I guess what I'm trying to say is that it feels a bit weird calling it Act I, normal difficulty... etc., because you have to complete all the acts on one difficulty to advance to the next
@skovacs1 I'm sorry I missed the planning session... I blame work and sleep
@Krazer It's just another way to discern progress. You could say you were playing Normal and that could mean anything from just started to almost done. You could say you were playing Act X, but it could be on any difficulty. It helps others delineate where you are in the game and approximate how powerful you are likely to be.
@Krazer There surely is, but I don't know if the "general" public of the bridge was invited. All the same, shouting suggestions at Jin would surely be one way to have given your ideas a voice in forming the contest.
@Krazer Not necessarily. Someone at the start and someone at the end would clearly be very far apart.
@Blem Going for things? Good luck. I personally have very little chance at contests such as these - I don't ask questions as I always look for answers myself and asking a question I know the answer to feels ridiculous. I might get entries for answers, but given the a) lack of clear sources to reference, and b) number of people scrambling for this contest, I think my chances are less than 0.001358269%
@Krazer Because the comments discussing this delineation didn't mention the contest prior to this, I thought you were referring to the actual game and was thus explaining Blizzard's reason for delineating this way.
@Krazer You didn't, but I had less than 10 seconds left in the edit at that point and wanted to finish what I was saying with some finality. I was getting more at the point that it isn't wrong, even though it could be improved, there's no need to make something of it. As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
@Krazer Perhaps Jin had more stages planned in between, but was made to narrow it down later.
@Krazer I don't know the difference at this point so no, I have no idea. Origami or Fluttershy (I don't recall which) professed the virtues of the Monk as awesome and insisted that I should play Monk.
I know you get a 3 day headstart - but in gears 3 for example, you got special skins for the weapons if you played the beta. Are there similar rewards?
The description for Archon reads:
While in Archon form, your normal abilities are replaced by powerful Archon abilities
But no further information is provided. What does that mean, precisely? Which abilities are replaced, and what abilities replace them?
I'm testing a circuit with restone but came across a very odd behavior, so I isolated a part of circuit composed of a block with the NOT gate to which is attached a level. When I activate the level, the torch of the NOT gate always burn out.
Why is that?
PS: If you didn't understand just look a...
Dwarf Fortress 0.34.08 was just released. When a new (minor) version comes out, can I simply copy my save folder into the new install and keep playing with my original world and fortress, or would I risk some corruption/crash?
The Rain of Vengeance tooltips are not very clear regarding the effects of the various runes.
The Dark Cloud tooltip shows a decrease in the damage, but what else does it do? Does it increase the number of arrows dropped?
@skovacs1 I initially wanted to do Wizard first, but the Witch Doctor's late-game skills looked pretty unique and interesting, so I'm giving him a try now
Gave a quick run around with a barbarian, as much fun as I remembered from the open beta... and then a demon hunter again.. more fun than I remember :)
Wheeee.... Played until level 3, then got disconnected right as I killed the first unique boss (didn't get the loot). Then found that I had 7 level 1 characters all the same class and name as my level 3. Now I can't log back in ("the requet has timed out"). Who could possibly anticipate this? :P
I want to ask a question about an enchanted item I've found, but I can't seem to find where Diablo III saves it's screenshots by default. Where do they go?
@Sterno: re: your waiting to play dayz comment: Yeah, it's hit or miss with finding a server. Although it's not as bad as it was this weekend when you spent most of your time at "Waiting for response from server"
@Sathya lololol oh man, that's hilarious. GAme breaking bug on day 1 for a game with more hype than a hype machine.
The Wrath of the Berserker skill effect duration can be extended when using the Thrive on Chaos rune:
Every 25 Fury gained while Wrath of the Berserker is active adds 1 second to the duration of the effect.
What is a good build (actives/passives/items) to maximize the time spent as a berser...
The Wizard’s Arcane Dynamo skill description reads:
When you deal damage with a Signature spell you may gain a Flash of Insight.
The “may” is very vague. What is the actual chance? And more importantly, which skill may ultimately generate Flashes of Insight faster? Also, is there any runes ...

So, it's taken me awhile (due to school), but I've finally come up with the promised restructuring of Game on!.The new structure I've decided on is a combination of badp's idea and my own.

I’m playing a ranged hero, and I want to do my best to prevent melee enemies from getting close to me. I’m trying to understand which follower is the most helpful for this goal.
The Templar is a classic tank and has skills such as Intervene, but the Enchantress has a charm, confusion and disable...
Question pretty much says it all. I want to know where or how I can see how long (in days/hours/minutes/seconds).
I tried "/played", like in World of Warcraft, but it doesn't work.
Is there a way?
In D2 Magic Find pushed up the quality of an item. Does it work the same way in Diablo 3? Will XX% magicfind increase my chances of a normal quality item over a inferior quality? Or does it only effect MAGIC item?
I fought a gold colored zombie dubbed 'Nightmarish' in its qualities bar.
What does Nightmarish mean? What other qualities excist and what do they mean?
This question is good for finding out how damage is calculated precisely.
However, nobody seems to mention something about this: When a skill is based on weapon damage, does it take into account both one handed weapons or only one of them (the main-hand?).
In Diablo III there are four different levels of difficulty:
Normal
Nightmare
Hell
Inferno
Obviously there will be more and stronger opponents, but apart from that: What exactly are the differences?
Every once in a while I'll come across the sneaky devils and they always flee. What determines when the flee (time, distance, etc.) and do I get better loot by killing them faster? Is there anything else I should know when encountering them?
I found a yellow Rare item, and it is unidentified. How do I reveal the properties of the weapon? I tried going to Deckard Cain (as you did in the previous 2 games), but he didn't have the option of identifying my items.
They've never been mentioned before in the previous installments of the Diablo series, yet they should play a primary role in Diablo III. What do we know about them?
For example, if my friend hosts a game and I join it and we go through the entirety of Act I, will I have to beat Act I all over again once I leave the co-op session?
Dying as a Hardcore in Diablo 2 looks different in dying as a Hardcore in Diablo 3.
Can someone provide principal consequences in dying as a Hardcore in Diablo 3?
extra: Can I delete from my heroes list my hardcore hero? or I must keep him there for some reason?
They've never been mentioned before in the previous installments of the Diablo series, yet they should play a primary role in Diablo III. What do we know about them? Lore wise and in game (even if this may be too early).
Can I skip normal mode and head right into Nightmare once I reach level 10, or are there some achievements that can only be done while playing on the lowest difficulty?
Normal is not much of a challenge and I would rather get the better loot from higher difficulties, but I also dont want to miss...
I plan to dive into Diablo 3 as a Demon Hunter after work and I'm curious to know if there are any early builds that are exceptionally weak and should be avoided?
Conversely are there any builds that seem to be particularly strong for getting up to the Skeleton King?
@Fluttershy I think a question about good builds is fine, but asking which builds suck is odd. Though it's funny because "build" means little more than "which skills did I actively equip?"
When considering which version to purchase, physical or digital, I've noticed that some companies will have the achievement system directly tied to which edition you have purchased (for example, Steam).
Is the Diablo 3 achievement system in any way tied to the edition I purchase or is it all thr...

After create a Hero, he come by last in the order in my heroes list.
How can I change his position, if I want him to come by the first one, for example?
I just came across Bishibosh's remains, which dropped Wirt's Original Leg. For those familiar with Diablo 2, you could combine a Tome of Town Portal with Wirt's Leg to get to the Secret Cow Level. In Diablo 3, does Wirt's Original Leg serve a similar purpose?
I'd like to install and play the Day Z mod for Arma 2, but the web page for the mod doesn't give very specific instructions. Simply dropping the .rar files into the specified directories seems to be insufficient.
I'd like a step by step process for installing and launching this mod. I purchased ...
@Fluttershy My co-guild leader is a huuuuuuuuuuge zombie game fan. I figured he'd be interested in this and went to post on our boards about it but he already posted about it and wants to know if others will play.
@Fluttershy Sweet, thanks. Battle tag is WinterPhoenx#1455 (note the missing I at the end, damn character limits). I'll be playing non-hardcore in the US. I'll be free most nights Eastern time
Last night was fun. Tried to play when the game launched and just kept getting server timeouts when creating a character. Finally gave up and went to bed
Now I'm at work, tired from ~3 hours of sleep, and haven't played D3 yet. sleepy rage
@Sterno Went to a local midnight release. Got home, and realized I was still going to have to wait two hours for the servers to go live. Just went straight to bed.
There are a lot of different side effects an item can have, and I assume that things like magic find have no influence on any of "our" found items at all.
However, I'm not sure about other things. For example:
Do followers get life-steal on weapons, too?
Does increased orb healing make any dif...
Sometimes I kill monsters with booby traps (chandelior chains for example).
This is good, it gives me fun 'acheivements' and bonus exp.
Sometimes my follower or myself are close to the occuring calamity and I'm worried we are going to get hurt from it. Will we?
Next select the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) OR Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and then click Properties. If you do not know, go with IPv4.
Then click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
