@Nzall A new update for the game is to be released this week. Nothing is known about its content. About a day before announcing the new (free) update Sean posted a tweet with a single emoji - an orange.

The update is called "Origin", so the orange was probably a pun on the name.

But since then people on the NMS reddit have been posting tons of theories, memes and crazy conspiracies about the meaning of the orange.

And he.. is watching, and probably laughing all the time

doesn't help that some days before he reposted the trailer for the Dune movie with a single comment about "Sand Worms".

What we're seeing is interstellar dust interacting with the shock-wave from the supernova. The interstellar dust is relatively motionless while the shock-wave travels at 350km/s.

The shock-wave is a pressure wave (i.e. sound) that is only moving due to the energy it started with due to the supernova, minus any energy lost due to friction.

A supernova also causes a significant portion of the stars mass to be flung out in an expanding bubble. This bubble is the pressure wave.

Also when requesting for reinforcements sometimes the build progress gets stuck at -1 days to completion

Oh, and a bunch of ships have their models missing and so I see what is obviously a test model with arrows pointing out of them instead

Nothing game breaking, just really awkward.

@PrivatePansy Stellaris is... weird. I definitely liked it more when Pops were actual units on a planet grid.

The game seems to want you to constantly micromanage, which is really awkward for a grand strategy game

My favorite example is colonizing terraformed planets. You know when the terraforming will end, you know how long it takes to build a ship, and you can estimate how long it takes to travel from the starport. So it's quite simple for an AI to do the optimal thing of starting the build process before terraforming completes, but really hard for a human.

It gets better if I let go of my OCD and need to play perfectly and focus on the big picture. The AI doesn't actually do that, by the way.

Also the AI isn't very good. A bit telling that the default difficulty where it gets no advantage over the human is called Ensign and is only the second out of five difficulties
