Q: Can Shaivaites or Devotees of Shiva eat meat?

The DestroyerI have seen animals sacrificing for Kali mata. I am not brahmin by birth but had developed interest towards Lord Siva. I read Shiva Purana but there were no references of diet of Shiva. Did Shiva eat meat? I have read story of Bhaktha kannappa. Can Shaivaites eat meat? NOTE: Vaishnavaites and f...

@TheDestroyer Is the note needed even today?
@KrishnShweta The avatar is different for ChinmayaB AKA Yogi (on our site).

3:22 AM
@SreeCharan haha. I will answer that question soon. It was asked during my initial days on this site.

@TheDestroyer where is it mentioned that "Rama ate Mamsa"?

@Pandya Valmiki Ramayana.. a question is there on site.

@TheDestroyer Do you mean:

Q: Was Lord Rama a non-vegetarian?

anon456I have always believed that Lord Rama was a vegetarian, but after reading certain blogs I found out that there might be certain verses in Ramayana (like the one below) which indicate quite the opposite. idaM medhyamidaM svaadu niSTaptamidamagninaa | evamaaste sa dharmaatmaa siitayaa saha r...

@AnkitSharma Laughed for a minute seeing the quoted text in your answer! Haha

@Pandya He was quoting Pratyaksha pramaana rather than sabda pramana. Ha Ha
This is circular reasoning. Q. Why do we use left hand for "unholy works"? A. Because we use right hand for "holy things" Q. Why do we use right hand for "holy works"? A. Because we use left hand for "unholy things". Nice. — tpb261 Jun 24 '14 at 9:42

@SreeCharan Haha
@SreeCharan Btw, instead of asking new question looking for scriptural reference, you can start bounty on the existing question.

@Pandya OK. I was not aware of the rules of the site then.

@ChinmayaB Do you want Sri Vaishnava or Gaudiya Vaishnava interpretation at here?
@SreeCharan no-problem.
@TheDestroyer Namaskaram!

@Pandya Namaskaram!

@TheDestroyer +1 for useful answer. Btw, You've mentioned that moderator may delete the featured question but moderator may also close the featured question instead.

I found your question about "shaivates eating meat" and "Gramadevatas" on that site first. @TheDestroyer

@Pandya Yeah. Thanks! Ok. I didn't mention it.
@SreeCharan Ok. For Grama Devatas, i found video of Samavedam Shanmuka Sharma.
I want a explicit reference mentioning them as Matrikas.

@TheDestroyer And according to this moderator have menu to remove or refund bounty.

5:39 AM
@Pandya ohh. Ok Feel free to edit or add new answer.

@TheDestroyer ok. I'll consider to improve your answer.

@Pandya Thanks!

What are your plans for Mahashivaratri? @TheDestroyer

@ChinmayaB I think you meant this?
Feb 11 at 16:52, by The Destroyer
I saw commentary of Vedanta Desikan. He cherrypicked Vedic verses.
@SreeCharan Rudram Chanting and Upavasa. Thinking to read Isha Upanishad during Nishita Kalam.
i mean starting Upanishads.

6:20 AM
@SreeCharan what about you?
@Tezz what are your plans for MahaShivaratri?

@TheDestroyer I do not have specific plans yet... what about you?..

@Tezz Upavasam and night out.
@Tezz Planning to read Isha Upanishad during Lingodbhava time.

@TheDestroyer Oh ok read...I'll make my plans latter...

@Tezz ok. Will you sleep after Lingodbhava?

@TheDestroyer what time is Maha Nishita Kaala?..

6:29 AM
@Tezz This year?

Yes . ..

23:51 to 24:41 ?...

@Pandya Nice edit.
@Tezz yes.

@TheDestroyer Oh ok...
Thanks...

6:34 AM
@Tezz wait. how it can change for India and Nepal? Nepal Timezone is 30 minutes ahead of India.
for me 23:55 to 24:45.

We've five days flair on Mahashivaratri at Bhavanath. You can visit junagadhinfo.com/bhavnathtemplejunagadh.php

I saw for texas, USA 24:07 to 24:57. For us, same time will be next afternoon. Ok. It will be decided on Moon.
@Pandya ok. Here Brahmotsavamas are celebrated for 15 days.

@TheDestroyer ok. Good!

@Tezz Technically, i can spend more time in Nishita Kaala by travelling across continents. Haha.
@Pandya what about Somnath?
@Pandya "Many Sadhu’s show the strength of their muscles and Sexual Organ’s power (e.g. by pulling a van tied to the penis etc.)" Is this true?

@TheDestroyer It is true upto "Many Sadhu’s show the strength of their muscles"
@TheDestroyer Somnath is a special attraction for worshipping Shiva at Mahashivaratri.

6:46 AM
@Pandya ok. But what's the use of showing muscle strength ?
@Pandya Yeah.

@TheDestroyer They used to show various Parakram with fire, sword etc.

@Pandya Btw, see this question.
2
Q: Does Somnath Temple ever had a direct gateway to heaven?

Abhishek KapoorDoes Somnath Temple had a direct gateway to heaven. I heard about this story in TV Serial Devon ke dev Mahadev. I want to know about the story and whether it is a written story or a folklore.

Haha

@Pandya Yeah. But why sadhus need to show Parakramam. how will it increase their Bhakti or spirituality?

@TheDestroyer Btw, it is very difficult to predict the right/true Sadhus among the tremendous.

6:52 AM
@Pandya ok.

@TheDestroyer I think they like to show his Yogic powers.

@Pandya You can read Nagara Khanda. you may find many places in Gujarat and maharastra border and their significance.
@Pandya ok.

@TheDestroyer Btw, Have you heard term "Ravedi"?

@Pandya No.
@Pandya Rishis is answering questions without references. I told him many times but still he is doing the same. If i say him again, he may think negatively about me.

though somnath temple and its history of multiple destruction is well known to people

not many are aware of "prabhas" shakti peeth at Veraval

7:00 AM
@TheDestroyer there is a Mrugi Kund in Bhavanath. All the Sadhus from various regions come at Junagadh/Bhavanath and during the mid night of Mahashivaratri, they walk through road specially arranged cleaned (from people) from them to Mrugi Kund and finally they do "Kund Snana" in Mrugi Kunda. It is believed that not all of them return from Kunda, some disappears as Mrugi Kunda has many caves inside.

@RakeshJoshi Yes. Many are not aware of Shakti Peeths. Shiva and Vishnu are famous across India. Now, Krishna is becoming more popular due to ISKCON.

@TheDestroyer It is also believed that among the tremendous no. of Sadhus, there is one (Bhagavan) Shiva himself comes to Mrugi Kund in the form of Sadhu at Mahashivaratri but no one can identify/recognise him among the Sadhus.

@Pandya Definitely, this Kunda must be mentioned in Skanda Purana.
The Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa (491 chapters) consists of four sections:[24][25]

Prabhāsakṣetramāhātmya (365 chapters, Saurashtra and Somanatha Tirtha region,[30] west India)
Vastrāpathakṣetramāhātmya (19 chapters, Girnar Tirtha region[30])
Arvuda Khaṇḍa (63 chapters, Aravalli Range Rajasthan Tirtha region[30]) and
Dvārakāmāhātmya (44 chapters, Dwarka Gujarat Tirtha region[30])
@Pandya ohh. this is really cool.

@TheDestroyer Yes, I'll consider to read Nagara Khanda of Skanda Purana.

@Pandya Similarly, Every Amavasya Lord Shiva comes to Srisilam and every Pournami, Parvati Devi comes there.
@Pandya Also, Prabhasa Kshetra Mahatmya.

7:07 AM
@TheDestroyer yes. Thanks for informing me I've not known Prabhash Kshetra mentioned in Skanda Purana! oh! that's really Khanda. Yes, Somanath is also known as Prabhash Patan.

every temple has such stories ...

@RakeshJoshi People well versed in Yoga can see Shiva. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa saw Shiva and Parvati at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi liberating people.
@Pandya It also mentions origins of name "Prabhasa" and many places in Gujarat.

Prabhas Patan, known popularly as Somnath Patan, historically named Dev Patan, is situated in Gujarat (Saurashtra), 7 km. from Veraval. This is a place of pilgrimage, or Tirtha, of the most popular Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, i.e., Somanath. According to tradition, here Krishna is supposed to have left a mortal body at the end of Krishna avatar (Avatars), enacting the drama of being killed by a hunter who mistook Krishna for a deer and shot him in his foot. == Story == As per the writing in Ramayana, Rama, i.e. Krishna in his earlier Rama Avatar (Avatars) is supposed to have given a boon to a monkey...

@Pandya Yeah. I know.

they dont need temples to see it . they can see inside them and everywhere. @TheDestroyer

7:10 AM
@TheDestroyer So, You've visited Somanath through Skanda Purana! Congratulation! Haha

@RakeshJoshi Yes. But we put some efforts for going to temples. So, effort is what God see.

@TheDestroyer New to know for me.

@Pandya I have visited Somnatha virtually (online Darshan) and through Skanda Purana. Haha.

@RakeshJoshi ??

7:12 AM
god will be more happy if we see "him" in living creatures than in stones. that is all saints have said unanimously

@TheDestroyer ok. Going for lunch; good-bye!

@Pandya Here is online Darshan of Somnath.
@RakeshJoshi They are not stones. They have God in them.

living creatures are to be considered first ..

7:37 AM
@SreeCharan Oh!! I don't know that ChinmayaB is user Yogi.... I've seen those two profiles but never noticed that they are same.
@RakeshJoshi Don't you visit temples?

8:02 AM
temples are ok but not higher than living beings

@TheDestroyer I think I'll sleep after Neeshita Kaala...

@Tezz ok.

@TheDestroyer haha travelling among continents...
@TheDestroyer and theoretically we may reach there by time travel... haha😀😀

@RakeshJoshi So you try to see God in living beings?
@Tezz Neeshita kaala?

@Tezz haha.

8:06 AM
yes everyone should try... if god is omnipresent then must be in living beings

@RakeshJoshi Advaita says the same. Atma is Paramatma.

midnight muhurta is called nisheetha kaala

@RakeshJoshi That's good.

and there is mahanisheetha kala
kali , bhairava, etc is worshiped this time

@KrishnShweta neeshita kaala is most important time in MahaShivaratri... It represents the time when Lingodhbhavam took place...

8:09 AM
@KrishnShweta Shiva appeared as Linga during that time. It is very important Muhurta during Mahasivaratri. It lasts for 49 minutes.

@TheDestroyer not only advaita everyone says it . but i dont this you have become advaitin or vedantin yet. because for mumukshu the acharana is different . as said by advaita acharyas.

@RakeshJoshi Mahanisheetha kala?
@Tezz @TheDestroyer Oh!! OK.....

@RakeshJoshi No. Visistaadvaita says Atma has super soul or Antaryami.

just some special muhurta of midnight .

its not related to lingodbhava but its considered in many festivals. in shivarati also this time is given special importance but there are other times as well.

this is 8th muhurta of the day.
@TheDestroyer so does VA teach not to see god/soul in living beings ?

@RakeshJoshi I think 8th muhurta of night....

8:13 AM
@RakeshJoshi My views are currently close to Advaita. I haven't read any Veda. So, i don't know if my views will remain same. But most of the my opinions won't change such as every God (or attributes) mentioned in Vedas are one and same.

even for diwali its used for kali pooja as well ..
@TheDestroyer how this supersoul etc is relevant here

@RakeshJoshi It says Atma is different from Paramatma.

i m not at all talking of paramatma. but even in VA atma is a amsha of paramatma . even then we have to try to see god in all souls .

@RakeshJoshi Advaitins say there is something in everything which doesn't change at all with times. Change is seen or perceived from something which doesn't change. That which doesn't change with time is God or Atma or Paramatma.

advaitins say that a mumukshu has nothing to do with ritualistic worship . pouring milk makes no sense to them.

even if atma is changing or non changing we have to try to see gods presence in all beings

its good to see in non living objects as well but living beings should not be ignored

8:18 AM
@RakeshJoshi Atma doesn't change. We can prove that statement "God is present in us" with logic.

this is not vedanta debate but about living beings and respecting them

@RakeshJoshi what do you think about the rituals of animal sacrifice in Vedas... ?...

whats there to think about it ?

@RakeshJoshi Yes. We shouldn't respect them because we should respect. We should respect them because they are manifestations of Gods or inreality they are also Gods. They also have Atma that doesn't change.

even if it changes still our respect should be there

8:22 AM
@RakeshJoshi I mean how do you intrepret it... you take it as subtle sacrifice or real sacrifice...?

@RakeshJoshi Ok. You follow it. I follow logic.

@TheDestroyer the less we talk of your logic the better it is :)
now your travelling in two boats that is ritualism and advata . this is dangerous (as you keep on saying usually ) :)
@Tezz its real . i said you unreal or illusion etc is found only in the dictionary of maayavadin.

@RakeshJoshi I can hurt your other filthy layers of your body. But i don't get anything doing that.

whose body

@RakeshJoshi haha lol... by subtle I mean taking inside body... ie. Yogic process...

8:26 AM
@RakeshJoshi Everyone feel they are alone correct. Such is the delusive power of Maya. We shouldn't waste time in indulging this nonsense.
@RakeshJoshi Manomaya Kosha.

@Tezz when you are doing vedic process then you have follow vedic ritual guide. if you are following yogas then yogic meaning should be taken
@TheDestroyer i can quote sankaras books to show that ritualism is NOT a lakshana of a REAL mumukshu

@RakeshJoshi also some Rishi intrepret the word 'Aja' as vegetable seeds and not Goats...

Who/what is mumukshu?

@KrishnShweta Mumukshu means desirer of salvation...

no thats not true . @Tezz there is also mention how many goats to be used and which part of the body to be used etc

8:29 AM
@RakeshJoshi But that doesn't mean we should stop ritualism. We should things which are appropriate.

@RakeshJoshi yes I know that .. but Mahabharata mentions it...

@Tezz MBH is not the text to refer for vedic rituals . instead refer the shrauta sutras

/desirer of knowledge

@RakeshJoshi A Grihatsya has many problems. He can't live without any rituals.

@Tezz Shukriya ;)

8:31 AM
@TheDestroyer is it mandatory for a grihastha to pour milk? you can do the minimum prescribed rituals . if you are vedantin then why to focus on rituals i.e poorva mimamsa as per you.

@RakeshJoshi Now a days, there are no strict Vedantins or Mimasamsakas. Poeple do what they require. These philosphies alone won't even show a single strand of hair of Supreme Brahman.

@RakeshJoshi yes, one should look at Shrauta sutras... btw the Mahabharta passage disscused is:
The Rishis said, The Vedic Sruti declares that in sacrifices the offerings should consist of (vegetable) seeds. Seeds are called Ajas. It behoveth you not to slay goats. Ye deities, that cannot be the religion of good and righteous people in which slaughter of animals is laid down. This, again, is the Krita age. How can animals be slaughtered in this epoch of righteousness?'

@TheDestroyer i m not talking of modern scholars but that of sankara. forcefully doing rituals is not good

It's from my this answer:
4
A: Did Lord Buddha really not believe in God and the Vedas? If so, why?

Tezz Did Lord Buddha really not believe in God? First of all among the Six Schools of Hinduism the schools like Vaisheshika founded by Maharshi Kanada, Samkhya founded by Maharshi Kapila etc.. do not believe in God. They are non-theistic schools which do not believe in God, but believe that Vedas...

@Tezz i think in mahabharata itself bhisma explains yudhi about doing shraddha of ancestors with meat ..

8:34 AM
@RakeshJoshi Who did rituals forcefully?

getting engaged in rituals means that one is not yet become mumukshu . there is not yet the dawn of atma jijnasa . not yet came to the advaita level

@RakeshJoshi exactly. You might know phases of life. Brahmacharya, Grihatsya,...

these does not matter to a an advaita vedantin . they just follow upanishad.
not concerned with ritualistic section of vedas

@RakeshJoshi While living in Vyavaharika, rituals are needed.

@TheDestroyer please take up sanyasa if you are having brahma jijnasa
so called

8:40 AM
@RakeshJoshi I'm actually planning for that.

ohh that is why i said forced rituals .
cos one if having a strong inclination for advaita of sankara is bound to denounce rituals . but for family reasons has to continue which is why i said forced
@Tezz i do not subscribe to sanyasa that is another matter :)

@RakeshJoshi Did Shankara say to denounce rituals while living in Vyavaharika? If yes, can you cite it.

@TheDestroyer @Tezz @RakeshJoshi - Namaskaram नमस्कारं 😊🌸🙏

without interest doing anything is fruitless na
@SwiftPushkar Good noon

@RakeshJoshi what interest and whose interest?
@SwiftPushkar Namaskaram!

8:44 AM
ur interest to take up sanyasa and give up ritual .

@RakeshJoshi Lol. Who said i have no interest?

then you are not yet advaitin

@RakeshJoshi Don't take Philosophies very seriously. They alone won't give you anything. I said my views are close to Advaita.

:)
good that you disagree to sankara in some ways

@RakeshJoshi I disagreed on what? on rituals?
I asked for his exact statement.

8:49 AM
@Tezz can help in exact statement

@RakeshJoshi Can you tell me where he said that? I will check. I don't think he meant to denounce rituals while living in Vyavharika. If rituals are unnecessary, Vedas shouldn't mention them. And i don't think Shankara disrespected Vedas or a portion of Vedas.

he already made it clear that rituals are antagostic to his vedanta

its only for materiaistic desires and heavens

that is why they do not perform vedic rituals .

@RakeshJoshi They perform Yajnas.

who ?

Many Peetams who subscribe to Vedanta or Advaita Vedanta.

8:56 AM
SANYASIN CAN NEVER PERFORM ANY YAJNa

@RakeshJoshi I have seen many such Vedanta Swamis near Yajnas. They may not perform personally but i think they give monetary support.

why are you talking of others who perform it ?
talk of vedantins , sanyasins
for them its prohibited

@SwiftPushkar Namaskaram🙏🙏🙏

But they are supporting Yajnas

by giving up themselves they want to support. good paradox :)

9:00 AM
@RakeshJoshi I'm not aware of any statement of Shankara which says one must denounce Rituals...

@RakeshJoshi What is Dharma of Sanyasi?

@Tezz because sankara mutts is not there in nepal.

the very fact when someone becomes sankara sanyasin is he is denouncing all vedic rituals . they cut off thread and shikha and give up everything . are you not aware of it ?

@RakeshJoshi I think even Aghoras and Naga Sadhus do that

@RakeshJoshi do you know Swami Chandrasekhara Saraswati?...

why to divert topic to aghoris
@Tezz i know him my place is 2 hours from that place but i think you do not know about rules of dashanami tradition.
not chandrashekhara but CHANDRASHEKHARENDRA

9:04 AM
@RakeshJoshi he did Varuna Yajna Parayanam to bring rain:...
9
A: What has Virāṭa Parva pārāyaṇa got to do with rains?

Keshav SrinivasanThis web page says that the chanting of the Virata Parva of the Mahabharata was once done by Chandrashekhara Bharati II, a former Sharankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt, in order to produce rain. And his explanation was that Vyasa had embedded a mantra to Varuna within the Virata Parva: The book ...

@TheDestroyer please explain him yaar... how can a man without sacred threads do yajnas?

He was a Shankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt...
@RakeshJoshi also don't you know that ChandraMouleshwara pooja is carried thrice a day in ALL SHANKARA MUTTS ?

not sringeri but kanchi mutt
you are saying all wrong info.

@RakeshJoshi I'm just saying not only Vedanta Sanyasis but many others are there who don't even follow one portion of vedas. Your concern should be about those who don't follow vedas.

9:07 AM
first understand mutts and their names then pontiff names @Tezz
@TheDestroyer why should i be concerned who are not following vedas?

"he Jagadguru propiatiates Lord Chandramouleeshwara as the vedas are chanted admidst rituals through the pooja."

@RakeshJoshi Because Vedas are base of our Dharma.

forget about yajnas a sanyasin can not lit even a lamp of his own @Tezz

@RakeshJoshi You are concerned so much about Ritualistic portion of vedas. But why no concern for vedas as whole?

i always take vedas as a whole. but since you subscribe to vedanta so i am saying what vedanta subscribes

9:11 AM
@RakeshJoshi for those who renounce worldly life self alone is the sacred thread... so they can do any Vedic rituals also...

@Tezz false statement. please dont give misleading facts.

@RakeshJoshi lol misleading facts... how can you call a Shruti statement false.. ?

cos sanyasins themselves say that they CANNOT PERFORM VEDIC RITES

@Tezz Is that from Jabala Upanishad which you said earlier?

@TheDestroyer yes..

9:14 AM
please quote the verse where it says they can do vedic rites as well

@RakeshJoshi see jabala Upanishad "V-1. Then the (sage) Atri asked Yajnavalkya: ‘May I ask you Yajnavalkya,
how is one without the sacred thread a Brahmana ?’ Yajnavalkya
replied: (‘The conviction I am the) Self alone is his sacred thread. He
shall then sip water (ceremoniously thrice). This is the method enjoined
on those who renounce worldly life."

@RakeshJoshi I never heard you criticising Non Vedic philosophers. You always criticized (sorry blamed) Shankara and Vedanta.

@Tezz this verse does not talk anything about performing the vedic rituals !!!
it just says self alone is sacred thread.

@RakeshJoshi Kanchi kamakoti peetham pontiff is also called Shankaracharya. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanchi_Kamakoti_Peetham

yes but he is saying chandrashekharendra is of sringeri
further also claiming that even sanyasin can perform vedic rites and yajnas

9:25 AM
19 mins ago, by Tezz
He was a Shankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt...

@SreeCharan oh I mistakely wrote it...

@Tezz No problem.

name also chandrashekharendra
it is main rules for sanyasin they cannot do fire ritual

Vaishna sanyasis have sacred thread. They do not remove while taking up sanyasa.

but STILL THEY DONT DO VEDIC RITES AND FIRE RITUALS

9:30 AM
Yes. They supervise the ritual. But the yaagakarta is different.

@SreeCharan Yes. I have seen this in TV news and newspapers.

then is it not misleading claim to say that a renunciate can do whatever rituals he wants even after sanyasa?

@RakeshJoshi what is your opinion about Aghoras?
Veera Shaivas?

my opinions are not going to matter you. i think you are now happy in traveling in two boats. but i prefer to have clarity whether how i want to proceed in spiritual path
the very dispute with mandana and sankara was due to ritualism and materialism .

@RakeshJoshi I said you already. Everyone thinks he is alone right. No wonder in it. It's Maya. And you say i'm travelling on two boats. You are blaming Vedanta for sake of blaming with pretext of neglecting ritualistic portion of Vedas and yet you have good opinion about Aghoras and non Vedic Philosophies.

9:34 AM
@RakeshJoshi even if some scriptures prohibit to do Vedic rituals after Sannyasa.. then that prohibition is only upto when he is realised... when he becomes realised no prohibitions work on him...
Shankara says "The commandments and prohibitions of scriptures are applicable to men in ignorance who live with the deep-rooted conviction that their body is their self."

the prohibition is until HIS PHYSICAL BODY DIES.

@RakeshJoshi
No karma touches to knower of Brahman even if he is with Physical body...

@Tezz please make related comments with rituals.
@TheDestroyer we should not become like jihadi exteremists . hindusim is not limited to vedas. there are many sects who do not accept vedas as supreme. yet they are hindus .
they are clear and honest in their approach that vedas is not final authority for them.

@RakeshJoshi related comments with rituals?..

how is karma toching or untouching is related here ?@Tezz
its about performing vedic rites.

9:39 AM
@RakeshJoshi it is related because... when a person is realised then he can do vedic rites.. (even if scriptures prohibit him).. ie. He doesn't occur any dosha in doing it...

sankara himself has laid rules for his dashanami sanyasins . please refer to it before making such statements
further, every sanyasin is not enlightned . i m talking here about sanyasins.

@RakeshJoshi i'm not against any specific philosophy be it Vedic or Agamic. But i doubt your concerns about Vedanta. If you are concerned for whole Vedas why you have no problems about people who follow meditative portion of VEdas? Why only Vedanta and blaming them?

i dont have problems with aghoris cos they never claim they are vedics ... but those who claim they have to follow vedas
meditation is not selective portion . its there in samhita, aranyaka , brahmana and upanishad all .
futther its present in every sect of hinduyism

@RakeshJoshi Vaishnavas don't give importance to it.

who said .
ask mr keshawan etc

9:44 AM
@RakeshJoshi You ask him and tell me what he says.

@TheDestroyer despite of knowing the rules of sanyasins and vedic rituals you are not making any statements on it. there should be more honesty .
where is he ?

@RakeshJoshi I don't know rules of Sanyasins and rules of Vedic rituals. So, i'm quiet.
@RakeshJoshi How do ritualists get Moksha?
@RakeshJoshi Keshav.

@TheDestroyer Srivaishnava propagator Ramanuja has commented on geeta . and we know geeta talks a majority potion on meditation. there are whole chapters dedicated to dhyana

10:45 AM
@Pandya I thought ISKON people have close philosophical relationship with Vishitadvaitins, but that is not true its only pancharatra rituals and Sharnagati. The Question was asked to know the reason behind seemingly advaitin commentary by Prabhupada.
@Pandya I expect clear Gaudiya meaning of adwayam, and if it is different from Advaita and Vishitadvaita then how and where is it different (atleast crisp points
(
)

11:17 AM
@ChinmayaB Yes, ISKCON belongs to Achintya Bhedabheda which is very different from Ramanujacharya's Vishishtadvaita. (see the overview of different Vedantic philosophies at here

@Pandya Devender Agarwal copied content from his blog
Pancha Bhoota Lingams.

@TheDestroyer Hmm... Yes, it sounds advertizing his blogs which he also mentioned in his profile (about section) page.

@Pandya how to deal this? He didn't explicitly cite his blog now.

Q: What to do when plagiarism is discovered

PëkkaHow should I act if I discover a user plagiarizing fellow users' posts? What if I find someone plagiarizing external resources without attribution? See also: Users are calling me a plagiarist. What do I do? Return to FAQ index

It sounds plagiarism from your blog. Avoid overt self promotion and take a look at expected and recommended referencesPandya 1 min ago

@Pandya just saw.

Avoid overt self promotion and try to insist on scriptural references. — Pandya 38 secs ago

@Pandya did you flag it?

@TheDestroyer not yet (he has clarified his blog as source in his answer).

@Pandya pancha bhoota linga answer not other one.

@TheDestroyer (also) not yet.

@Pandya ok. it got downvote. i thought you flagged it as spam.

@TheDestroyer I think the meta posts I've listed in this answer may help to deal with this.

@Pandya saw that and upvoted too.

@Pandya Okay thanks

@ChinmayaB You can refer alternative translation at CC Madhya 25.132.

@Pandya What is Madhya?

@ChinmayaB I've found three works at Chaitanya Charitamrita. One is Madhya Lila
@ChinmayaB Chaitanya Charitamrita is a biography on the teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu:
The Chaitanya Charitamrita is one of the primary biographies detailing the life and teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486–1533), a Vaisnava saint and founder of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya. It was written by Krishna Das Kaviraja (b. 1496), primarily in the Bengali language, but also including a great number of Sanskrit verses within its devotional, poetic construction, including Siksastakam . Intertwined with the stories of Caitanya Mahaprabhu's life are philosophical conversations detailing the process of Bhakti yoga, with special attention given to congregational chanting of Krishna...
@ChinmayaB You may be aware of that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the expounder of the Achintya Bhedabheda philosophy.

@Pandya Oh okay its Chaitanya Mahatmya, Yeah I know about Chaitanya Mahaprabhu he was from Bengal
My family follows en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sitaramdas_Omkarnath This Saint, and he in turn follows Krishna's words which are similar to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu
I think its is related to 1 lakh japa of Hare krishna Mahamantra
@Pandya

@ChinmayaB Ok. Btw, where do you live?

@Tezz @KeshavSrinivasan
@TheDestroyer Well, Swami Vivekananda would disagree with Tezz (see his Complete Works V3, p 457, lecture 'The Religion We are Born In'. Also Prof. Chandradhar Sharma (Banaras Hindu University and then Chair of Philosophy at University of Jabalpur) says: 'The word shruti primarily refers to the Truth or reality which is revealed and secondarily to the text in which this revelation is recorded. In the primary sense shruti is identical with the Real and as the Real is impersonal and eternal, so is sruti... — Swami Vishwananda 2 hours ago
@TheDestroyer ...In the secondary sense , of course, the text which records this spiritual experience is conditioned by time, space, and personality.' That which is conditioned by time, space, etc. is non-eternal. So in the primary sense they are eternal, but in the secondary sense they are not. — Swami Vishwananda 2 hours ago

@TheDestroyer wat up

@Tezz @KeshavSrinivasan this is what he says about Veda Samhitas.

@TheDestroyer I don't fully understand what Swamiji said...

@Tezz He says Shruti "text" (words) is influenced by time, space and personality (secondarily) but he says "Shruti" is impersonal and eternal (Primarily).

@TheDestroyer individual like Vivekananda cannot be taken as authority as shastra

3:24 PM
@TheDestroyer I don't think Veda Samhitas are influenced by space-time and will be changed... also they are in Sanskrit which is an eternal language..

somewhere i read that in his later days somewhere he mentioned that he is not enlightned . though i am not sure about the source.,

@Tezz But Sounds should be impersonal too. Representation of letters (Devangari) may be personal but sounds such as "Namaste astu Bhagavan Visweswaraya....." are eternal in words (hearing) too.

@TheDestroyer yes... Devanagari is a recent format.. but relation between word and meaning is considered eternal in Vedas.. It is discussed extensively in Jaiminis Mimamsa Sutras...

@Tezz what does those sutras say?
Samhitas must be same word wise at all times.

A: What is the validity of Authoritativeness of vedas?

TezzPurva Mimamsa School in it's Purva Mimamsa Sutras gives very logical arguments to prove Eternity of Vedas. Actually these Arguments can also be used against Nastika school who hold Vedas are not eternal. Quotes from Mahabharata, Ramayana, Puranas and other scripture to support Eternity of Vedas ...

@TheDestroyer the sutras establish eternity of words (/ideas) and then prove Vedas are eternal... some of the points I discuss in my answer here:
Haha lol... network problem... @TheDestroyer

3:33 PM
@Tezz i think i didn't read that answer completely. Will read now.

@TheDestroyer Ok... but I have skipped many important other arguments... I think I should update my answer soon...

@Tezz ok.

looks like people are busy here

@Tezz Do you know what is basis for Patanjali Yoga Sutras? Did he compose it after understanding Vedas?

Hi

3:46 PM
@TheDestroyer I'm not sure... The Sutras do not themselves mention anything about it...
@Seeker Hlw...

@Tezz ok. I think all such works should be composed from Vedas.

Swami Vivekananda supported Beef assumption.

@Tezz What about Jamini Mimamsa Sutras and Badarayana Vedanta Sutras?

@Seeker I have also heard that.. but where is it... do you know?..
@TheDestroyer these all philosophies try to explain Vedas in their own way... so I think the composer of these philosophies at least must have learned Vedas... and explained ..

3:50 PM
@Tezz Yes. And i think they may have Paraphrased content of lost Sakhas too.

And I read his commentary on Patanjali Yoga Sutra. He equated Dhyan or Yoga with concentration. I think he had experienced something non physical for sure though not completely enlightened.

@RakeshJoshi Thanks for that page...

There was a time in this very India when, without eating beef, ...
Said like this.

@TheDestroyer yes... about 1130 Shakhas are there... I also think the same...

@Tezz welcome @TheDestroyer what up :)

3:54 PM
@Tezz what are your opinions on OSHO?

@RakeshJoshi Brahman! 😜😀😀

I posted message i thought you were busy @TheDestroyer

@Seeker I don't know much about Osho... I feel he misinterpreted Vedic/Tantric literatures... what do you think..?

@RakeshJoshi which message?

Same @Tezz. I too think he was only colorful.
He preached pseudo spirituality. 😯

3:59 PM
@Seeker If any Guru gets populairity, automatically quality in content they preach is reduced. This is what i observed.
