Q: What is the earliest/easiest Summoner weapon to get pets in Terraria?

FeyhawkI'm interested in trying to play as a Summoner, but at 20 hours in I have found zero items so far that allow me to summon minions. What is the earliest/easiest summoner weapon to get? I've looked at the Wiki but am having a hard time telling. Is it the Slime Staff from the Slime King? Thanks!

@Wipqozn yeah, the Trailblazer Reloaded league is happening now. Good boosts, good relics, but region locked. So I can only go to those highlighted areas
And will get Desert next and last. So Tirrinwn, Kandarin, the Fremennik Province, Morytania, and the Wilderness will be locked out
But it's boosted drops and xp rates, and powerful relics. With my set I process entire inventories of materials at once (with bonus), can teleport to any fairy ring, spirit tree, and farming patch at will, can note and unnote items at will, and attack twice as fast with ranged
I'm tempted to bond up my main and go fire sale/fremennik
Just because the concept of getting free condensed gold that alchs for 4.8m is really funny to me
