also not sure if it was mentioned at Gamecom or what but Persona 3 Reloaded's release date was announced. it releases a day after Granblue Fantasy ReLink
Almost six years in and one upgrade after another, I think it's time to start to start looking into a new PC build.
@Nzall Well, the game runs just fine, but this being the first game to fully leverage Unreal Engine 5 technologies including Nanite and Lumen, it's a bellwether for what's next.
But DLSS is required, even if at the Quality preset, to hit a consistent 60+ fps at 1440p.
If disabled, I can't hit 60 fps. Frame rates typically float somewhere around 40-55 fps.
And this is with an RTX 3090.
Reviews are mixed, and understandably so. It's mainly an issue of hardware requirements.
I have no plans to return the game for refund (prepurchased on Steam).
> So... I'm at a crossroads here. The current hardware is sufficient to run the game reasonably well, but Immortals of Aveum is right up at the limits of what Astaroth is able to handle. Building a new high-end gaming PC, however, would require about $5,000 and a huge amount of setup time. The potential improvement is not sufficient to justify the time, cost, or physical space requirements.
(message to my mom)
In any case, with CPU bottlenecking and the aging X370 chipset (PCIe 3.0 et al.) likely to limit the usefulness of any further graphics card upgrades, Astaroth seems to be near the end of its life.
I followed the OpenTTD Wiki, which explains how ratings are calculated, and also cross-checked with the implementation. According to this table, I should get around 210 points, which should map roughly to 82%.
