8:00 PM
At my old job, one of the devs was working on a e-whiteboard and we made a dots game and played with however many people wanted to. Try finding some form of online canvas and make your own board

2-player is the easiest to implement though and it's the most popular since it's harder to get 3 people who want to play than 2

if we don't find it, then it's a shared google spreadsheet time

@Hakase I have always played that game on the paper.
I guess I have played it with 3 players too

i joined!

alright I'll go back to playing, have fun y'all

8:01 PM
see ya!

@Hakase one of these might suffice webdistortion.com/2011/01/22/… . Ideally one that allows you to import an image
darn too late

I misinterpreted

you win Manshu

After so many days...
Thanks Deusovi

this looks interesting puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/32691/… . The posted answer on the other hand is awful

8:06 PM
The wordplay tag reminded me of Hugh.

Hahahaha
That answer

Obviously

face palm
except for Malaysians

@JonathanAllan Your db is better than mine.

^^
but Taking It Apart and Mind Games cannot be found :(

8:08 PM
wow his response as to why he won't post a better answer: puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/32691/…

@GordonAllocman It's quite common reason.

Also, re: that comment I quoted: what's with people who literally don't participate on puzzling making statements in our meta about policy

Guess we just gotta wait

like what, q_a?

Wow that poster has also contributed this great question to the site puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/32692/how-many-doors

8:10 PM
Jon, KG, etc

Can anyone delete this answer: puzzling.stackexchange.com/a/32652/17482
it's duplicate + doesn't make sense.

I already voted to delete

Im not sure this was intentional, but its amazing: "Air is everywhair"

Q: 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube: Why can't I flip just one corner?

IchigoI'm able to reconcile most of the aspects of group theory in relation to the Rubik's Cube as far as permutations go. I just don't understand why, since a 90 degree turn of a face is a negative permutation on the corner stickers, I can't combine two of these negative perms to reach a positive perm...

Don't think that is on-topic here

8:15 PM
also duplicate effectively

There are hello

good night/evening/morning/noon/midnight
ttyl guys.

gn @manshu

I'm somewhat in awe that he posted a pattern question with the order 3, _, 7, 9, 11 and didn't notice there was a very obvious pattern to it...

8:18 PM
found that last puzzle

There are lots of questions about rubiks cubes here, why would that one be off topic?

put all the pieces into the plastic bag except four red half-square-rectangles; voila.
it's not off topic

How are "explain this mathematical concept" questions on-topic? or is there more to it than that?

This site isn't just for questions that are puzzles - questions about puzzles are also on topic
this one just happens to overlap with mathematics (and SE site overlap happens all the time)

Ahh okay

f''
8:21 PM
you should check the letter lists, they don't match and neither one is exactly right

@Deusovi any clue at all on these f'' puzzles?
saved best for last I guess :)

got it

u do? :D

is HPBWSBDRBUO the correct green key?

f''
yeah, it is

8:23 PM
woo, didn't screw up extraction this time
we still have a big chain stuck behind Mind Games

well we have the puzzle with the blue key behind there at least

no, red

heh red

we've found the blue puzzle

8:28 PM
i still can't get over the plastic bag thing

It's for sticking over your head to end the torment

f''
if you don't solve the puzzle today, you'll just have to sleep with it...

sleep? :p

at least he's trying

8:34 PM
Poor peanut
Peanut at least gets it a lot better than conner

oh man conner

The Wall-of-Text Tween

guys please
put your guns away D:

One of my embarrassing pastimes is listening to narrations of online amateur horror fiction
And as defensive as I am of subpar stuff here, I'm completely the opposite with that stuff

hm... still stuck on Mind Games :/

8:42 PM
Hmm. It is tagged world play; so that must be important. — Peanut 30 mins ago
world play?

They do say all the world's a stage
2

hey other Gordon!

Evening. Just had a chance to log in, but I've been getting chat messages for a couple of hours that aren't meant for me!

you're welcome

I am likely the cause of that

8:46 PM
Happy to be included!

Let me introduce you two. Gordon, Gordon. Gordon, Gordon.

I really liked that answer.

I like the Buffalo one

8:48 PM

f''
that one was great

yeah, it was a pretty good one

A simple, sober and the aha-moment puzzle

So is f"'s puzzle solved or are there still more steps?

there's more
on the spreadsheet i've been using i made a map
we currently need to solve Mind Games and Multiple Parts
(and Taking It Apart, but we need to solve both of those first)

8:53 PM
@manshu what an amazingly crafted puzzle!

There we go, now the spreadsheet is in the sidebar

oh wow three behind mind games probably

certainly
there are no other paths up there
and from Fifteen we know that it's a 4x4 grid

can it not be missing one square?

the bottom right one? nah, that comes after Fifteen
there have to be 15 of those little pictures
and Taking It Apart doesn't have any of the pictures
(since it comes after the one where the pictures are required)

8:57 PM
ah yes :p
well my coffee machine is warming up...

but that's why i've been looking at mind games so much

rotation is of no consequence so they may as well just be five ordered dots
each

ordered?

lol the most recent answer to this question puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/32677/…

e.g [bbgbr]

9:01 PM
but that could also be [bgbrb] or [gbrbb]

same thing

so ordered up to rotation?

I did not imply L-R as a strict equivalence relation

Two people have downvoted that answer

it's funny, but why 30 characters?

9:02 PM
because you need 30 characters to post

LOL
the more you know
his ex down voted

Either they are upset it is a joke, or they are upset by the fact that his last girlfriend "belonged to him". Either way they can't really take a joke it seems

@GordonAllocman haha holy uh I mean poop

@question_asker might want to edit that before the swear police show up

I downvoted since it was not an acceptable answer for the site, not because of being offended.
And we're allowed to swear, Gordon.

9:05 PM
@Deusovi that was more of a joke about that guy that came in and reprimanded us for like an hour

hm?

Manshu posted a comment that was just the f-word, it got flagged somehow, and some guy from another stack exchange site came in and told us to watch our language

a mod? or just some random guy?

random:p

umm, not sure, probably a mod, but not from puzzling for sure

9:07 PM
we all do it :)

@GordonAllocman I mean, on some level, it is kind of offensive to claim ownership of somebody (what with millennia of patriarchy etc.) but I have a hard time reading that as anything other than a borat voice my waaaaaif joke

yeah it's just funny.

Yeah, I can see people get offended by the implications, but it's pretty clearly a joke, not his stance on the matter of women's rights

at least he didn't say "your last"

"Your mom"

9:08 PM
exactly

right

my response to any "your mum" involves my mother being deceased (she's not)

it's a joke of a certain kind that's been done to death to the point where it's hard to get up in arms about the 295236962th instance of it

Somehow "your mom" jokes have resurfaced in my friend group

I like repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition
repetition repetition

9:10 PM
it's not funny because it's inherently funny, it's funny because it's stupid and it's the billionth time it's been told and you still somehow didn't see it coming

repetition
boom

I think maybe it is funnier since we are all friends with each other's moms (in my situation)

ok so ... what exactly was the logic behind notifying everybody with the same first three letters as the intended recipient

Not sure if you guys are working on Mind Games but it looks like MasterMind.

wait, does it really do that?
@leppy that's it!

9:13 PM
I thought I read that somewhere, @Deusovi

let's try it
@quebecois
did it notify you?

So is there an image associated with this "Mind Games" you keep talking about?

OK so that's ambiguous
"If the user you're replying to has no natural first name and last name, simply enter enough characters of the name to make it clear who you are responding to. Three is the minimum, so if you're replying to Fantastico, enter @fan, @fant, or @fantastic."
so

9:15 PM
So if I type @que it informs you?

yes
and also probably Question Asker (uppercase initials, no underscore)

That looks a lot like Mancala to me, but that's probably unintended

(I bring this up because of the thing from the other Gordon on the sidebar)

ah, so when we just said @Gordon it did it for both

right

9:17 PM
Yeah I got that

as long as there are no characters that further narrow down the name
it'll notify everyone with those letters at the beginning

me too

mystery solved!

but you only need the first three

I wonder what 3 letter combination would send the most notifications

9:17 PM
@Gor
@jon probably

I thought it was only me getting it as I'm obviously more important!
;P

well, I'm just pulling that out of my ass, there's probably a more popular name-beginning

Well you have been here longer, so technically you would be @Gordon prime

@man this will probably generate some confusion
@man oh @man

Oddly jon got highlighted but there is no "1"

9:19 PM
oh I definitely got a 1 when deusovi said @que

who is the other man?

@manshu anybody whose name begins with "man"

I got notified when Gordon was simply spelled out instead of with the @

I guess no one.

9:20 PM
I was making coffee but on the tab

did you just wake @manshu up?

his name came up when I typed "man" at the users page

@JonathanAllan coz q_a is a satan

that person too

9:21 PM
There are a few people with User?????-type names, so @use should hit a few!

Mangs, Boras, Sweden
101 2

@DanRussell - you gonna solve Mind Games for us? :)

I'm currently working on it

...I know he can do it :)

9:22 PM
oh man.

man?
ma.
damn man

Ooh I got the Outspoken badge

nice

Is this a Mastermind-type thing?

yep!

9:23 PM
@GordonAllocman yes @use
the board game?
from the 70s?

yeah

@JonathanAllan wrong gordon

@jon, snow should not melt

oh
haha, time for name changes all round

How to get Outspoken badge: Step 1: post dank memes in chat Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit

Jon
9:25 PM
Lok
I was like who is beeping me

@GordonAllocman Step 2: Post those memes in different chat rooms

we're gonna have all the userNNNNNs in here soon

got the mastermind!

quickness

@manshu nah you gotta build up a rapport first man

9:26 PM
not necessary. Post them in sandbox or trash

Jon
Anyone have a good puzzle game I can make into a game?

WE'RE IN A BLEEDIN' F'' MAZE INNIT.

@Jon isn't a puzzle game already a game?

Jon
A video game sorry

yeah...I and Deusovi were playing a game.
@Jon A new idea you are asking?

9:28 PM
Well I was gonna do a chopsticks app but it's out there already

oh, i see how to do this one

Just make a window that has a webview to PuzzlingStackExchange and bam, new game. *Results may vary
2

but what..?

Jon
Heh

9:29 PM
got it

what?!

Whenever I ping @Jon , does Jonathan gets the notification?

@Deusovi on fire

that font looks highly familiar but I can't figure out why

no just a highlight - let me lose focus.... try in
3
2
1

9:30 PM
@Jon

nope just a highlight

ohk.
tell me now
@jon

maybe there is a #users cutoff?
no notification

clever site..
omg...it's 3 a.m.
bye all

9:34 PM
alright, in this new one there's a ton of Unicode characters
night manshu!

009F: Ÿ
0094: ”

maybe if we invert the binary?
gonna use the same XOR tool - that's just XORing with fffffff...
hm

so 00EF for first chr?
00BB for second

i got cf bb bf f0 9f 94

9:40 PM
yeah or C2BB...

nah, ef was right

oh wait you mean you got just CF on its own?

hm?
not sure what "ill omens" could mean
one more puzzle left and we'll have unlocked all of them

ï:EF
»:BB
¿:BF
ð:F0
¡:A1
¢:A2
ª:AA
all are 00XY

yeah, that just means they're not bigger than 255

9:45 PM
yep
and neither are any of the non-displayed ones
but we might want all the zeros

i don't think so

lost the link for the spreadsheet

and nbsp is A0

i think we'll need to figure out "ill omens" first
maybe it's just that we need the binary?
ooh hold on
EF BB BF is a byte order mark

yes we may be able to ignore the first three
then every line has 8

9:53 PM
yeah
i don't know much about string encodings

and all have format F0 ?? ?? ?? F0 9D A0 ??

these are unicode characters

Look at the binary maybe?

nah

And yes, safe to say you ignore the first three characters.

9:56 PM
split each row into two
first part of the first row and first of the last row are "Input symbol for Latin small letters"

sounds right

second of first row is [Signwriting hand-fist index middle crossed]
sign language probably

each row yields one char

i forget what that one is

what unicode?

9:59 PM
gotta go eat, back in a bit
EFBBBF
F09F94A1 F09DA09A
F09F94A2 F09DA08E
F09F94A0 F09DA095
F09DAA9E F09DA081
F09F94A1 F09DA09A
look up each of those - you'll find the unicode characters
and there;s the sign language stuff
