@TheDestroyer I'm not aware of any curse by Durvasa to Saraswati...

@Tezz Btw, How about chronology of Shad Darshana?

@Pandya you mean chronology in this age (Chaturyuga)..?..

@Tezz Yes.

@Pandya I think it might be Samkhya... Kapila was born very earlier (I think)....

@KeshavSrinivasan I found two questions related to mathematics in our site: Did the science of mathematics begin with the Vedas? and Was value of pi really defined in a sloka?. I know that you've some experience of math.SE. So, How about promoting Hinduism.SE at Community Promotion Ads on meta of math.SE?

5:29 AM
Which kalpa storiees does the skanda purana say? @TheDestroyer @Deep @Keshav @Tezz

@TheDestroyer @Tezz @AnkitSharma @SreeCharan @SwiftPushkar Btw, I'm planning to delete ad on physics.SE and thinking to post another one which states 3-5 questions related. I've filtered some of the questions can possibly posted you can read the list here. Can you give your suggestion to choose/select 3-5 best of them what you think would work?
@AnkitSharma I think you've some experience with science fiction. How about Time travel in Hindu scripture?

@KeshavSrinivasan If you're agree then I can add that in meta post where you can post on community promotion ads on meta.math.SE.

@Pandya I have bad blood there. I avoid that site, you can try it there, will surely upvote.

6:10 AM
Speed of light, gravity in our scriptures @Pandya
@TejasweePokhrel Actually there are Vedic verses that refer to Indra as Ganapati. But yeah, I agree that the Ramcharitmanas is referring to Ganesha. In any case, the two main texts that describe the incarnations of Ganesha in different ages are the Ganesha Purana and the Mudgala Purana, but both of them are of dubious authenticity. — Keshav Srinivasan ♦ Apr 16 '16 at 12:39
Poorvashrama name of Swami Tejananda before Gnanoddaya. :D
@TheDestroyer From where did you get these details? Just asking. Brahmanda purana?

A: Why did Vyasa depict different Supreme Gods in different Puranas?

The DestroyerShiva Purana says that Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra (Trimurti) rivaled one another and they propitiated the Supreme Lord (their father) and they got a boon of creating others at outset of various Kalpas. So, in one Kalpa, Vishnu creates Rudra and Brahma and in another Kalpa Rudra creates Brahma and V...

@SreeCharan Matsya Purana says it.

@TheDestroyer OK

@SreeCharan Who is @deep? @Pandya

Yes.

7:12 AM
@SwiftPushkar Hey, I'm here only :)

7:40 AM
@ChinmayaB Om Namo Narayana ,Hii πŸ™‹,Yes it's really cute picture of Shree Krishns πŸ‘πŸ’Aabhar , Dhanyavad ,😊

Aditi ,the mother of the gods (devamatar) from whose cosmic matrix the heavenly bodies were born, is sometimes compared to a cow. As such she provides nourishment and as the cosmic cow, her milk is identified with the redemptive, invigorating drink Soma (Mandala 1.153.3).
As the womb of space she is a feminized form of Brahma. The line in the Rigveda, "Daksha sprang from Aditi and Aditi from Daksha" (Mandala 10.72.4) has reference to "the eternal cyclic re-birth of the same divine essence". Aditi is also called widely expanded (Mandala 5.46.6) and extensive, the mistress of wide stalls (Mandala 8.67.12).
She may be seen as a feminized form of Brahma and associated with the primal substance (mulaprakriti) in Vedanta. She is mentioned nearly 80 times in the Rigveda: the verse "Daksha sprang from Aditi and Aditi from Daksha" is seen by Theosophists as a reference to "the eternal cyclic re-birth of the same divine Essence" and divine wisdom.
In contrast, the Puranas, such as the Shiva Purana and the Bhagavata Purana, suggest that Aditi is wife of sage Kashyap and gave birth to the Adityas such as Indra, Surya, and also Vamana.

@ChinmaySarupria haha , yes i know that , but just remembered you πŸ˜ŠπŸ’πŸŒ·πŸ‘πŸ‘ ,missing u in chat πŸ’¬

8:09 AM
was krishna a non vegetarian ? anyone knows any reference ?
Rig Veda mentions many female deities. Ushas is the most celebrated goddess along with Aditi, Prithvi, Rathri, Sarasvathi and Vac.The female deities in Rig Veda form the basis for the emergence of the later goddesses such as Shakthi, Devi and other mother goddesses glorified in the puranas.

@RakeshJoshi I believe Krishna is Vegetarian. But many people rejects it...

because people get emotional and do not want to accept. but for me even if rama ate meat it will not make any difference in devotion.
we cant judge anyoen based on eatig habits

@RakeshJoshi Not sure about Krishna but Rama ate Mamsa.

ramas i have also answered on the thread

@TheDestroyer I want to know something similar to your question...
3
Q: Can I meditate on Lord Shiva during Sutak / Mailu (Telugu)?

The DestroyerI meditate on Lord Shiva every morning. But due to Sutak / Mailu ( days after death of family member),I stopped meditating and Kriya/Dinam has to be done( main ritual that takes place after 13th day or any other day according to their caste and region), I know we should not perform puja and go...

8:17 AM
Rama was Kshtriya by Varna. Kshatriya Varna people can eat meat as they require physical strength.
@KrishnShweta I found answer from Dharma Sandhehalu but searching for DHarma Sastras.

@TheDestroyer My doubt is about reading sacred texts.
@TheDestroyer OK.....

why to differentiate based on caste again ?

@KrishnShweta i think you shouldn't read them. But people suggest to read Garuda Purana. Not so sure. I think understanding scriptures require Satva Guna with Rajo Guna. But during Sutak people will lament. So, i think that time is not recommended.
@RakeshJoshi Varna not caste.

for everything people are associaing shudra brahman .. this is became problem for hinduism
for meditation there are no external parameters ...

there is provision for doing simplified sandhya in short during asauca as well. this shows that there is no need to stop all karmas .

@TheDestroyer Sorry I mean, for 1 year people don't perform pujas and visit temples so, for 1 year we shouldn't read?

8:24 AM
@KrishnShweta i'm not sure.

@KrishnShweta sutaka is not for 1 year. 1 year is only for conducting big auspicious ceremonies.
after 12-13 days or sutak you can resume regular upasana and pooja

@KrishnShweta No i don't think that , We are generally not advised to go to Tirtha Yatra ,and visit prominent temples like Tirupati-Balaji , Shiva-Joytirlingas etc.during one year , but visiting local temples and doing pooja is ok ,except for first 15 days.

I remember when my grandfather passed away, we didn't performed any Pooja and didn't visited temples for 1 year

@KrishnShweta its not needed. actually u can manasika pooja and japa during sutaka also . but official poojas should be resumed after 13 days and 11 days in case of child birth .
after sutaka is over you can readily visit any place.

So you mean one can read the sacred texts after 13 days?

8:33 AM
everything can be done except big ceremonies like marriage or sacred thread and big yajnas etc.

@KrishnShweta obviously ,we can resume our normal routine after 14 th day , little by little

Hmm...

what is this little by little ...

@RakeshJoshi Do you understand Telugu?

almost nil.
some words like 1 to 10 numbers
then annam, pappu, majjika pulusu etc .. food items :P

8:38 AM
Hmm... OK
@RakeshJoshi If you don't mind, What's your status? I mean are you a student or employee?

8:57 AM
employee

Cool..

You follow Shakthism right?

9:26 AM
yes ji. shaktism and yoga
Soma is highly talked about in the Vedas ...

there are separate hymms for soma ...

the highest vedic sacrifices/yajnas are called soma yaaga, agnistoma, jyotistoma etc all have pressing of soma plant and pour the juice in the fire.

soma is the divine nectar of humans and devas.

Ohkkk
By Shakti who do you mean? Is She Parvathi?

paraa shakti

Both are same right? Parvathi is also called as Adi para shakthi.

paraa is the cosmic/universal energy with no individuality or specific form

oters are manifestation of para in various forms

hmm.. OK.

9:38 AM
:)

9:53 AM
where are you and what do you do ? @KrishnShweta

I will join M. Tech soon.
Do you mean which state?

yes or city/town
Shweta means white/fair .

I live in Telengana.
Yeah. White color...

are you as per your name :)

Doesn't matter here :P
(Sorry I can tell limited things only)
Telangana* (spell error coz doing some work)

10:22 AM
@RakeshJoshi ........... (Sorry)

2 hours later…
12:16 PM
@TheDestroyer Is this the same book you always say to read? "Autobiography of a Yogi"?

@SreeCharan yes. BTW, I saw this post

yes yogi

While reading BG, did you read it with mind to learn from it or did you read it through the lens of non-vedanta? @RakeshJoshi

read with the lens of VEDAS
logic and spirituality

Please don't use terminology I can't understand. :)

12:27 PM
then i cant help

I didn't study vedas. So I can't understand vedas perspetive.

then logic and spirituality

Logic and spirituality means? Could That be understood as open mind?

rational
analytical

OK.
Applying to daily life?

12:30 PM
it should make sense with rationality and logic etc

User sv is also a rational thinker. You may like a chat with him.

for example if vedanta sutra believes varna based on birth then there is some issues
where is he ?

He creates some chat rooms to discuss his answers . Some rooms are frozen due to inactivity.

 Khandava-dahana and the death of Pari

Khandava-dahana and the death of Parikshit

cool
u ppl shd support
i think he had opposed some of my answers

He might disagree with you in case of Sankara,puranas etc., But there might be some topics you agree.

12:36 PM
if he is logic then he cant be sankara follower

You may Visit active chatroom and ping him to talk with him. He is not an advaitan and do not subscribe to any sect.

sankaras arguments were time and again refuted with logic / yukti
how to see rooms

I too don't agree with advaita and sankaracharya.
How do you enter this room?
Are you on mobile or PC?

pc
if the subject suits m e i can chat fr a while \
i made logical answer on sankaras parakaya pravesha ... no buyers though

It happens in the early days. Don't take it serious.

12:45 PM
not taking serious

2 hours later…
2:16 PM
@RakeshJoshi No one can refute Advaita, when you refute everything then one thing remains and that is Advaita. Adi Shankara is no more but another Shankaracharya type legend is now due, Swami Vivekananda once said the next big spiritual light will come from Chennai.

That light is me ? :P
not refuting advaita but sankara's advaita... and before me thousands of people have taked against it . im talking nothing new.
all the vedantin sects unanimously talk against sankaras vedanta. this thing shuld be taken into account

2 hours later…
4:42 PM
@Pandya How you maintain 2 avatars? I mean how you did that?

@KrishnShweta Do you mean different avatars for Hinduism.SE and chat-room?

yeah.

The chat avatars is taken from parent user of a chat profile (you can see your parent user at chat-profile)
In my case, parent user/site is Unix & Linux you can check it by clicking on my avatar in chat-room.

So when we change our avatar then we will have option to copy in all other SEs. Right?

5
Q: Show the avatar of related site of a chat-room instead of parent site of a user

PandyaCurrently, in the chat-rooms the avatar is shown from the parent site that a user selected in the chat profile. So, throughout SE network in (any) chat-room (talking about main chat server i.e not MSE or SO), the same avatar is shown. But as we know, sometimes users don't use the same avatar on ...

@KrishnShweta ^^
I've also proposed:
5
Q: Let's have better idea on how to get rid of the point of parent user in chat

PandyaNote that I'm talking about our main chat server i.e chat.SE The parent user in chat profile serves two important purposes today: Base for being able to talk in chat We know that when a user get 20 reputation on any SE site (excluding the case of SO and MSE), s/he can talk in any active chat-...

4:50 PM
Great!! I'll take a look...

Ok
Btw, Have you completed Bhagavad-Gita?
@KrishnShweta (From your Avatar) do you like gardening or plants/trees?

I'm in 3rd chapter.... (half completed)

Very Good. Keep it up! Best of Luck!

Yeah... I love gardening ^.^

Good!

4:59 PM
But I don't have garden at home. So I should satisfy with few plants.

Hmm...

I have a wish of seeing fireflies in my dream garden... lol

Haha

Btw, winter looks gone here!

5:10 PM
Hmm...
