@Unionhawk Then don't be wrong about them.

> Writing assembly code is like carving the statue of David using only a live woodpecker that's trying to get away.

I played a bit of TIS-100 today
I would have enjoyed it quite a bit more without the fucking spacechem graphs
"look at how inadequate your thing is"
the instruction limit in each block is infuriating

Heh

Q: Need help recognizing this game from this gif

Ishan TanejaAs the title says what game is shown in this gif? The image is here, too large to attach and could not be compressed.(gif)

took me 14 instructions to keep track of the maximum of a null-terminated list of numbers
and the limit is 15 so that's fine
but then you also need to keep track of the minimum so you need additional instructions to set the minimum to 999 before you look at any number
kludging ensues

8:13 PM
just watched deadpool
that was good

user15026
@djsmiley2k I loved that movie.

user15026
I have a copy of the Martian, I should watch that this weekend

hah
was just thinking about that film too

user15026
maybe I will put it on my iPad and watch it on the bus

Q: If I have a shiny Nincada, what happens?

Shadow Z.If I have a Shiny Nincada, and I evolve it with an extra spot in my party, what happens? Do I get a Shiny Ninjask and Shiny Shedinja, or just a Shiny Ninjask?

user15026
(I'm going to Toronto tomorrow, so that's about 2 hours on the bus)

@Ash are you hyped for the parade?

user15026
@GodEmperorDune SO HYPED.

user15026
When I get home I am painting my nails all rainbow because why not

8:22 PM
@Ash because that's awesome

that tidy thing is the maximum
this clusterfuck is the minimum
but hey it's kind of fast :/

@fredley Jesus fucking christ. Well maybe this incident will finally make the USA do something about the TSA.
or not, who knows

@Wipqozn nope, not gonna change anything

maybe the courts and politicians will decide that she's secretly A TERRORIST

user15026
@GodEmperorDune I might have spent an inordinate amount of time picking the perfect colours for it.

user15026
8:27 PM
@Wipqozn I wish, but I am not holding my breath.

@Ash Neither am I

user15026
Blue's not a good colour for me

@fredley What the fuck?
That's horrible

@twobugs Just another day for the TSA

I'm not watching that video
the thumbnail is plenty

8:30 PM
@badp There's nothing but the thumbnail and the article in the video.

@Ronan YOU TOLD ME THAT VIDEO WASN'T FRIDAY THAT TIME
AND THEN IT WAS FRIDAY
HOW CAN I TRUST YOU NOW

It wasn't technically.

@Wipqozn Yeah, it takes a lot of effort to disband a government agency.

@Yuuki I'm sure the end result will that the TSA will be given better training so they learn to abuse people in such a way that no one will know.
MUCH DESPAIR
so enough of that, because seriously fuck everything about that and the TSA
although fuck

Have you ever flown from the United States?
It's typically not awful
Incidents like that are the exception not the rule.

8:36 PM
@Unionhawk You are a fully able white male though.

@Unionhawk Are they though? You hear shit about the TSA everyday.

Do you?

@Wipqozn They're typically annoying as f--k. This kind of violent behavior is usually the domain of the police.

Yeah usually they're at worst annoying

@Ronan It seems the only time I see you now when racial/gender issues are brought up. And I'm not sure what percentage of the time it's you that's bringing them up.

user15026
8:41 PM
It's tricky - TSA is not perfect, by a large margin, but you also have to consider the large number of people that fly out and into the states EVERY DAY.

user15026
The problem is, we only remember the awful stories like this. Doesn't make them less awful (seriously this makes me so angry that this happened, I can't even) but also like @Unionhawk said, exception, not rule.

user15026
I do wish there were less exceptions, as it feels like I hear more terrible out of TSA than I do CBSA, but I dunno.

user15026
(I think CBSA is the right Canadian equivalent)

@Ash The problem is that not only is the TSA not perfect, they're not even close to effective at what they do.

user15026
@Yuuki Well, yes that too, I'm not saying they're good, I'm just saying they're not all monsters

user15026
8:43 PM
(At least I hope not)

@Yuuki effective as in effective or effective as in efficient?

The Department of Homeland Security ran several testing exercises on multiple airports and the TSA success rate was roughly 3%.
IIRC.

Ah

> An internal investigation of the Transportation Security Administration revealed security failures at dozens of the nation’s busiest airports, where undercover investigators were able to smuggle mock explosives or banned weapons through checkpoints in 95 percent of trials, ABC News has learned.

The series of tests were conducted by Homeland Security Red Teams who pose as passengers, setting out to beat the system.

According to officials briefed on the results of a recent Homeland Security Inspector General’s report, TSA agents failed 67 out of 70 tests, with Red Team members repeatedly

user15026
Yeah, stuff like that makes me so nervous.

user15026
8:45 PM
But I just tell myself more people fly and live than fly and die, so my odds are decent.

I feel like it's on the order of lightning odds
Maybe not quite

> In a 2013 hearing on Capitol Hill, then-TSA administrator John Pistole, described the Red Team as “super terrorists,” who know precisely which weaknesses to exploit.

“[Testers] know exactly what our protocols are. They can create and devise and conceal items that … not even the best terrorists would be able to do,” Pistole told lawmakers at a House hearing.
... always assume that enemies/intruders/hackers/etc. know your protocols.

user15026
@Unionhawk Yeah, that's what I tell myself, because my paranoia brain doesn't need any more help.

Was he the one with the huge stake in the full body scanners?
Also I'm pretty sure in some of the cases they did things like just throw a gun in a bag and no one noticed
So that's not really "super terrorism"

I'm shocked my bag didn't get pulled aside at either end traveling to dive
I always carry my regulators on, so on the xray, it just looks like a big coil of tubes and such

8:49 PM
I got pulled aside for having a box of chalk pastels in my bag
Exactly this set:

Could have been colourful C4!

I'm pretty sure xrays are color blind
Or whatever technology they use

user15026
I've only flown once and didn't have any issues

@Unionhawk xray is a single color so yes
(xrays, light, microwaves, wifi, magnets, all the same thing)

@Ash Probably flown about 100 times and that's the only issue
Other than the occasional random screen

8:53 PM
TIL @fredley is a bird

I got into a fight with a customs agent once, that was fun

user15026
I didn't like flying, it made my cyborg bits hate me.

Oh wait, I got denied boarding once

@Ash do you have a special cyborg identification card or does that not set off detectors?

8:53 PM
After 6 months in India. Had lost an Important piece of paper that I did not know was important.

@KevinvanderVelden Nah, just shouting

@Ash the pressure thing? You're probably also not allowed to dive

So bribe

I showed her what for though shakes fist

Italy vs Germany penalties

user15026
8:54 PM
@Unionhawk I did have a thing from my doctor but it's medical grade plastic and junk so unless they bodyscan they won't see anything

Oh man

user15026
And I didn't get bodyscanned

user15026
@KevinvanderVelden yeah, nope, not a thing. Which sucks because I feel like it would be fun

One of my high school teachers has a hip replacement that sets stuff off

@fredley The Dutch interrogated me for being an elevated risk, but they realised I wasn't so that went pretty smoothly

8:55 PM
So he's got a card that says "yo I have a metal hip"

@Ash I've never had to do those luckily, but only been to the US a handful of times

@fredley it's actually not bad

@TimStone All @Tim's are suspect

@TimStone Got a random screen in Dubai, but the guy didn't seem to be that interested

@KevinvanderVelden At least when traveling alone, it seems

8:56 PM
@Unionhawk It's worse than almost everywhere else I've flown to, but it's survivable

user15026
@Unionhawk Yeah, I had one that said "these are medical bits" because it goes from brain to belly and is all coiled tubes and junk so I suspect I look super suspect to the right person

It is standard in the United States, but it's still not an awful process
Empty pockets into backpack, boom
You're clear

@Unionhawk But the lines man, the lines

It's not terrifically slow

@Unionhawk I mean

9:00 PM
@Yuuki I'm more active in the mornings so it's not surprising we don't run into each other.

Really its being caught behind less pro travelers that's the slow part

Q: What are CS:GO item float values, and how do i calculate them?

PalestinaWhile searching here on stackexchange for Minecraft related questions to answer, i've seen these questions about "item float values" I'm new to CS:GO, haven't heard of this many times before, but i've heard that it's possible to calculate (which is something I don't know how to do) So in a nuts...

And the TSA is testing ways for pro much travelers to pass slower travelers
Which as a pro much traveler, is very yes

I mean TSA Pre has existed for years but it's annoying and a further invasion
Checking for explosives is pretty much the only useful check anyway, no one's going to be able to commit another September 11th-type attack because passengers have stopped assuming a hijacking will end peacefully. But that's a Hard Problem if advanced explosives are used, and the current methods don't do much to address that effectively

@Unionhawk pro == rich?

9:07 PM
@TimStone they have a thing where you stage your bags on one thing then only when you're ready push it onto the belt

@Unionhawk Everywhere has this

@fredley no, not, like
Hold on
I think
The idea is staging runs parallel to belt movement rather than in series
@fredley pro=fast

Q: How can I overcome my fear of PvP?

C. WolfeTo be clear, it's not PvP itself that bothers me, or losing. It's the thought of having to deal with sore losers and winners being vitriolic. I used to be able to just brush that sort of bs off and carry on playing but one day the hate really got under my skin and eventually I stopped playing ag...

@Unionhawk This is how all major airports I've been to recently work...
It's exactly the same system, with the auto-routing conveyor as well

@fredley oh well then
It's still rolling out as of june

With the pause of dread while it decides whether to siphon your bag or not
Penalty zeit

Sample airports: Cincinnati and FLL

GNight!

9:40 PM
WOO FC CINCINNATI
Who needs EURO or whatever the Americas tournament from last week was called

3/7 penalties to 3/7 penalties

@Yuuki in sports the internal countries play separately

Including all the principalities of Germany?

Go Cincinnati then!

I FOUND A PLACE THAT MAKES CHURROS (and other Mexican food)

user15026
AND THEY DELIVER

is it a mexican restaurant?

user15026
yes

user15026
10:27 PM
I like the idea of possible churros in my life

@Ash DOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

user15026
@GodEmperorDune looks up the weight watchers information for churros Okay yeah, I can do that...

@Ash RIP

user15026
@fredley Hey if this is the end, I'mma gonna go out happy and full of churros

@Ash good plan

10:34 PM
I broke my wrist today. :(

user15026
@Fluttershy What? How? Oh my gosh. all the internet hugs

@Fluttershy Oh my

@Ash I wrecked on my bike. :(

user15026
@Fluttershy Oh no :( That sucks. Got a lovely cast now?

10:41 PM
@Fluttershy I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you heal quickly!

user15026
Burrito, all of the queso ever, and 3 churros. Dinner is going to be awesome when it gets here.

I just had Qdoba burrito (cc @GodEmperorDune) it was good

@Ash Not yet. Just a sling and brace. It's hairline, so I don't know if it'll even need a cast or not.

user15026
@Fluttershy Ah. :) Well, hopefully you heal up nice and quick :)

@twobugs cc @uni
might as well cc @Wipqozn too
@Fluttershy oh that sucks

user15026
10:46 PM
I am stupidly excited to have dinner. I hope I like the churros :P

You will
That is my prediction

i am hyped for @ash's adventures in churros

Q: what is the best speicies to be on skyrim?

Zachary HouckWhich because I am having such a damned hard time so which one

whoa whoa
wtf where did this come from

11:26 PM
how does this make any sense to anyone

user15026
What are you doing

Looks like that TIS-100 game

I'm trying to understand the explanation
because the example doesn't match

@badp I think it means, e.g. if #3 goes from 0 -> 1 between cycles, write '3'
don't read left-right, read top-down
and it's guaranteeing that it will not happen in more than 1 column in a single pass

ohhhh

11:29 PM
yeah thats how i read it

I though it was left to right

oh dang, this looks great

reminds me of old EE stuff

1v1 competitive platform fighter

11:29 PM
yah, it's simulating interrupts

this IS basically old EE stuff
now I see why no one in my friends list solved it :P

that game looks cool, but if I bought it I'd probably never work again

human resource machine is a much better game
this architecture is hellish

I'll settle for Wasteland, which has a built-in play timer.

11:31 PM
every hour or so you die catastrophically and rage quit

actually it's probably too indie for you

@badp because it is dealing with circuit level operations rather than higher level operations

@GodEmperorDune not even
you get 1 register and 1 memory address
you can't use the memory address directly

like it reminds me of EE homework assignments to "write a circuit that fulfills these truth tables"

all I/O is blocking
instruction limit of 15
enjoy

11:34 PM
your hope is now this bare... metal programming

so you're programming a breadboard

essentially, a 4×4 grid of breadboards
this is the overall median solution to finding the minimum and maximum of a null-separated list of numbers
I'll probably look up something better on github ;P

verilog, bruh

@GodEmperorDune isn't Verilog supposed to be a declarative language for hardware design?

@badp yes

11:41 PM
you throw a thing at it, it barfs a bunch of tangles at you, and then you move all the lines, eventually cry and give up

verilog is actually easier than this

this is kind of like a GPU where you get to write different code in every cell
(which is not how GPUs work)

@Yuuki No. No. NOOOO. No. No.
HI GUYS

hiiiiiiii

@Arperum Thanks :D my stylist is a wizard obvi

11:44 PM
"This is kind of like a GPU in that it works nothing like a GPU" ??

@KutuluMike Well you know how you have things that are like another thing, but aren't really? It's like that, sorta.

got it

user15026
Churro time :D

user15026
Okay I love churros

user15026
11:55 PM
where have they been all my life

@Ash right?!

user15026
So delicious.

user15026
My belly is a happy place

@spugsley hi @spugsley
What is your position on Churros?
