@Nzall to some degree, yes, but even then Shields (negate damage until break) and simple Healing is far more efficient. So far no meta seems to have any need for a damage redirector
the only theory some have - but many consider it pure coppium - is that the next region will have characters that use summons/pets (makes sense on the lore front) and her kit would prevent those from dying since they would not be able to use shields.
that said, it would be a weird move. Sell the character now when she will only get use in some months.
not that it didn't happen before (Trad: Yoimiya looked weak. Then months later dendro came)
@SaintWacko I get your point, but that is one of the core concepts in the game. They built the game around reactions.
What I mean is that sadly there isn't much you can do about that.
Some characters are very "greedy" on field time, turning other in simple "boosters" but that's it.
I suppose you could minimize the switch by playing some teams that only relies on a main core DPS unit but you would still have to switch.
What would be very funny though is that lore-wise Genshin already played with the concept of "two elements" on one character, so it would be quite ironic if in about 6-8 years from now players end up discovering that those "weak" character where actually "characters that only make sense with the second element"
Anyway, on an unrelated notice... based on what I see online Story of Season: A Wonderful Life didn't do anything to improve on the original GC version.
Yep, I know, it is a "remake". But keep in mind that the original game was HEAVILY gutted due to release window, with too many features removed or left incomplete (goat - stops giving milk after one year, can't be sold, occupies a barn slot forever)
If you planned getting the game try at least to watch some video before you do.
You could end up buying an incomplete game again
(disclaimer: I have played the GC version, I experienced that firsthand)
That said, even if the character doesn't make sense now, it only needs another character to suddenly make her useful. The weird nature of gatcha and new characters being released every two months.
Suppose you get a "berserk" type that actually receive damage buff based on how much damage they take (BEFORE the redirect)...
