software developers taking up the space

@DavidCarlisle I was sitting there on monday, @Paulo would have needed an extra chair. Or sit on one of the little chairs ;-)

Here is a crazy idea: If PDFs knew what unit things were, so I could hit a button and convert them to the units I work in. So I could move from cm^-1 to nm or eV as needed without doing them one by one.

@Canageek Isn't that what vector graphics are?

@FaheemMitha no I think he means the text of equations
