I've always assumed that the reasoning behind a denied edit sent a message to the suggester... is that not the case?

@agent86 Why are 'ERMAHGERD' jokes all over the place all of a sudden?

@GnomeSlice I don't think it does.
I don't recall ever getting one.

@GnomeSlice just the life cycle of an internet meme. it's popular again, apparently.

and I've had one or two rejected edits in my time.

11:07 PM
@Wipqozn tortoise rejection :(

Q: Decision on rejected edits should be displayed as a notification to the editor

slhckBackground When you suggest an edit, the outcome of whether it was approved or rejected is buried deep within your profile. You have to navigate to Profile » Activity » Suggestions to find a list of your recent edits, but even those do not say anything about the outcome: waffles♦ introduced t...

@agent86 I should use that line the next time a girl turns me down!

@Wipqozn girls turn you down? no wai

@agent86 yeah, we are kidding, that's never going to happen.

@Wipqozn tortoise highfive

11:12 PM
tortoise highfive

so a few days ago somebody mentioned freakazoid
and i looked at the intro for the show on youtube out of curiosity

It's amazing

and one of the related videos was to the first episode in full
three nights later I've finished watching its very last episode
and now I am sad.
curses!
(if it wasn't clear I've also watched every episode in between)

feelING, bro. feelING.
So since I can't recall who it was, I'll just default to blaming @wipqozn
it's your fault the show is now over! You should've got me interested 10 years ago, not now, dammit!
It must be against the SE rules... Somehow! I'll ban you for that... Don't know when... Don't know how... A sunny day... bursts into tears or something

Q: Unable to play Battlefield 3 because of an update but game is completely up to date

C-dizzleI'm trying to play BF3 but it won't let me. Whenever I click play it says to update the game, but when I click on update it just brings me back to my Origin application with all my installed games. Nothing shows it needs updating and it all says it is completely up to date. What do I need to do?

Q: Playing the piano in FF5

danRhulI noticed that when I played the piano in the very first town you go to it came up Got better at piano or words to that effect. So I was just wondering, do you have a 'piano' skill so to speak. I imagine that you will play better songs as you try each piano in each town. Is there any benefit to ...

oh well back to flag handling.
bah, the animaniacs had 5 tiees as many episodes.
Oh, that's also way more than 10 years ago, although P&tB reruns were aired at least... Uh... 10 years ago. Fuck I'm old.
At least I quit at the right time. Winx? Digimon? Pokemon eleventy? Dragon Ball Z? Give me a break.

@QAdp Well, I was the one that paid them to stop making the show.

@mark uh, if that happens then 1. You might as well use a keylogger, since the computer must be active and the mouse used for that to eork and 2. The safety of your Blizzard account suddenly becomes a somewhat minor concern
@wipqozn admitting the problem is half the battle
the other half involves feathers, tar and matches I believe

Also, @badp, shouldn't you be making a candle jack joke n-

11:42 PM
nah, that episode actually wasn't that awesome. I had better laughs

@QAdp The point of an authenticator is to protect against compromised environments, particularly keyloggers: even if an attacker captures your user name, password, and authenticator code, it'd only work once. If your computer is guaranteed to be uncompromised, the authenticator is unnecessary. If your computer is compromised and you're using Winauth or similar, the authenticator is also compromised

@mark simply use the authenticator before the user does. At any rate, while I do agree on the theory, in practice the plan falls down
either the 'threat model' (big boy words I'm not even sure I know the right meaning of) is a direct attack to you, or attackers will just turn to other people they do have passwords for. 123456 etc
I'm not sure why Blizzard is special in any way here
Steam handles way more delicate matters and the most it bothers to do is one-time email authentication through steam guard
way easier to set up, no hardware needed, no magic required and if somebody steals all your unusuals support will make new ones for you
true - steam's not doing auctions or allowing any money to be made on the service, but still...

user2334
It's not Blizzard, it's Winauth. Simple case of Kerckoff's principle. It's trivial to also check for Winauth on a computer you're attempting to keylog for Battle.net credentials and retrieve the restore code for the authenticator. Once you have that and the account credentials (which you got by key logging), you have complete and perpetual access to the account because you have a clone of the authenticator attached to the account

that's new stuff. All of this reeks me of Blizzard generally sucking

but here's my number, so call me maybe?

user2334
11:50 PM
Providing two-step authentication is not indicative of a company sucking. Trying to take shortcuts by using things like Winauth because you can't be bothered to have a separate physical device for authentication is what sucks. You might as well just remove the authenticator from your account, because it's just as secure

@ickleislands Stop it, I don't want to hear that song in my head

@QAdp Steam is pretty bad in a lot of ways too. It doesn't really work for people with slow connections.

@YiJiang I'm remixing it as some really dirty dutch gabber to try and punish a friend into never singing it on vent ever again
problem is
it has backfired, and now its stuck in my head

@gnome what's that got to do with anything

@QAdp ...You were talking about Blizzard and Steam.

11:52 PM
Hahaha, oh god

Although now I see it had to do with a specific game.

@mark I agree, I'm just surprised Blizzard has to go such great lengths when all other game companies can get away with it

@QAdp Blizzard makes World of Warcraft, yes?
People sell Warcraft accounts for hundreds (thousands?) of dollars.

do you have authenticators for xbox live or anything? Somebody sniffs your session, they just say the wrong word and you're permabannned till ad 9999 right?

speaking of RMAH, I have now made half of my annual pass back

11:54 PM
@gnome people also sell unusuals for money

so call me maybe

user2334
@QAdp Two-step authentication is the future: for example, both Google and Facebook heavily promote it.

@ickleislands Annual pass?

@QAdp Unusuals being...?

@StrixVaria blizzard did an offer of "diablo 3 for free by signing up for WoW for a year"
so the price of the annual pass is 8.99*12
got D3 for free

11:56 PM
Oh right. I ignored that because why on Earth would I start playing WoW when Diablo 3 comes out.

my calculations said that 9 months of WoW was worth around the same as D3
I was going to be playing WoW up until D3 anyway
so shrug

the only steam account hack tale I recall was a direct attack on somebody, social engineering and what not. There have been nasty js injections in steam trading webpages but that's a different thing

user2334
@StrixVaria You got guaranteed access to the MoP beta with the pass. So… you play cause pandas

Subscriptions are such an annoying part of most MMOs.

lol pandas
didn't even downloading beta, could care less about pandas
this is crazy, but here's my number...
slaps self

11:57 PM
@gnome hats found in crates once every ~100 crates

@QAdp ...Game, dude.

user2334
@ickleislands The sneezing panda says ಠ_ಠ

with special effects and stuff. Only the best unusuals go for 100 times the price of a key but that's that.

It's nothing against real world pandas
Just Blizzard pandas

11:59 PM
@badp I'm guessing you're talking about TF2, which uses Steam. Blizzard doesn't have their games on Steam.

Are those real bacon bits?
