A little theorycrafting here, which attributes should a Monk focus on from a pure DPS perspective?
Obviously in the case of Dexterity there are other effects to consider on the whole, such as the added chance to dodge and the effects that could be provided by passive skills in relations to that,...
We have run across this skull in crossbones icon over a few enemies in Hell difficulty and we don't really know what it is. It doesn't appear to be consistent with effect names on elites. I did notice my character had a debuff in the screenshot (didn't notice it in game) and also has the skull ...
This doesn't seem like a duplicate, one is asking how to rapidly switch a skill (as though he wants to combo multiple skills, the other acknowledges this and wants to know if you can go AoE to single-target or the like
The warrior-within tag was just created, and used in conjunction with the prince-of-persia tag. While the Warrior Within "subtitle" is unique to my knowledge, and fairly well-known, do we have a general rule for this? Obviously prince-of-persia-warrior-within is too long, but what about pop-war...
@LessPopMoreFizz So re: the int thing. Wouldn't that mean that sockets on armor are even less valuable because you want more of what you don't have than of what you already have scads of?
@OrigamiRobot As in, no one wants to pay extra for an engineer for a master's degree, no one cares enough about a master's degree to pay for it, or anyone who pursues a masters degree winds up not paying for it?
The real legitimate advice is that you should never pay for an advanced degree whose primary application is going to be a career in academia - because if you can't get someone to pay for it, you aren't good enough to get a job that requires it.
@RavenDreamer If I had to guess, it's as in "anyone who gets a masters degree is making somebody else pay for it."
@RavenDreamer I really hate how they make you pay for every little thing in Diablo 3... i pay to level the blacksmith, why should I pay a ridiculous fee to craft a crappy item?
I'm in the Dahlgur Oasis and have to find the Ancient Waterway? I had previously explored the entire map, but I don't see where I should be going.
Any suggestions for where I should be looking for it?
I have some items that gives me +X experience points for each kill, or +X%, but how does this compare to the XP obtained by killing those monsters? I can't see how many points I get when I kill them.
@RavenDreamer In a couple of weeks, the price of salvage mats is going to be roughly comparable to the vendor value of most items.
Arbitragers will see to that.
(Possibly not for Normal and maybe Nightmare Mode stuff, that market is heavily distorted by new entrants, as well as by existing across a very wide band of player and item levels, but that market is also, in terms of the economy as a whole and in terms of endgame, largely irrelevant anyway.)
@RavenDreamer The only alternative to the prices being comparable is if the demand for those crafting mats increases - which is also possible as people settle in at 60 and start turning to crafting as a reliable way to produce 15 pairs of gloves hoping that one of them is actually the right set of affixes - in which case, crafting mats will increase to a price higher than the vendor value of the items, in which case, people will melt them rather than salvage.
@LessPop_MoreFizz one market (vendors) is fixed though, and do people really want to blow money on materials when they could just buy whatever direct on the AH?
@NickT Right, which is why equilibrium will either settle at = that fixed market, or higher if demand supports it.
@NickT As to blowing money on mats vs. buying directly on the AH, the higher end the item you're looking to produce, the less the AH is likely to be able to support you.
yeah, but you're gambling so heavily then, and the gold cost anyways make it pure chance you'll profit (and on average, like in Vegas, it seems you lose)
the thing I'm still trying to figure out is set/legendary items
they've come out and just said "the best items in the game will not be set/legendary," and yet the drop rate on set/legendary is still (I imagine) very low
I have a hard time seeing how set/legendary won't be utterly irrelevant overall
Also because, realistically, the thing about 'the best items' in Diablo is that it's meant to be an unobtainable, platonic ideal. The whole point of Diablo is the struggle, the constantly picking up a random item that's slightly better than the totally random item it's replacing.
And in that rubric, legendaries fit in as basically 'rares with flavor text and a special model'.
The fact that the market currently prices them at a premium is the problem, not the fact that they aren't powerful enough to deserve said premium.
@RavenDreamer 15% gold is removed from the economy every time it's transferred. That in itself will cause stability. There will be some point where you can't farm gold faster than it is removed from the economy because it is a percentage.
If there's a sword I want for 100k gold, am I going to bother finding a private sale so I can get it for 90-95k? If I have the sword, am I going to sell it for 85k or try and find a private sale for 90-95k? Probably not.
@Wipqozn psh, if I was obviously trying to get a star, I'd shamelessly compliment you. Much easier, since you're so obviously awesome about choosing what needs to be starred.
This challenge requires you to get a chain of destroying 50 breakable objects. So far in the game, I have not been able to find any area that has that many objects close together. Is there a particular area that you find is good for getting this achievement? Any other tips?
Many Blizzard games allow to cancel animations, so units can move farther while shooting. Warcraft (DOTA) and Starcraft are good examples where you can invest APM to make your units more effective.
I found this video where some guy demonstrates this for the Deamon Hunter. It seems very effective...
The dwarves of The Pink Galley now know a few facts about eagle training.
This message appeared after the Dwarven caravan (from The Rim of Perplexing) had left. Just before, I had trained an eagle from wild to semi-wild. Who are the dwarves of The Pink Galley, and who told them about my eagle?
@StrixVaria You'll probably be fine if you leave it at the default setting (only ask sometimes) -- it'll always ask if you log on from a different IP address, or a new client install.
I just unplugged all my monitors (I have 3) and then plugged them all back into different jacks on the back of the computer, and get back up and everything still looks fine.
@StrixVaria Haha, I have 3 Samsung monitors, all identical, and it can remember where they are when I move them, which annoys me a bit when I don't put them back up in the right area :D
@James My "good" video card has some physical issues (I'm not sure what because I know barely know than which part is which) that cause crashes and stuff.
My "not so good" video card has a little trouble running Diablo 3.
How to find the name of the current settlement? The Dwarven name is in the civilizations screen ("Imports from ..."), but I can't see the translation anywhere.
I've been putting rares I've found on the auction house for cheap prices, which usually results in them being snatched up relatively quickly. Afterwards, I'd love to know what sold for the particular price to help gauge how much I can charge for future rares.
Is there anyway to see the stats of...
