@texnic Come here to chat. :)
11:47
@Olga Come to the mod room. :P
@Alenanno, @texnic, @Quassnoi I got an idea. Maybe we should have some place, where people could write if they are unhappy about something that happens on the site? Some place where one could come and say "what I don't like about one of the mods is that this mod is always removing my comments. Why does this happen?" or "I don't like that this site is all in English" So that people had a chance to clear up misunderstandings.
Well, what is Meta for?
Even chat is ok for that.
It turns out that people don't use meta for this.
Well, we should educate them then.
Maybe we should make it more obvious to toher people that if they want to complain they can do it?
11:55
how?
Well, FAQ
uhm
how would you write it?
But what I wanted to do is to create a place and put a link on some nice visible place
Add a Meta question and link it here

It's not my idea. But it's a good one.
@Olga You don't like it?
Wait, I'm reposting the call for help here =)
oh ok
Dear old users! We need your help to educate new users, edit, up- and down-vote their answers and questions, flag spam and offensive posts, and so on.

The general idea is to improve the answer, if it has a seed in it, and to ask the user to edit it or upvote other answers if their answer doesn't bring any new information. Pure spam or offensive or thank-you-me-too, or what-a-nice-joke-I-know posts should be flagged and removed. For more information, see this question on meta: meta.russian.stackexchange.com/questions/239/… And the last thing: let's be nice to new people (1 rep), make them f

I pinned your message. :)
Thanks
So it'll be visible on the right for a long time.
So, now I'll have a look at the meta post

A: Should I post a new answer to a question that already has an accepted answer?

AlenannoYes. You can post it and if you think your answer might be better, more up-to-date then you should. Don't let yourself discourage by the accepted answer. That can be changed. If you provide a new answer to an old question, which has more detail, it's better formatted, it provides sources, cites...

It's linked back to that list.
As you can see, it's not "simple FAQ", it also contains suggestions to new users. When new users come here, instead of repeating the same things, all we need to do will be to link to these questions.
Don't you think it's effective?
We'll see how effective this is, but I like the idea. It is nicer that faq, because we can edit all of it =)
12:15
Eheh yes...
About the example one I posted
Can you add a Russian translation below? In the same answer, I mean.
Yes, sure.
One more thing! Do you think it would be possible to insert links to the faq to some of the questions? Like the one about reputation?
I was thinking of linking the whole "Community FAQ", but if you happen to mention that part in the FAQ, just link the wording... I don't know if I explained myself well lol
Was it clear?
Because I have no wish to re-write all this stuff once more AND because we actually should confirm with the uneditable part of the FAQ anyway =)
I think we should also link parts of FAQ that answer some particular questions
If you don't need to add more wording to the FAQ, sure.
Like "for more info on this, check..."
But there's no need to make it longer, after all, we'll be linking in the site too where/when necessary.
I just don't want to create another question for "What is reputation", I want just to link this question to a part of faq directly
12:22
uhm... I see what you mean. Sure you can link directly to the FAQ section.
It's a good idea. :)
You mean link the question to this?
I've just edited the question, that's what I mean
yes
Ah yes. I agree then.
Good!
Hi, @chyanog!
Hello @chyanog. :) Welcome.
Thanks
My English very pool.
12:26

По-русски тоже можно, но только Аленанно нас может не понять
ahah
Да.
Я не очень хорошо говорю по-русски.
@chyanog А ты правила тоггда и не читаешь, наверное, раз они все по-английски?
I think I'm in the wrong place.:)
I am from Chinese
China?
12:30
Oh!
Oh
You're welcome here as well!
=))
@chyanog How come you are here? Do you want to learn Russian?
12:31
I first came here. Just a surprise.
@chyanog A nice surprise))
Haha
Now I have no ambition to lean Russian.
@Alenanno , what about creating a separate room to discuss the FAQ-related aspects? I'll have to leave now, but please do answer here, I will respond ASAP and we'll come to some nice solution, I am sure.
I got to go now. Bye.
@chyanog 再见!
12:35
再见!
@texnic OK, we can do this.
Why not this one? Why a separate one? This one is deserted anyway. :D
Anyway, I have to go too. See you later!
Later!

6 hours later…

Alenanno, Olga, I am here. I'd be grateful if you could explain me the ideas behind the FAQ discussion. To summarize, I'd like to make our main FAQ shorter (if possible), better structured, include a few words on high quality answering and tagging, and translate them into Russian. I am ready to participate in all this.
19:32
Discovered the FAQ room :)
