Could someone make [scientific-notation] a synonym for the tag [notation]? I can't perform this action because I need a score of 5 in the [notation] tag.

Q: Determinant of a Hankel matrix

SunniIs there a closed form for determinant of the Hankel matrix of the sequence $\{ 1, a, a^2, \dots, a^{2n+2} \}$?

Q: How to find the determinant of this $3 \times 3$ Hankel matrix?

ShevliaskovicToday, at my linear algebra exam, there was this question that I couldn't solve. Prove that $$\det \begin{bmatrix} n^{2} & (n+1)^{2} &(n+2)^{2} \\ (n+1)^{2} &(n+2)^{2} & (n+3)^{2}\\ (n+2)^{2} & (n+3)^{2} & (n+4)^{2} \end{bmatrix} = -8$$ Clearly, calculating the determinant, with the matri...

Q: Hankel matrix of Catalan numbers

d.yRecall that the $n$-th Catalan number $C_n=\frac{1}{n+1}{2n\choose n}$ counts the number of paths connecting $(0, 0)$ to $(n, n)$ that travel along the grid of integer lattice points of $R^2$ where each path moves up or right in one-unit steps and no path extends above the line $y = x$. In linea...

@TobyMak In my opinion, a reasonable thing to do would be to post the proposal about the synonym in the tag management thread. In that way, other users can vote there to show whether they agree with the synonym or not. (And if there are some possible problems, the users can bring them up in comments.)

So the suggestion about the synonym $\to$ was posted on meta, but then deleted by the OP: math.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/31103/tag-management-2020/…
