Lol, "I have given you the requested downvote."
You know, I don't know why Bill formats his posts with unitalicized letters. @Bill, why do you do that?

@N3buchadnezzar What's the deal with all of these big red flags being raised on chat? We have enough flags to clear!
@Limitless Old habit. In the early days MathJax looked horrible except in roman fonts. It's not quite as bad nowadays, but still fairly ugly in some cases.

I didn't know that. Cool to know. I like the italized. When do you think it looks ugly?

@Limitless Tex alone has looked at equations bare.

9:42 PM
@Limitless I don't know any recent examples since I haven't used italic fonts in a long time. I think the recent MathJax 2.0 deployment fixed many of the problems, but I haven't had a chance to verify that. But I've grown to like the roman fonts standing tall and proud.

@Bill, I like the italicized because it gives a sense of smoothness.

I think that was a problem only in WebKit browers (Chrome and Safari).

9:59 PM
@ZhenLin The italic fonts were ugly in Firefix too. Maybe its because I use the defaul t downloaded fonts vs. the STIX fonts.
@anon Ah, I hadn't noticed that answers besides mine got downvoted too. That's strange. I can't imagine why anyone would downvote those answers. I long ago gave up trying to understand downvotes.
@anon One thing I did figure out though. One person confessed that they downvote my answers because they think my many links and generalizations are "showing off". I was shocked when I read that. Do others think that? I post those because I think they are very helpful for learning. One rarely sees such in textbooks.

haters gonna hate

Hey! what goes here? according to the FAQ,
>If the bounty was started by the question owner, and the question owner accepts an answer during the bounty period, and the bounty expires without an explicit award – we assume the bounty owner liked the answer they accepted and award it the full bounty amount at the time of bounty expiration.
This doesn't seem to have applied here

Clearly your gravatar intimidated the AI system.

Damn my nasty gravatar! :-)

@robjohn have you morphed from "mean square" to "mean bounty hunter"?

10:10 PM
@BillDubuque >8(
@BillDubuque Not that it is that big of a bounty, but I was just wondering why the bounty wasn 't automatically awarded.
Perhaps a note on meta might be a good idea.
@Ilya I'll take that personally :-p

Oh no! Atomic Web browser is conquered by advanced mathematics. Or maybe it's just this page.

@Limitless what about that page?

MW seems to have changed their layout somewhat

@robjohn There is a 24-hour grace period after the bounty expires before auto-awarding takes place. When did it expire?

@BillDubuque The grace period expired about 2 hours ago.

10:18 PM
@rob, it won't render properly on my iPad's app, Atomic Web Browser.

@robjohn: Check your answer again. :-)

@Limitless which part? the math or the graph?

@anon aha! It just took a while longer. Thanks for noticing. :-)

The math toward the end. @rob

10:21 PM
@BillDubuque Thanks. The bounty was awarded, just a couple of hours later than I expected.

@Limitless Displays fine for me :-/ It doesn't even use anything fancy like MathJax.

@robjohn So your virgin bounty hunt was successful!

@Limitless sometimes Safari gets jammed. Try quitting Safari (do you know how to do that?) and restart it.

Oh, or maybe it does.

@BillDubuque "virgin"?

10:23 PM
@robjohn Oh, have your been bounty hunting before?

@rob, it's quite weird. And i'm not using safari. I'm using another app to browse the web.

@robjohn Not yet awarded?

It seems like there's an image and then a script replaces it with some clever HTML afterward. Seems inefficient.
Oh, it mentions Gosper. He had an account here at one point, and the profile just said something like, "I am looking for Bill Dubuque."

I reported the issue to the authors of Atomic Web Browser (the app I am using). Hopefully they'll fix it.

@BillDubuque User profiles actually publicly record what bounties users have offered or earned. robjohn has gotten ten apparently.

10:26 PM

@anon Yeah, but I think this is the first time he had to actually hunt for the bounty!

Ah.

Lol @ his profile
"how do I drain away?"

Doesn't seem to have stuck around.
Have any of you gotten your SE swag yet?

@DylanMoreland Bah, I don't have enought rep to claim them

10:38 PM
You started late, that's all.
I'm sure your rate of accumulation is much higher than mine has ever been. I fall in and out with this site.
And even on my best day I never say anything all that clever.

@BillDubuque Could you please take a look here? Someone seems to be downvoting posts for fun.

Good luck with this downvoting situation.

Thanks.

For me, editing on the main site has been very much slower the last couple of days. Is anyone else seeing this?
