There are circumstances where the corresponding English verb is something different. Examples include "to esteem/consider/value" and "to select to office" or "to confer a degree".
You should consult your dictionary for facere to get an idea of the variety.
And I realise that I answered the wrong question. The infinitive wouldn't work grammatically. What you have here is a subordinate clause without a conjunction.
"I pray you so that you select me as your mayor."
