I was "that guy" in the toll booths this morning. So embarrassing. My MacPass (electronic toll payment transceiver) fell off my windshield some time in the past 20 hours, and now I can't find it. Oh, and I was in a MacPass only lane.

The equivalent near me has my licence plate numbers on file, so instead of getting a ticket they can still associate my car with the correct account and take the money that way. I'm sure if I relied on that all the time, I'd hear from them, but once in a while as a mistake it's a good backup.

There are no toll booths in Singapore. Toll is paid through a card reader attached to the front wind screen. If you don't have the reader, cash card or enough money in the cash card, your license plate gets taken and a fine sent to your address

Oh cool, one of those is paid by the government to the private financers of the road (still per car that uses it though).
