Trump has already established that he will have an isolationist policy. he's shutting down immigration, ending certain trade agreements and generally plans to make America less dependent on other countries.
Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing. I mean, the Paris climate agreement takes a hit because of that, but we will find other markets
Also note that Trump is unlikely to start any wars himself. I mean, both Putin and Kim Jong Un supported his candidacy, so he may not be likely to start a war with them. He may revert the nuclear agreement with Iran, but that's not too big a deal either
@badp I do, but believe me, after a decade of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, I doubt the American people and congress wants to start yet another drawn-out war
true. We doubted Brexit will happen. We doubted Trump would become president. But seriously, if Trump really is that bad of a president, we just need to last 4 years without any major events and then vote him out again
I lost control of my thoughts. I let the dark side of my brain control my actions. I managed to pull myself together before stuff got too much out of hand, but well, I basically lost the war in my head
Ugh, this is just so frustrating. I'm trying to find the bright side behind this whole disaster, and the best I can think of is "maybe his entire policy is a lie"
@Bart In a world that forgot how to smile, people won't strive to be happy. They will just be fine with being less unhappy than the others, at the cost of making the others unhappy themselves if necessary.
Thinking about my daughter right now. No little girl will ever again have to wonder whether she, too, can be presid… https://twitter.com/i/web/status/796162901539164160
I was going to celebrate today by announcing something, I actually did preps too (and executed the first part, then reverted it) but meh, USA made the choice.
From time to time, I want to play a game of Civilization, and give Freeciv a try. But every time I play it feels much harder and very very different than Civilization 1 or 2.
I'm not a Civilization expert, so I'm asking the question here to see if I'm wrong about this.
We played Battlefield 1 on monday in a group and I noticed that my medic class got to about midway between rank 0 and 1 up in the left corner during one operation.
The operation ended and we started a new one and I noticed that my rank progress was reset, no progress between 0 and 1.
So my ques...
@Arperum he could do like a youtuber that shall remain unnamed and try to set up a item sorting system build from about an hundred hoppers and too many of sorting pipes instead of using a single ME storage...
@Nzall I will just say that you shouldn't use a water pool that use water current to drive all dropped items to a single (or maybe three) central hoppers that go in a nice hopper hell to some obsidian chests......
then proceed to kill 10 KINGS at the same time and expect the server to handle it well...
@Nzall You're presuming that the people who voted Johnson would have voted Hilary instead. The impression I got was that his supporters were at least half Trump.
At my current rank in Land 5, 1st place in some races awards 120 trophies while others seem to reward 80 trophies. Why are some races worth more than others?
@Kaz the way I see it, and I may be wrong, is that the way we got here is by being somehow surprised at the fourth or so victory in general elections of a party of beautiful lies in recent history
@Arperum Fine. *some* proportion of americans, which is at least 60M people, supported Trump. Dismissing said 60M people as *stupid* or *mislead* or *uninformed* or (whatever the deplorable adjective of the day is) is a big part of why you now have a Trump presidency. If you'd like to stop it happening again in 4 years, maybe you should start listening to these people, rather than dismissing them.
@sequoiad I don't give a damn about being fair. I'm saying that if you think a Trump presidency is bad, what are you going to do about it? What are you going to do about all the people who heard you saying that voting for Trump is the height of idiocy, and voted for him anyway.
@badp Many people weren't voting because of xenophobia. Many of them voted for Brexit because they were promised to have more autonomy from the EU and the many regulations that they felt were stifling their work enviroment and economy
Same with Trump, his multidisciplined hatred is only a part of his discourse. he also promised more low-education jobs and massive infrastructure improvements
@Nzall For the previous project I used Vue 2. It was my first time building a non-trivial application using a reactive frontend framework. It was good, I actually enjoyed using it.
@Nzall too bad that if you still wish to do commerce with Europe, you still need to put up with the same set of onerous rules -- nothing has changed there
There was almost no learning curve, and everything just clicked. Writing Angular 2 code on the other hand makes me die a little with every line of code written.
@Nzall you are going to be paying for your autonomy from the EU -- as the country that already had an extraordinary amount of autonomy from the EU -- by being excluded in the discourse that leads to those onerous rules that you still have to abide with
also some of those onerous regulations involve the free movement of people
@PrivatePansy so you used Vue 2. I never heard of that framework before. Angular is a frequently used framework and many developers have experience with that
The reactive system and data flow within the framework makes no sense. The template language throws separation of concerns out of the window and makes me feel like I'm writing HTML 10 years ago. The framework itself is verbose and bloated, and has terrible performance. The documentation reads like it was written by a student.
@fredley There was room for a 'your mom' joke here, but that was taken up by the layer of abstraction Angular wrote over the entire browser platform API
An AI nation starts a surprise war against me, and later asks for a peace treaty.
Does rejecting such an offer influence warmongering penalties or upset other AI players?
@Wipqozn that analysis is fascinating, but let's not fool ourselves that "lol racism" isn't a large part of it. We have our very own witness, @GodEmperorDune
If you look at the Netherlands, Geert Wilders is a giant racist and you should see how big his party is. If you look at France, Marine Lepen also has racist tendencies and is a major player in the French elections. Bart Dewever and Filip Dewinter, the 2 main racist parties in Belgium, together have well over 30% of the votes

US and UK are close partners. We have a long and strong relationship based on values of freedom, democracy enterprise"
"I asked her about women, and muslims and the wall, but she emphasised instead that US and UK are close partners and that they have a long and strong relationship based on values of freedom, democracy enterprise"
Also, when asked about local LGBT rights, our PM basically said (translated from politi-speak) that all we need to do is wait for the older generation to die out before the government will do something.
