Shame, the game is pretty fun. Controls are a bit wonky, though, but that's not that big of an issue.
I mean, I've read summaries of the rest of the game but that's different from playing it and being able to form my own opinion
Mhh... I think if Other M was a reboot, and not a sequel, it might have worked better.
It worked for Tomb Raider
I think my gripe with Tomb Raider was some of the death scenes got a little... weird.
Like someone was in the back of the room watching and having a bit too much fun.
Otherwise, pretty neat game, looking forward to the next one.
@twobugs I didn't see too many of those, but the ones I did were really brutal.
@twobugs Oh yeah, they were ultra-violent.
14:04
Yeah, they were some of the most brutal I'd seen in a video game
Granted I haven't played some of the like, ultra-violent games or anything
But I think there was one while you were like sliding down a river where you just get impaled on a spike
@twobugs I have played some pretty violent games, but the deaths in Tomb Raider are horrible.
@twobugs I love Conans reaction
I love Conan.

Surya WonoAt first, i got level 3 tech but suddenly my tech level become 0. I don't change anything, i have 1 university and 3 college. Almost all my sim are educated. Why this happen? This tech falling also happens several times on my another city. Is this bug or something wrong i have done? Now all...

@fredley The poster is better
@fredley Lunch is good. No one else gets lunch.
@5pike To be fair, at least Capcom is still kicking butt with Monster Hunter.
@fredley this is funny but also slightly racist
@GodEmperorDune But it's racist to everyone, so that's ok.
14:17
@Yuuki They might be getting back on track with DMC as well...?
@5pike It's got a few additions
@fredley I see
Fuck that noise
Spaces aren't allowed?
Any password validation script that rejects my LastPass generated ones can die in a fire
4
"Maximum of 15" -> stored in plaintext
VARCHAR(15)
14:19
I think you can at least make a cool Kirby password with those restrictions
German corporation: You have 5 chickens. Since everyone else has cows, your eggs fetch a premium. You demand that everyone else's cows produce eggs because that's where the money is, those lazy good-for-nothing bastards.
@fredley starred for truf
But they certainly don't deserve it
My bank required a maximum of 16 characters
My default generator uses 18
char[15] password
@fredley STOP IMPOSING MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM PASSWORD LENGTHS.
14:20
my bank has a max of 10
@Yuuki new windows is max 16 i heard
I broke it.
@Yuuki Minimum is fine. Impose a 40 character minimum to force people to use a password manager
THE MORE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOUR PASSWORD, THE LESS SECURE IT IS NO MATTER HOW LONG IT IS.
took them awhile to figure out why
(infact I figured out why)
14:21
but thats better than old windows only looking at the first 8 and tossing the rest away
@djsmiley2k Oh dear. Don't you live in the UK? Where banks aren't as liable for bad charges?
@Yuuki Minimums are still okay, it forces people to at least use 123456 as their insecure password rather than just hi
@twobugs errm yes?
:)
I never quite got the idea of a password manager, sure it's nice and convenient. but if a hacker finds their way into that? you are so fucked
it's 2 factor tho
14:21
@fredley on a website, yes. on a password that is shared by a ton of apps without sso, no
@Rapitor so protect it like you're expected to protect the others
but actually do it.
@Rapitor It's encrypted, with strong encryption. If I loose my password I'm fucked, but the odds of hackers getting in is vanishingly small.
In Windows XP you didn't even need a password
@Rapitor If a hacker finds his/her way into any of your accounts if you don't use a password manager, you're f--ked since most (read: almost all) people use the same password over and over again.
@Rapitor 2 factor it and they can't get in
14:22
Also I have MFA on anything remotely sensitive, like email.
@Yuuki this is true, my password is global with slight variations
@Yuuki thats why only my bank password is hunter2

You could keep your Keepass file inside a Truecrypt vault
At least with a password manager, they have to find their way into the manager itself. Hacking your random-ass gaming account doesn't help them get into your banking account.
You could keep your keepass file on an encrypted flash drive in an actual vault
14:23
@Rapitor whereas all mine are random...
kee pass? keep ass?
I never understood that naming
Keypass, sure.
rofl who star'ed it XD
I blame @agent86.
@djsmiley2k Someone probably trademarked KeyPass or something
urgh
kipass ?
Qipass
(fingers crossed)
14:25
Qipass
D:
Chipass.
Quip ass
> I'm ordering from amazon.ca instead of amazon.com because I leaked the numbers of all my USD credit cards with a pic on twitter and had to cancel them.
oh linus.
@Yuuki As far as I understand the situation, "Poland"
14:30
@Yuuki This is the best thing ever
@Yuuki This is amazing
I waS ABOUT to say 'Poland?'
Don't US credit cards have the number on the back?
@djsmiley2k yeah why
14:37
for security reasons
Yeah, but don't they??
as.... you can't do anything iwth just the numbers on the front?
I feel like signing up for this would be like making a deal with the devil
@djsmiley2k Nah, they're on the front (and visible from the back, since they're always impressed)
14:37
....
@TimStone errrr
over here we have 7 digits on the back
printed, not embossed
you can use just the front numbers for some things. but you cant make purchases without the back
@djsmiley2k You can do some things with the numbers on the front, but a lot (I think all) of online transactions require the CSC.
In the sig bar
Ah, the CCV code. We have that on the back, it's only 3-4 numbers
14:38
@TimStone no? mine are printed on, you can't see them at all from the front
Huh, what can you do without the CCV then?
@TimStone On most cards it's on the back. Some are on the front.
> How To Become a Patent Troll
@Unionhawk wat
14:38
@djsmiley2k basically nothing
The card number itself is on the front? The CCV is on the back.
@Rapitor yeah, that's what I thought
hmmm ah well
@djsmiley2k Create a fake card to use in transactions that don't require a CCV
@TimStone American Express, specifically comes to mind
Linus is sometimes such a dum dum.
14:39
And probably just them
your card number won't change (usually) when you renew your cards, as they have an exp date. your CCV will change though.
@TimStone Yeah, i'm wondering what transaction don't require it tho
Any swipe transactions in the US
@djsmiley2k Transactions where you have the card present.
We only just started rolling out chip-cards
14:40
Yup
And only some stores have the readers set up
....lol america
The CSC is used to authenticate the card in transactions where the card itself is not used (like online transactions).
you're so 3rd world.
@Unionhawk Wat, my American Express card right here definitely has the numbers embossed on the front >_>
@Unionhawk And we didn't make it chip & pin, just...chip.
barely anyone even has NFc readers
14:40
@TimStone The numbers are embossed on the front, and the CCV is also on the front.
iirc
We got NFC here, tis cool
infact my latest cards aren't even embossed.
Remember when they had NFC keychain things for payment that nobody used?
@djsmiley2k You're in the UK, right?
@Yuuki yes
Rollout is much easier for you.
14:41
@Unionhawk Oh, okay, yes
Because?
Size, for one.
lol
all of europe has migrated, lke./.... 10 years ago
Wheras for mine the CCV/CSV/Whatever is on the back of the card
@djsmiley2k I think it's been over 20 now
14:42
@djsmiley2k And each of those countries is also smaller than the US.
@TimStone maybe since start of rollout
I think the no signature thing is around 10 years now
Yeah, point being, we're super slow. :P
Yes, you can't pay by signing.
Yeah just wondering why
Well, I guess the question is whether each EU member rolled out chip & PIN separately or was it a EU resolution thing.
I just got a new card that isn't a chip. So that's currently where we're at.
14:43
must love the fraud.
@djsmiley2k Physical card fraud in Europe was a lot more common
I blame russians
@TimStone Pretty much this. Fraud was more common in Europe than the US.
So it wasn't as much of an immediate problem.
But now that Europe has moved to chip & PIN, the fraudsters coming back over the pond.
Now that the threat is largely digital and doesn't require a skimmer, there's more incentive
14:44
that's amusing
Accordingly, the US is starting to increase security measures.
Not that skimmers aren't frequently used, but you can't collect millions of numbers that way. Infecting POS systems, however...
Sad, isn't it? :/
@TimStone Or you could just steal press releases and make millions that way (which is hilarious)
lol was just reading that
14:46
@Unionhawk Go on. I need to know. For a friend...
@twobugs Insider trading ring hacked their way into insider information
Haha. I love the financial sector
It's just one big old flushin' toilet.
So, like, they get confidential press release from Panera that says earnings are up, advise their traders to put it all in Panera, make about a million in 10 minutes
It's a brilliant plan really

Q: What is the most effective way to "play" the auction house?

bwarnerAs in most games that feature an auction house to transfer goods between players, the Hex auction house can be "played" in order to make a profit by buying goods and reselling them. It has some features that differentiate it from other games, such as certain items containing random other items (...

Q: How am I supposed to beat Egypt without being able to plant the green plants?

user121041I'm playing tutorial mode but after I get teleported to Egypt, I lose the ability to plant the offensive plants (green). @GodEmperorDune Oh good, hi meins are now EPIC quality.
14:52
@Unionhawk insider trading is a crime, yes.
Still think the hi/lo mein joke is bit lessened by the fact that chow meins no longer exist.
or at least I think so?
It is
But would this fall under those laws? You're not an insider, you broke anti-hacking laws true
But noone in the company gave you that information
I think the standard is using insider information to perform trades falls within the realm of insider trading
14:54
It's classified as making the trades on the basis of nonpublic company information, your legality in having that information notwithstanding
@KevinvanderVelden at least according to Italian law, that doesn't change a bit
Well, I guess the question is whether insider trading is predicated on how you got that information versus how you use that information.
Wikipedia says,
> In the United States and many other jurisdictions, however, "insiders" are not just limited to corporate officials and major shareholders where illegal insider trading is concerned but can include any individual who trades shares based on material non-public information in violation of some duty of trust.
"violation of some duty of trust." They weren't given any duty or trust to violate though
Meh
naturally Wikipedia is 100% accurate.
14:55
Actually, according to Wikipedia they're 110% accurate.
It's going to go to courtrooms anyway
@KevinvanderVelden I think that means that is in violation of some duty of trust. Not that they were given a duty of trust.
I dunno, legalese is weird.
just find a duty of trust!
any duty of trust.
Call of Trust
Duty of Trust: Modern Insider Trading.
14:58
That would probably be the worst game ever made
And for the weird prequel-sequel, Duty of Trust: World at Markets.
-1 not enough tactical
Or would that be sequel-prequel?
> Any person who violates any provision of this title or the rules or regulations thereunder by purchasing or selling a security while in possession of material, non-public information shall be liable in an action in any court of competent jurisdiction…
Yeah, I don't think it's particularly picky about whether or not you should have the information to begin with
@TimStone But can certain US courts really be considered "courts of competent jurisdiction"?
14:59
Conveniently this is from the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, so information leaks like this weren't really envisioned.
(Yes, I know "competent" means something different in this context)
Oh, okay. I won't copy the definition then :P
not all kinds of fraud were made up after the internet was born :P
good old corporate espionage
companies used to detected them by attempting to set all of their employees on fire
15:02
Yes, adding a pointless loop is usually slower
that worked, but got outlawed on safety grounds.
that's how the pyro lost his job and became a mercenary, btw.
TRUE STORY.
@GodEmperorDune So the Pastapocalypse along with the new changes to hi meins has made ATs ridiculously strong.
Especially if they follow up the Pastapocalypse with a similar change to Pulverize.
I'm so lost again, KoL ?
Yes.
KoL functions off a daily turn system. You can craft food and booze to generate more turns to use.
The Pastapocalypse is a fan name for a recent series of changes that removed/changed functionality for pastas.
It used to be that you had to be a Myst-class to be able to craft the highest quality pastas as you had to have access to the Myst guild to be craft them.
The recent changes allow you to purchase a single-use item from the guild store to craft them instead. Which means you can make the highest quality pastas as any classes if you purchased the items previously (or through the Mall, a player-run economy) or were an Accordion Thief.
Accordion Thieves have access to all the guild stores.
15:20
:O
more awesome pasta for everybody then?
although the part where you used the past for "purchased" or "were" sounds pretty annoying
@badp Pretty much.
I wonder if they're going to tinker with the Still and Pulverize after this pasta change.
What do you guys think of this bag?
@SaintWacko I'm trying to move away from messenger bags for now. Once I graduate, I'll probably start using them again.
But it looks nice.
I'm using an Everki Camber right now
15:30
hmmm
one of the kickstarters I backed got canceled, lols
I need to find a nice flint keyring now
What's a flint keyring? Google is being unhelpful; with images like this one among the results ...
Well that's terrifying
Days of puzzling over why this HTML wouldn't display and I find out it's because I used the wrong path.
Excuse me while I bang my head on this rock.
Might as well just blame that one on caching.
Cafeteria today has meatloaf. I like meatloaf... but cateferia meatloaf? I'm a little worried.
I loved cafeteria lasagna when I was in school, so there's that.
College lasagna uses too much cheese for me though.
> After having spent a year working with Full Sail engineers, I would never hire one. I work with one of their graphics grads who got her job through connections. If she has to design anything other than an ambiguously gendered anime character, she is overwhelmed.
15:42
The sides are mashed potatoes and green beans. Not a fan of either of those here.
> I'm guessing ambiguously gendered anime characters are not one of the main designs your company makes
> No, we are an international real estate holdings firm.
@Yuuki having went to Full Sail.... true story
Poor engineer. I hope they didn't saddle her with too much debt like some of those for profit colleges have a rep for doing.
Actual cannibal Shia Labeouf
@twobugs yes hello 100k in the hole nice to meet you
15:44
@Rapitor Ouch.
@Sterno WAIT, HE ISN'T DEAD
SHIA SURPRISE
the school is relatively cheap, especially since you aren't there as long as a 4 year school. its just you can't get a part time job to help offset costs or living costs. so you have ot loan out that as well
> British propaganda led the world to believe that Napoleon was short, Hitler had one testicle, and the Dutch are a nation of cheap bastards who bake in cast iron pots.
The Brits are the Mean Girls of world politics.
wat.
15:47
Okay, first of all, dutch ovens are the greatest cooking implement ever how dare the british for suggesting otherwise
Secondly, wat
cast iron is incredible, but its also a pain to maintain
@Sterno I like their other song, where Christian Bale shows up at your party.
@Yuuki And that the French will surrender at the drop of a hat. Oh no wait, it was the French that started that one.
@Rapitor No it's not, you keep it sealed with oil. It's not that hard to do
@Sterno THERE'S A GUN TO YOUR HEAD
15:49
that's still more effort than other cookware
Sure, but it's worth it
@Unionhawk Why?
Not a lot: Add oil when dry, get paper towels, spread oil evenly, done.
@MartinSojka The seasoning is a pain though
No it isn't
You oil it and bake it
It's only a pain if you don't do that
15:51
Cover in oil, heat up a lot until the oil is literally smoking, cool down, repeat 3-5 times.
It's a piece of cake to make a pretty cake.
@MadMAxJr So is a cake tin
Rick Santorum voter support drops to 0% after debate.
Heh
Several campaigns are in turmoil right now
Excuse me while I Google "wipqozn socks" to find that gif (cc @Wipqozn).
15:52
I think I saw Rick Perry had to stop paying his staff because he's out of money
@Yuuki I misread that as "... sucks" and was wondering why the picture isn't showing him sucking on anything. Now that's a disappointment.
If the Republicans nominate Trump, I will die laughing
probably
It's still way too early
He's got plenty of time
I figured Trump would have started his own party by now.
@Unionhawk to do what? Say something so crazy it would tank his campaign? He keeps doing that. It's not working
15:55
@MadMAxJr I think he'd do it if he doesn't get the nomination.
@Unionhawk Yeah. If pro wrestling taught me anything, it's that whoever's winning half way through the fight will lose the fight.
Wrestling is staged for your entertainment. Trump is.. I don't know.
Hopefully, that works like Teddy Roosevelt and splits the Republican vote.
To be fair, it's pretty much the same tactics as used by Boris Johnson here, and he's doing very well for himself politically
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, popular historian, and former journalist who has served as Mayor of London since 2008 and as Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. He previously served as the MP for Henley from 2001 until 2008. A member of the Conservative Party, Johnson considers himself a One Nation Conservative and has been described as a libertarian due to his association with both economically liberal and socially liberal policies. Born in New York City to upper middle class English parents, Johnson was educated...
@MadMAxJr It may or may not be staged, but it's still for your entertainment.
15:56
@Yuuki ugh, I just rolled a new DB to be a super rich alt
I forgot how annoying it is to be low level without iotms
@GodEmperorDune ATs are good for turngen after Pastapocalypse, but PM might actually be the better meatfarmer if you're going to be doing Dinseylandfill.
@fredley Wow, what an abysmal toupee
@murgatroid99 Meh, either way it's still early
One of their Pasta Ghosts can increase meat drops by 20-40%.
@5pike It's actually his hair
15:58
@Yuuki ATs?

Q: Do dlc purchases in Destiny transfer over from ps3 to ps4

Thomas LittlerIn the next couple days I'm purchasing a ps4 so I can play with some buddies who all have ps4 Destiny (impulsive purchase I know) and I'm aware I can transfer character data over. But do the DLCs transfer over as well? I've purchased all 3 but I really don't want to have to purchase them again.

@fredley That's even worse
@djsmiley2k Accordion Thief.
/me ponders how to make more food
@fredley But is it his head hair?
15:58
He is a very, very intelligent man who pretends to be a bumbling oaf
Though you're right, I thought he was dead for sure about 3 separate times now and it's like "oh, no, apparently he's not dead"
@Yuuki i was planning on an aftercore Ed, because he is decent at farming and has insane cheap turngen
