Keshav SrinivasanAs you can see in the Rig Veda Anukramani in my answer here, the sage who heard Rig Veda Book 5 Hymn 6 one from the gods is Shyavashva Atreya. Here is what the hymn says in part: 1 O heroes lordliest of all, who are ye that have singly come Forth from a region most remote? ... 5 May sh...

Q: Is it true that Sri Krishna's flute still hidden somewhere in India?

sssAfter the death of Sri Krishna, what happed to his belongings? I heard somewhere that his flute is still hidden in some secret place in India. Is it true?

Even I heard about it somewhere (long ago), but when and where I don't remember anything.
17:20
@KrishnShweta probably will not get any answer , I think , I never heard anything like this before :) May be its true May be a Myth
Haha.... yeah, 1 more unanswered question.
1 doubt...
We see some pravachan in TV channels right, So can we use them to answer any question?
@SwiftPushkar Narmada River is mentioned in skanda purana
I will post answer tomorrow if possible.
@KrishnShweta No I think , as we cant refer from TV , I mean cant actually present the facts from that media here directly so .. but i think we can ask questions about TV Shows.
@TheDestroyer grt. yes Take your time :)
17:29
@SwiftPushkar that page says it is also mentioned in Vayu Purana
@SwiftPushkar I see....
@TheDestroyer Yes , seen that :)
@SwiftPushkar ok. :)
@TheDestroyer Mostly associeated with mahadeva I think
@SwiftPushkar i think so. I don't remember now. I had a glance.
17:32
@TheDestroyer I have created two tags 1) narmada 2) rivers so how can I approve them /
@TheDestroyer Narmada is originated from Shiva accoring to it
*according
@SwiftPushkar i think those above 1500 can approve edits
@SwiftPushkar yeah.
@TheDestroyer ok
@SwiftPushkar I don't see any pending tag edits from you.
@TheDestroyer So did you see the question I posted related to Vaikhanasa beliefs about "Garbha Vaishnavas"?
@SwiftPushkar and I can't see edits from mobile :p
@TheDestroyer no , i will check it out
@KeshavSrinivasan ok
17:46
@KeshavSrinivasan yeah. Saw your question.
@KeshavSrinivasan interesting indeed. Do you have any other versions of Bhagavatam other than Isckon?
@TheDestroyer No, I'm not sure whether the Srimad Bhagavatam has multiple recensions or not. Many other Puranas have multiple recensions. Like the Skanda Purana has a Southern recension which is the basis of a lot of the stories related to Muruga's Aaru Padai Veedu.
@KeshavSrinivasan ok. But that German site has that.
@TheDestroyer What German site?
@KeshavSrinivasan sorry. It isn't bhagavatam. The site from which you got the verse.
@TheDestroyer Oh ok, yeah, that textfile I linked to is just a work by the Vaikhanasa Acharya Srinivasa Dikshitar which quotes two supposed verses from the Srimad Bhagavatam.
@TheDestroyer By the way, I hope Srinivasa Dikshitar isn't like Madhvacharya. Almost all the scriptural quotes given by Madhvacharya are untraceable, so a lot of scholars have suggested that he just made up quotes.
@TheDestroyer Srinivasa Dikshitar was the chief priest of the Tirupati temple in the 13th century, so hopefully he had good morals.
18:02
@KeshavSrinivasan @TheDestroyer - i have Geeta press hard copy of shree Bhagvat puran with me( recently purchased) so if you need any shloka or any thing for verification purpose from just give me hint , I will try to verify it.
@KeshavSrinivasan i don't know it looks like I'm familiar with Srinivasa deekshutulu or dikshitar. I think their family maintains Venkateswara Temple.
from geeta press version
@TheDestroyer Yeah, I think the the same Vaikhanasa family maintains the Tirupati temple generation after generation. Because of the "Garbha Vaishnava" doctrine it's impossible to convert into the Vaikhanasa sect, so as a result the priesthood of Vaikhanasa temples is generally hereditary.
@KeshavSrinivasan @TheDestroyer @KrishnShweta bye good day / good night , will see u tomorrow :)
@SwiftPushkar Haha, good day for me, good night for you :-)
18:11
@KeshavSrinivasan i read that German thing in English. It gives info about Daśavidhahetunirūpaṇa from which that verse is taken.
@SwiftPushkar Night!!!
@SwiftPushkar good night.
@KeshavSrinivasan Daśavidhahetunirūpaṇa is rare book and can only found in Sanskrit and telugu and too in very few libraries. So, only scanned version is available on that site.
@TheDestroyer Oh, you put it into Google Translate? Does it say what the Dashavidhahetunirupana is about?
@KeshavSrinivasan yeah.
@TheDestroyer I was just referred to this Bhagavatam quote by page 130 of this book: books.google.com/… So I don't know what the subject matter of the work is.
@TheDestroyer Based on what I can make of the Sanskrit, I think it's probably a commentary on the Vaikhanasa Shrauta Sutras or Vaikhanasa Smartha Sutras.
18:20
@KeshavSrinivasan i think Daśavidhahetunirūpaṇa is important Scripture for Vaikhasana rituals.
@KeshavSrinivasan and I accidentally found this . May be useful to you.
18:56
@TheDestroyer Thanks, it is useful. And it also answers what Srinivasa Dikshitar's Dashavidhahetunirupana is about; it says "Dasavidhahetunirupana [part of the Vaikhanasasutratatparyacintamani] (input by Ute Hüsken)".
19:53
@TheDestroyer So I was right, it is part of a commentary on the Vaikhanasa Shrauta Sutras or Vaikhanasas Smartha Sutras.
@TheDestroyer But yes, those Sutra texts give instructions on how to do Vaikhanasa rituals. They are texts that are associated with the Vaikhanasa Shakha of the Krishna Yajur Veda, which I discuss here:
4
Q: Do any non-Vaishnava Agamas trace their origins to a Vedic Shakha?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this answer, Hindu scripture is made up of two categories, Shruti or that which is heard from the gods, and Smriti or that which is composed by humans authors and passed down from teacher to student via oral tradition. It's well-known that Smriti encompasses many different catego...

@TheDestroyer By the way, you can read the Vaikhanasa Shrauta Sutras, Vaikhanasa Smartha Sutras, and Vaikhanasa Dharma Sutras in English here: gdurl.com/dQOe/download
