8:00 PM
@DanielL I'll do it for you :)

Holy Hypercard Batman:

Flickr April fools' joke?

@DanielL It's offensive, because: "This answer contains content that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech." ==>> "Optionally, you can throw your Mac away "

Nope, a guy licensed Bill Atkinson's original dither algorithm.
That's not exactly hate. It's just stupid, therefor unwelcome.

@jaberg Yeah, that's what Flickr's joke was. They converted all photos with that, if memory serves. Something along those lines, anyway.

8:05 PM
@jaberg What about abusive?

@gentmatt Might give you that one.
@timothymh Ah. I didn't know about the Flickr joke.

Well, if this answer is going to stay I'll radically edit this post and try to explain why Linux is so awesome and secure as @Bane thinks it is.

then we will have to undownvote...

Aw, @Lauren's owl post got bumped off the board. :(

-24 How to limit my Mac's exposure to malware?
might take some effort, but I reckon we can reduce this guys association bonus down to 0 again ;)

8:08 PM
There needs to be a badge for something like: First answer to get more than 15 down votes.

I bet he's having as good a laugh as we are to be honest, on neckbeard.SE or wherever he came from

Neckbeards are easily trapped--just post "EXTRA PIZZA" to the MIT re-use list and they come scurrying out of the Athena cluster rooms.

> See, that's because you're using Ubuntu, @jrg, which means you're basically using Windows for hipsters. – Bane 1 min ago

jrg
Yeah, I see that.

Okay, MBW is over. Gotta get some stuff done. Catch you later.

jrg
8:12 PM
Windows for hipsters?!
Excuse me while I go figure out if I need to puke, cry or laugh my butt off.

Banecommented: And @stuffe, I'm obviously not joking, I am evil and completely serious. Isn't that obvious?

Our flags are totally valid.

jrg
Very valid @DanielL.

Nice one, @stuffe:

stuffecommented: Thanks for your concern, and for sharing your solution. I wasn't aware that there was a guarantee against malware for Linux. I'll bear it in mind :)

jrg
I really want to go infect my Ubuntu, Arch and Gentoo installs, and then post a answer.
just to troll the guy.

Shame you can't tag an answer

<Comicbookguy voice> Umm, err, excuse me but that's GNU-Linux please </comicbookguy voice>

Aww, who binned it :(

@stuffe Wait, that had a specific definition that I've since forgotten. :(

@stuffe um wasn't that the intended goal of all those flags?

jrg
And this won't be a "harmless" exploit, I'll make it do a good-ol' rm -rf --nopreserveroot /* hax. :D

Wait wait. Someone binned it? (Probably got cut because it wasn't used.)
Oh, the answer, not the tag.

8:17 PM
wait, are you talking about the tag or the answer?

Lol. @DanielL removed the answer and now @bane has his rep back. :/

@DanielL I flagged to share the fun :P

@gentmatt yep. That's the downside to deletion.

Well, in that case… ;)

I love how tags show in the starboard

8:18 PM
@jaberg Haha!

jrg
AHG. Just when I was about to POWN him.
I had my exploits all prepared too... :(

Okay, gotta run. Later boys, neck beards and brothers-in-all-things-amusing.

@jrg You can post them in chat. I'd like to hear more!

jrg
@gentmatt Ok, let me go prepare my case. :)

Nothing like a copy of 'ksh' called "dan.txt" with setuid set on it, stored in your home folder :)

jrg
8:20 PM
oh, i wasn't even that sneaky.

Store it in a tarball for extra fun :)

jrg
I was just going to go in the backdoor of the package manager.
Which requires the user to be stupid, or trusting, or both. And that is the very definition of "user" after all. :P

@DanielL *-17 ?!?!?!? Wow!
@jaberg Cool!
@jrg Of course!

@jrg *pwn

I haven't bundled the exploits, but basically here's what it consists of - gist.github.com/2354358. Nothing fancy. I'd bundle it with a python script or something innocent, post on some forum under a fake handle and just watch as they cry. I could also do it as a GTK theme (with a legit theme of course) and upload to gnome-look.org. Same result.
90% of infecting people's computers is social engineering.
the other 10% is just being able to run away to some place where they can't catch you. :P

9:10 PM
Hello.

9:22 PM
Does anyone here with enough rep want to show me what Bane said on that MacOSX Malware Prevention question? I feel a little left out.
Unless deleted answers get completely deleted.

BaneEasy! Install a Linux distro. Success guaranteed. Optionally, you can throw your Mac away and get a PC.

@AndrewLarsson I don't think they do....

@daviesgeek He said that on an Apple fanboy site? No wonder it got so many downvotes.

@AndrewLarsson Yup. I don't think I downvoted it though....I'm very sparing on downvotes.

@daviesgeek Well, now it's in chat. Forever.

:-)

9:38 PM
@AndrewLarsson It's actually in chat twice
@gentmatt You can install Google Chrome Canary, which will run parallel to your current Chrome install.
Then you can see what I'm talking about.

9:56 PM
is back

10:18 PM
@Mahnax ¡Hola, mi amigo!

@daviesgeek Ahoy thar.

@Mahnax Ahoy allí!

@daviesgeek Je parle français et anglais et finnois mais je ne parle pas espagnol, arrêtes parler en espagnol, s'il vous plaît.

@Mahnax Run-on sentence. Should have gone "…ne parle pas espagnol. Arrêtes…"

@timothymh I know.
Run-on sentences reflect my mood right now.

10:26 PM
@gentmatt 'Course, we got our -1 down vote rep back, too!
@Mahnax You speak Finnish?

@timothymh A bit.
Minä puhun suomea, mutta vain vähän.

@Mahnax Voy a seguir hablando español sólo para molestarle. :-P

@daviesgeek Alors je vais parler français.
Tai suomea.

@Mahnax Ya sea funciona bien para mí

@daviesgeek Puhutko sinä suomea?

10:34 PM
@Mahnax Ei, en juuri käytä Google Translate.
Espanjan liikaa.

No niin?
tch

@Mahnax ??

@daviesgeek Ha!

@Mahnax oday ouyay eakspay igpay atinlay?

@daviesgeek Yes, and it is stupid.

10:36 PM
@Mahnax I don't exactly like speaking it, but I do like typing it up. It is better as a written "language" than a spoken one.

I'm fond of Arp.

@daviesgeek Eh, I think it's silly.

@timothymh Never heard of it.

Anyways, Mahnax has to run away to work now, pray that he doesn't end up on the KFC side.

@daviesgeek "tapioca pudding" becomes "tarpaparpiarpocarpa parpudarping".

10:38 PM
@timothymh Mm, tapioca.
Bye!1one!

add "arp" before each vowel sound.
Same principle as Ubbi-Dubbi.
@Mahnax Bye!

@Mahnax That's the first time I've spoken typed it in ages.
@Mahnax see ya

I was just going to suggest using Google Translate to find out.
Already did it. Same type of thing that happened way back there.
Just wondering if anyone knew what it was
Weird. I typed something and got 

The Lithuanian thing. I remember

11:30 PM
@JasonSalaz Yup. That
@Mahnax how's this?
