should this question be closed as too broad or maybe a dupe of that one?

@Zanna I've voted to close it as too broad. I don't agree with closing questions where someone is asking about specific hardware that they don't have (and don't have the ability to test with) as a duplicate of Will my device work with Ubuntu?
This may or may not be such a case (it's a specific machine the OP is envisioning, but the question is about multiple components) but still, the answer is not likely to help them much.

@Kulfy That's still an answer. I don't think that post qualifies as NAA even on Ask Ubuntu, but please note that Ask Ubuntu has an unusually broad view of NAA, which goes beyond what is reportable or tp-able to Natty.

@Natty fp - It identifies the kernel it is recommending using, even without the links. But it would benefit from expansion.

@EliahKagan yeah, it doesn't seem right
to close specific questions as a dupe of that
but I was not sure if that was what people had decided should be done

Well, besides the answer being about testing on hardware one already has, the question is:
> I have a device on which I would like to install Ubuntu. How do I find out if Ubuntu will work on it?

yeah

looking at revision 2 here, it seems this is a single file? But the current formatting makes it look like two

Revision 2 is what separated it into two code blocks. Was that wrong?

I don't know - I can't see any reason why it should be two blocks. I mean I assume this is a sample from the file, not two separate samples or two separate files
maybe I am wrong

When I approved the edit that split the code block, I assumed it was from two different parts of the file, such that there may be data in the file between those stanzas. However, if there is no evidence to support this, then it should be edited again, or the OP asked, or both.

the edit seems to have adjusted the indentation too

Oh.
It was a mistake for me to approve it then.

I guess these things wouldn't make a difference to the answer though

This was the original:
Uh, that is not working...
Oh.
Right, when I copy from plain text in Firefox I get extra newlines and I have no idea why.
Oh. It's because it's not plain text, even though it's formatted like it.
It actually has the newlines, even though what the OP entered did not.
How do I get the actual plain text of a post?

idk :(

Clicking Edit from the revision history and copying from the editing textarea worked. (That doesn't work for everyone on all posts, though, since for example low-rep users can't suggest edits on posts that have pending edit suggestions.)

nice workaround :)

Thanks.
So, as far as I can tell, the only change in formatting is that the first UOWLOGDA line is intended by one additional space.

@EliahKagan Gotcha.
(unrelated) seems dupe
unclear or a dupe of How do I resolve unmet dependencies after adding a PPA? since from the error message, OP seems to have some PPA configured.

@EliahKagan personally, I enjoy Smoke Detector's ghostly er non-presence in this room and replying to reports without causing anything to automatically happen. I think the room would be a lot more about Smoke Detector if it were really here and I don't really want that, I also consider it a good thing that I have to go to Charcoal HQ to actually interact with Smoke Detector (because it's fun to go there)

@Zanna Another possible reason not to have Smoke Detector accept commands here is that, for this room, Smokey is set to delete reports if the reported post is deleted (for any reason) before the chat-message editing window expires. If we are to keep it doing that, then we possibly don't want to encourage more extensive interaction with Smokey here, since that interaction would sometimes be based in incomplete information.
I am not sure if the bot should join the room and accept commands or not. I have no objection to things continuing as they've been.

sometimes I even delete the messages if they don't get self-deleted, if they are unambiguously evil spam, and if the spam is already gone
I might be persuaded to change my mind, and others may want a change, but I felt like registering my thoughts

unclear, most probably not an Ubuntu or Telegram problem per se, perhaps the ISP is blocking the connection. But no response from the OP.
