Is nvidia-driver-470 even available for 16.04? I think that this answer is bad.
deleted it
I wonder if there're any posts similar to the question

@Zanna Thanks!
thanks for spotting it :)

@Kulfy I don't think that this question is an exact duplicate of this one, as the latter does not answer why. vanadium's answer, that it's up to apt to interpret the arguments, answers exactly.

@BeastOfCaerbannog Looks like it's deleted.
@BeastOfCaerbannog the question is gone.. the OP deleted it..

This answer got 5 Recommend Deletion votes and 2 Looks OK votes (1 mine) and the review was completed without the answer being deleted. While I obviously think that it shouldn't be deleted (it would be good if it was a bit expanded of course, but it's an acceptable answer), isn't it a bit unfair considering the votes that it got?
Also the canned comments from the review are wrongly used.
"This does not provide an answer to the question. To critique or request clarification from an author, leave a comment below their post." - It actually is an answer to the question and it's written by the OP of the question. What clarification should they request?
"Please use the edit link on your question to add additional information. The Post Answer button should be used only for complete answers to the question." - Again, it is an answer and actually asking the OP to edit their question to add the answer there is worse than having a relatively bad answer.

: bad tag. Should be removed.
@BeastOfCaerbannog if that happens we get an automatic "disputed low quality post review" flag
sure enough there is one
@RandomPerson Perhaps you should explicitly explain how to download the .deb installer in step 2 of method 1 in your Microsoft Edge on Linux, for users that are not familiar with the package files Ubuntu uses. (Also see the dupe I linked above).
@Zanna That's good!
yeah :)
So the review is actually completed after you handle the flag?
@BeastOfCaerbannog I wonder if that answer would be better as an edit to the question... not really a solution is it?
17:51
@BeastOfCaerbannog hmm.. did you see step 1? I mentioned the debian link to avoid confusion..
@RandomPerson Yeah, but that's the link that the OP of the dupe supposedly used.
@BeastOfCaerbannog hmm. I just now tried and it opens for debian file.
Please check.
@BeastOfCaerbannog the review is already completed... Community ♦ just raises a flag after that
@Zanna Hmmm. Maybe you're right, and so would be the second review comment. But what if the OP considers it a solution (at least a temporary one)?
@RandomPerson I did try that, but the OP somehow downloaded the wrong file. Well, I suppose it wouldn't harm even if you don't do anything. it was just a suggestion. :)
@BeastOfCaerbannog Ok.. I'll try to make it make it more specific.
17:57
@BeastOfCaerbannog we can ask them about it I guess
@RandomPerson Only if you want to and feel it's a useful addition! Not because I suggested that! No pressure.
Actually, if I make changes, the step will become lengthy.. The link is only supposed to show .deb file.
Can you please give a curl command to the OP to make things easier for them?
Is this correct:
@RandomPerson Here is a wget one:
wget https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge/pool/main/m/microsoft-edge-beta/microsoft-edge-beta_93.0.961.27-1_amd64.deb
It's for the latest version.
18:03
I changed the link for the very same reason (to avoid downloading packages of other OS) in revision 3 askubuntu.com/posts/1346117/revisions
@RandomPerson curl is not installed by default, so wget should be preferred in such a case.
@BeastOfCaerbannog Ok..
@BeastOfCaerbannog how did you find the link?
@RandomPerson This link has the problem that is dynamic, i.e. it changes for different versions, and I don't think that it's possible (in a relatively simple way at least) for curl or wget to download from it.
@RandomPerson Just a moment.
@BeastOfCaerbannog oh.. OK.

@Feeds WHAT??
@Zanna Really?
@BeastOfCaerbannog You deserve it :)
@BeastOfCaerbannog is it okay with you?
@Zanna Of course! I really appreciate it!! Thank you very much!
@RandomPerson Thank you!!
@BeastOfCaerbannog I thought you used this website: urlex.org and pasted the link go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2149139
@BeastOfCaerbannog You're welcome :)
@BeastOfCaerbannog thank you for taking care of the room and much other great stuff :D
18:10
@Zanna :D
goodnight from here :) \o
Good night!
@Zanna Good night!
@RandomPerson I was not familiar with the website.
@BeastOfCaerbannog Can we decide where the file can be saved?
@BeastOfCaerbannog ok..
@RandomPerson Yes. You can use the -O flag for that with the path and the filename you want.
18:15
@BeastOfCaerbannog oh.. can you give me an example?
wget https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge/pool/main/m/microsoft-edge-beta/microsoft-edge-beta_93.0.961.27-1_amd64.deb -O /path/to/debfile.deb
@RandomPerson I was just doing that!
Is it mandatory to name the file while mentioning location?
Yes. The command won't run otherwise.
Let me see if there is a way to keep the original filename.
@BeastOfCaerbannog ok..
@RandomPerson So, you can use the -P flag to only set the directory for the saved file without specifying the filename.
wget https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge/pool/main/m/microsoft-edge-beta/microsoft-edge-beta_93.0.961.27-1_amd64.deb -P /path/to/directory
18:26
Cool.. so what will the directory for downloads?
/username/home/Downloads?
~/Downloads
@BeastOfCaerbannog you missed writing "p"
fine :)
So is this the command?
18:31
OK.. I request you to inform this command to the OP through comments..
Hahaha! Why don't you add it?
@BeastOfCaerbannog You were the one who said the command. Not me. So credit should go to you :)
It's fine by me. I don't want credits. :)
Try this command: wget https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge/pool/main/m/micros‌oft-edge-beta/micros‌oft-edge-beta_93.0.9‌61.27-1_amd64.deb -P ~/Downloads. The .deb file will be downloaded in your Downloads folder after the command runs successfullu. Credits to BeastOfCaerbannogRandom Person 1 min ago
Really, it would be fine even without crediting me!
18:39
It's OK!
@RandomPerson Typo 🤦🏽‍♂️
Hahah! Don't worry. No one will notice.
I deleted and re-posted the comment.
I just now opened VirtualBox and ran the command in Ubuntu 18.04. It worked perfectly :)
"Unattended-upgrade in progress during shutdown, please don't turn off the computer"
In the VBox?
18:52
yup
it just now completed
