how do - do \bibresources have to be an absolute path?

I tried \addbibresource{../bibSection/projectbib.bib} and it didn't seem to work, though \addbibresource{/home/vco/project/bibSection/projectbib.bib} did, but I'm curious

Actually, this question has quite likely been raised on the site, and likely closed.

I.e. how many TeX users there are.

Of course, the term TeX user is ill-defined. That in itself is enough to kill the question.
