10:28 PM
@egreg I'll get my gun. This time is personal. :)
!!/choose emacs, vim
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: emacs vim

!!/eightball O Very Powerful Oracle, is putting equation numbers in the outer margin in line with good typography?

@egreg Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

@PauloCereda I take this as a no. :)

o.O
@egreg Fixed. :)

@PauloCereda Of course the Great Oracle was talking by paradox! No Great Oracle spends his time around bikinis.

10:31 PM
@egreg Ah good point. :)

Great Oracles have more important things to do. :)

@PauloCereda I believe it is a crime to alter the great oracle's pronouncements

!!/eightball Should we punish those who do not follow good typography? :)
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: yes. I like bikinis.
@DavidCarlisle <3

!/eightball Should we punish those who use vim?

10:33 PM
@DavidCarlisle Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: without a doubt.
Hey!
@DavidCarlisle Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: concentrate and ask again.
!!/eightball should I replace your prediction algorithm?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: how about reading source2e?
!!/cricket
Psmith, the TeX bot, in fixed font mode: Let's take a look at the last cricket results:

- Mid West Rhinos v Mashonaland Eagles
- Chittagong Kings v Rangpur Riders
- Dhaka Gladiators v Duronto Rajshahi
- South Africa v New Zealand

Our cricket expert David might explain these results later on.
!!/fencing
Psmith, the TeX bot, in fixed font mode: Let's take a look at the last fencing results:

- Oh dear, nothing happened so far.

Our fencing expert Alan might explain these results later on.
Langweilig.
Nothing happens at fencing world.

!!/eightball Psmith, are you a wrapper around ELIZA running in emacs?

@Aditya Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: you need to use emacs.

Ok, I give up :(

@Aditya You can't argue with an oracle

@DavidCarlisle Oracle brought us the who Java debacle. I don't trust any oracle.

10:47 PM
!!/eightball Are you biased?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: how about reading source2e?
!!/eightball C'mon, are you biased?!
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: concentrate and ask again.
!!/eightball ARE YOU BIASED?!
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: cannot predict now.
Hey, I'm getting angry.
!!/eightball Psmith, are you biased?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: very doubtful.

Lets try the other way around
!//eightball Psmith, are you honest?

two !!

!!/eightball Psmith, are you honest?

@Aditya Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: as I see it, yes.

!!/eightball are you a fake oracle constructed by @PauloCereda out of JavaScript and glue?

10:50 PM
@DavidCarlisle Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: better not tell you now.

I love this bot.
!!/eightball Do you love us?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: yes, definitely.

!!/eightball Psmith, what is the meaning of life, universe, and everything?

@Aditya Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: my reply is no.
!!/eightball Have you ever tried vim?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: it is certain.
!!/eightball and you liked it, right?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: outlook not so good.
Hey!

At least he is consistent.

10:52 PM
Oh the irony, Psmith's code is now opened in one of my vim buffers. :P
!!/eightball are you consistent?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: don't count on it.

What was the syntax for asking Psmith to choosing between multiple alternatives?

@Aditya It's !!/choose opt1, opt2, ..., optn :)

!!/choose emacs, notepad

@Aditya Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: emacs
I'm starting to think @DavidCarlisle can mess with the randomness of the universe.

!!/choose emacs, vi

10:55 PM
@Aditya Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: emacs

@PauloCereda: run grep emacs inside the source code of Psmith.

!!/choose emacs, vim
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: I'm deeply sorry, old chap, but the command chooses does not exist. Did you mean: choose
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: emacs
Hey!
!!/choose emacs, vim
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: vim
Finally.

I was beginning to think that the code had something like if list.contains("emacs") { return "emacs" } else { return list[random(list,length)] }

@Aditya I was tempted to write something like that. :)
!!/choose emacs, vim
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: emacs vim, of course

@PauloCereda replace list.contains("emacs") by true

10:59 PM
!!/eightball Should I change your code?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: lalalala can't hear you now lalalala
Hey!

@PauloCereda There is no need for violence. Just tell me why this style is so bad.

@Audrey Psmith needs some code rewriting. :)
!!/eightball Am I right?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: without a doubt.
:)

@PauloCereda I don't mind the jokes about guns and hammers. I'm just interested in learning why the layout would make a reader angry.

11:25 PM
@Audrey Hm? I'm not following.

@Audrey Equation numbers are not like marginal notes. Readers look for them in the same place, independently of being on an odd or even page. The are part of the equation, I should say, while marginal notes aren't.
@Audrey Moreover, too much symmetry is not good. Some asymmetry helps in keeping the pages alive.
