Yeah it really seems like the local server was blocking access to Ubuntu's archive... The problem disappeared fortunately — Moustafa Essam 9 mins ago

sorry, I got there from reviewing the answer in LQP

OP wants Ubuntu ISO for Mac hardware, but because of the current OS, OP is getting Ubuntu ISO for Windows hardware.
Maybe it's different, but if it is not like ^, then it's getting closed.

@Zanna maybe a "How can I find out if Ubuntu will work on my hardware?", with the main answer being "boot a live USB" , and the supporting answer being how you can lookup supported devices for various common drivers (wireless, Bluetooth, ethernet, graphics, touchpad, fingerprint reader, etc.) - broad strokes. — muru 2 hours ago

@jokerdino aren't you playing hats this year?

I'm going to post one Q&A like that now
See if you all can work it into something usable.

@muru awesome!

@Zanna haven't looked into it

Q: Will my device work with Ubuntu?

muruI have a device on which I would like to install Ubuntu. How do I find out if Ubuntu will work on it?

4:51 PM
@muru there's a hat for doing this hahaha
thanks a lot!

I haven't done a thing and I have 2 hats now.

@jokerdino make it community wiki if you can.

I can!
Done, thanks.

Thanks!

@jokerdino everyone got a hat, because between us we all got 20 unique hats
the other one you may have got by casting a close vote, apparently

4:55 PM
I did a sekrit thing.

haha thanks for telling!
hmm what should I do to my meta post now?

Lets see if anyone else comes up with good ideas

yes... but maybe I should put in a link to it

I vaguely remember we having a similar post to that before.

Q: Which computers are guaranteed to work?

David SiegelBefore I buy my next laptop, I'd like to make sure that it will work perfectly with Ubuntu. Is there a list of completely supported computers anywhere?

?

yeah, we actually seem to have a similar kind of questions
https://askubuntu.com/questions/389176/is-there-database-of-linux-compatible-hardware
https://askubuntu.com/questions/430551/is-ubuntu-compatible-with-my-hardware
None of them are comprehensive though, so it would be nice to have one.

we could dupe them all to the shiny new one :D
